Cosas que me gustan / Things I like # 29 - Marled Cocoon Scarf

Odio el frío y me encantaría vivir en un clima cálido todo el año pero reconozco que el frío también tiene su encanto sobre todo si nos damos el gustazo de envolvernos en una prenda de punto tan maravillosa como la Marled Cocoon Scarf  de Knit Collage.

¿No me digáis que no os encanta?

Esta claro que en Knit Collage saben muy bien cuál es el truco para hacer más llevadero el invierno así que creo que ha llegado el momento de rescatar mi Tinkerbell Cowl  a ver si así se me olvida el frío que hace... 

I hate cold weather and I would love to live in a warm climate all year long but I recognise that cold also has some charm specially if we treat ourselves into getting wrapped by a knitted garment as wonderful as the Marled Cocoon Scarf by  Knit Collage.

Don't tell me you don't love it?

It seems clear that in  Knit Collage they know very well which is the trick to make winter easier so I think it is the moment to rescue my  Tinkerbell Cowl and see whether I can forget how cold it is...

En proceso / Work in progress

Después de un fin de semana cargado de lluvia y nieve en las montañas doy por inaugurado el invierno y he empezado a tejer el gorro Hibiscus con la lana que compré en Edimburgo.

Se teje mucho más rápido de lo que pensaba así que si no tardo mucho en bloquearlo podré estrenarlo antes de que acabe la semana.

Os dejo para seguir tejiendo...

After a weekend full of rain and snow in the mountains I assume winter has just begun and I have started knitting Hibiscus hat with the yarn I bought in Edinburgh.

It is knitted quicker than I thought so if I don't take too much time to block it I will be able to wear it before the end of the week.

I leave you to continue knitting...

Mis DIY favoritos / My favorite DIYs # 18 - Waffel Hat

El primer gorro de lana que tejí fue el Waffel Hat  de Pickles, un gorro con un patrón muy original que me enamoró nada más verlo.

En aquel momento mis conocimientos de punto se limitaban a tejer con dos agujas así que la idea de utilizar agujas circulares me resultaba muy interesante.

No me acuerdo exactamente cuánto tarde en hacerlo pero tuvo que ser muy poco tiempo porque estaba super emocionada tejiendo sin parar y viendo como quedaba con cada vuelta que hacía.

La lana que escogí para tejerlo fue Rowan Cocoon una lana increíblemente suave y calentita que podría decir que es la lana oficial de mis gorros de punto porque es la misma que utilicé para tejer el gorro Take Heart.

Todavía hoy sigue siendo uno de mis gorros favoritos, mi fiel compañero en los días de frío porque por su diseño y color queda bien con todo.


The first wool hat I knitted was Waffel Hat by  Pickles, a hat with a very original pattern which I fell in love with at first sight.

At that moment my knitting skills were limited to knitting with straight needles so I found the idea of using circular needles very interesting.

I don't remember exactly how long it took me to make it but it had to be little time because I was super excited knitting without a break and seeing how it looked after each round I made.

The wool I chose to knit it was Rowan Cocoon an incredibly soft and warm wool that I could say is the official wool of all my knitted hats as it is the same I used to knit  Take Heart hat.

Today it is still one of my favorite hats, my loyal friend during cold days because due to its design and colour it matches with everything.

De compras en Edimburgo / Shopping in Edinburgh - Ginger Twist Studio

Después del disgusto que me llevé el año pasado al quedarme con las ganas de visitar Loop en Londres cuando planifiqué mi viaje a Edimburgo incluí en la lista de visitas obligadas una tienda de lanas.

Como no sabía muy bien por dónde empezar unas semanas antes pedí información a Emma Lamb a través de su cuenta de Instagram y muy amablemente me dio el nombre dos tiendas: Ginger Twist Studio y Be Inspired Fibres.

Por suerte, Ginger Twist Studio quedaba muy cerca del lugar donde me alojaba así que pude acercarme una tarde y conocer a la encantadora Jess (podéis verla en el interior de la tienda en la primera foto y en la foto que acompaña el patrón).

La tienda no es muy grande pero está llena de pequeñas tentaciones, sobre todo patrones y ovillos teñidos a mano por la propia Jess.

Entre tanta maravilla no sabía muy bien qué elegir así que, como no iba a facturar equipaje y no quería hacer más difícil mi propósito de reducir stash, al final me decidí por un patrón de un gorro, sólo un ovillo con el que tejerlo y una bolsa tote de la tienda.

Aunque todavía no he empezado el gorro me hace mucha ilusión pensar que siempre que lo lleve me acordaré de Edimburgo y de la tienda, va a ser un gorro muy especial.

En cuanto empiece a tejerlo os prometo escribir una entrada a todo detalle porque tanto el patrón como la lana lo merecen.

After my disappointment last year when I wasn't able to visit Loop in London, when I planned my trip to Edinburgh I included a yarn shop on my list of places of obliged visit.

As I didn't know where to start from a couple of weeks before I asked  Emma Lamb for some information through her Instagram account and she kindly gave the name of two shops: Ginger Twist Studio and  Be Inspired Fibres.

Luckily, Ginger Twist Studio was very near to the place I was staying in so I popped in one afternoon and met charming Jess (you can see her inside the shop in the first picture and in picture shown in the pattern).

The shop is not very big but it is full of small temptations, specially patterns and yarn handyed by Jess herself.

Among all that wonder I didn't know what to choose so, as I wasn't going to check my luggage and I didn't want to make my resolution of reducint stash more difficult, I finally decided to buy a hat pattern, only one skein to knit it and a tote bag from the shop.

Although I haven't yet started the hat it makes me very happy to think that every time I will wear it I will think of Edinburgh and the shop, it is going to be a very special hat.

As soon as I start knitting it I promise to write a full detailed post because both the pattern and the wool are worth it.
