Beatnik Sweater

Uno de mis objetivos principales de este año ha sido terminar algunos proyectos que tenía abandonados y, después de la mantita de "granny squares", le ha tocado el turno al "Beatnik Sweater"  de Nora Gaughan.

Todo empezó en 2014 con un KAL  organizado por Tricotoseando y, aunque el principio estaba muy entusiasmada con el proyecto, tengo que reconocer que se me "atragantaron" un poco las trenzas y el jersey acabó olvidado en mi cesta de labores cuando ya casi estaba terminado.

Me daba mucho pereza retomarlo pero, para mi sorpresa, esta vez he disfrutado mucho tejiendo las tan temidas trenzas y casi ni me he enterado cuando ha llegado el turno de hacer las mangas.

Lo mejor de todo es que es un jersey precioso y, aunque tenía miedo de no haber acertado con la talla, al final me queda perfecto así que estoy muy feliz de haber terminado mi "Beatnik Sweater"  después de tanto tiempo.

One of my main goals this year has been to finish some projects I had quitted and, after the granny squares mini blanket, it was the turn of the  "Beatnik Sweater" by  Nora Gaughan.

Everything started in 2014 with a KAL organised by  Tricotoseando and, although at first I was very excited with the project, I have to admit that I really "struggled" with the cables and the sweater ended left behind in my crafts basket when it was almost finished.

I was too lazy to start with it again but, to my surprise, this time I have enjoyed knitting the so feared cables and I didn't almost notice when it was the turn to make the sleeves.

The best part is that it is a beautiful sweater and, although I was a little bit scared of having chosen the wrong size, in the end it fits me perfectly so I am very happy for having finished my  "Beatnik Sweater" after so many time.

Definitivamente este año está siendo el momento de recuperar los proyectos abandonados y, además de mi mantita de "grannies ", también me he puesto terminar el jersey "Beatnik"  que empecé hace ya unos cuantos años.

Lo peor es que al retomarlo me he dado cuenta de que no me quedaba tanto para terminarlo, sólo repetir un par de veces el diagrama y luego las mangas, pero también es buena noticia porque eso significa que me llevará menos tiempo de lo que pensaba.

¿Alguien más tiene proyectos pendientes desde hace tiempo?

Definitely this year is being the moment to rescue abandoned projects and, in addition to my grannies blanket, I am also committed to finishing  "Beatnik" sweater which I started a few years ago.

The worst thing is that after coming back to it I have realised that there was not so much left to finish it, just repeating the diagram a couple of times and then the sleeves, but it is also good news because that means it will take me less time than I expected.

Anyone else has pending projects since a long time ago?

La semana pasada cuando os enseñé mi  gorro Hibiscus os conté que gracias a él estaba participando en el (Virtual) Tea Party un KAL lleno de sorpresas y regalos.

El gran sorteo de regalos se realizará a partir del  31 de diciembre pero yo he tenido la suerte de ganar uno de los premios sorpresa previos, un patrón a mi elección de la Tea Collection de Clare Devine.

Aunque todos los patrones me gustan, no me costó mucho decidirme porque ya tenía echado el ojo al gorro Chai, además de tener el nombre de uno de mis tés favoritos me encantaba por su enorme pompón.

Para hacerlo he utilizado unos ovillos de lana Phildar Nebuleuse que tenía guardados desde hace tiempo con lo que he contribuido a reducir un poco mi stash (voy mejorando...).

Ahora estoy esperando para poder lucirlo en este frío invierno que no acaba de llegar...

Last week when I showed you my Hibiscus hat I told you that thanks to it I was taking part in the (Virtual) Tea Party a KAL full of surprises and gifts.

The big giveaway will take place after December 31st but I've been so lucky to win one of the previous surprise gifts, a pattern of my choice from  Clare Devine's Tea Collection.

Although I like all the patterns, it wasn't too difficult to decide because Chai hat had already caught my attention, in addition to having the name of one of my favorite teas I loved it for its huge pom pom.

To make it I used some balls of wool from Phildar Nebuleuse which I had had for a while so I have also contributed to reducing my stash a little bit (I am making some progresses...).

Now I am waiting to wear it in this cold winter that is taking its time to arrive...

Hibiscus

Por fin ha llegado el momento de enseñaros el resultado del gorro que he tejido con la lana y el patrón que compré en Ginger Twist Studio en Edimburgo, justo a tiempo para dar un poco de color (y calor) a los días tan fríos que estamos teniendo por el Norte últimamente.

Como ya os adelanté hace unas semanas el patrón que he utilizado es Hibiscus de Clare Devine y forma parte de la Tea Collection una recopilación de patrones de gorros y cuellos de lana cuyo nombre está inspirado en distintos tipos de té (Hibiscus, Earl Grey, Lapsang, Chai...), una idea muy original que a mí como buena amante del té me encanta.

Tejer el gorro ha sido muy entretenido pero además me ha permitido participar en un KAL virtual organizado por la propia Clare Devine llamado (Virtual) Tea Party y que incluye la posibilidad de ganar distintos premios entre las persona que participan (podéis encontrar más información en redes sociales con las etiquetas #knitsharelove y #teacollectionhats).

Seguro que ahora os han entrado ganas de una buena taza de té...

Finally the moment has arrived and I can show you the result of the hat I've knitted with the wool and the pattern I bought at Ginger Twist Studio in Edinburgh, just in time to add a touch of colour (and heat) to the really cold days we are having in the North lately.

As I alredy advanced you a couple of weeks ago the pattern I've used is  Hibiscus by Clare Devine and it is part of the  Tea Collection a compilation of wool hats and cowls patterns which name is inspired in different types of tea (Hibiscus, Earl Grey, Lapsang, Chai...), a very original idea that I, as a true tea lover, like a lot.

Knitting the hat has been very amusing but it also allowed me to take part in a virtual KAL organised by Clare Devine herself called  (Virtual) Tea Party and which includes the possibility of winning different prizes among the people taking part on it (you can find more information on social networks under the hashtags  #knitsharelove and #teacollectionhats).

I am sure that now you are craving for a nice cup of tea...

Sous Sous Sweater

El fin de semana pasado por fin saqué algo de tiempo para hacer unas fotos del jersey Sous Sous que terminé hace unas semanas.

Estoy muy contenta con el resultado y aunque ha sido una tarea bastante laboriosa me ha costado menos trabajo de lo que me había imaginado (si Loop no hubiera organizado el KAL  creo que nunca me habría decidido a tejerlo).

El jersey tiene una caída preciosa y me quedo con pena de no reflejar en las fotos lo bonito que es realmente. A ver si un día me animo y os enseño cómo queda puesto...


The past weekend I finally found a little time to take some pictures of the Sous Sous sweater that I finished a couple of weeks ago.

I am very happy with the result and although it was quite and ardous work it took me less time than I imagined (if  Loop hadn't organised the KAL I think I would have never decided to knit it)

The sweater has a beautiful drape and I am sorry not to be able to show in the pictures how pretty it really is. Let's see if one day I find the courage to show you how it looks when worn...

Happy (Crafting) Weekend

Esta semana el finde empieza un día antes para mí porque el viernes tengo festivo así que estoy encantada de tener un día extra para mis cosas.

Entre mis tareas pendientes está hacer fotos al jersey Sous Sous que terminé el sábado pasado y que llevo toda la semana bloqueando. Estoy deseando que esté listo para poder enseñaros cómo ha quedado (a mí no puede gustarme más) .

This week the weekend starts a day earlier for me because friday is bank holiday so I am delighted to have an extra day to do my things.

Among my pending tasks I have to take some pictures of the Sous Sous sweater that I finished last saturday and has been blocking all week long. I am looking forward for it to be ready so I can show you how it came out (I can't like it more).

Happy (Crafting) Weekend

Las últimas semanas las he dedicado casi en exclusiva a tejer el jersey Sous Sous y os puedo decir que he avanzado bastante desde la última vez que os hablé de él.

No voy a negar que he tenido un pequeño momento de crisis con la parte trasera (me resulta muy pesado tejer siempre lo mismo), pero ahora he recuperado la ilusión con la parte de delante y estoy dedicándole todo mi tiempo para terminarlo cuanto antes.

Espero poder mostraros el jersey terminado muy pronto.

During the last weeks I've been knitting almost exclusively the Sous Sous sweater and I can tell you that I've made some progresses since the last time I told you about it.

I won't deny that I went through a small crisis with the back ( I find it quite hard to knit the same thing all the time), but now I've recovered the excitedment with the front side and I am spending all my time to finish it as soon as possible.

I hope to be able to show you the finished sweater very soon.

En proceso / Work in progress

Con mi nuevo objetivo de centrarme en proyectos primaverales estoy dedicando más tiempo a tejer el jersey Sous Sous y lo que he hecho hasta ahora me gusta mucho.

Cuando me apunté al KAL tenía muchas dudas sobre qué lana utilizar, porque proponían unas lanas maravillosas pero con un precio un poco elevado así que decidí buscar una alternativa más económica y con una composición más ligera para poder utilizar el jersey en primavera.

Partiendo de estas premisas acabé decantándome por DROPS Cotton Merino porque tiene la composición perfecta para prendas de primavera y porque me enamoré al instante del tono coral de su gama de colores.

Todavía me queda mucho para que esté terminado, pero estoy deseando poder lucir este color tan bonito.

With my new goal of focusing on spring projects I am spending more time knitting the Sous Sous sweater and I am liking a lot the result so far.

When I joined the KAL I had many doubts about what yarn to use, as they were suggesting some wonderful yarns which price was a little bit high so I decided to find a cheaper alternative with a lighter composition so I could use the sweater during the spring.

Under these premises I ended up choosing  DROPS Cotton Merino because it has the perfect composition for spring garments and because I instantly fell in love with the coral tone of their colour range.

I still have a lot of work to do, but I am looking forward to wearing this beautiful colour.

¡Hola Marzo! / Hello March!

Empiezo el mes de marzo con muchos proyectos en curso y con otros que ya he terminado y que tengo pendiente enseñaros.

Ya tengo asumido que el jersey Beatnik  lo estrenaré el invierno que viene porque ya es hora de empezar a pensar en proyectos de primavera (e incluso verano).

Como siempre tengo más ideas que tiempo y me cuesta mucho centrarme en un solo proyecto, así que espero saber organizarme bien para no dejar muchas cosas a medias.

¿No me digáis que no tenéis ganas de sustituir los ovillos de lana por otros mucho más ligeros?


I am starting the month of March with a lot of work in progress projects and many others that I've already finished but I still have to show you.

I have already assumed that I will wear my Beatnik sweater next winter because now it is time to start thinking about spring projects (or even summer ones).

As usual I have more ideas than time and I find it quite difficult to focus only in one project, so I hope to be able to organise myself well so I won't leave many things undone.

Don't tell me that you are not willing to substitute wool skeins by some much lighter ones?

Esta semana está haciendo muchísimo frío y yo, ilusa de mí, estoy deseando que llegue la primavera y por eso tejo con ilusión mi jersey Sous Sous KAL pensando en cuando la temperatura sea más agradable y pueda ponérmelo.

Todavía queda mucho hasta que llegue ese momento, así que por ahora me conformo con soñar mientras sigo tejiendo a mi ritmo...

This week is being really cold and I, naive me, am looking forward springtime so I am excited knitting my Sous Sous KAL sweater while I think in the moment when temperature will be more kind to wear it.

It's a long time until that moment arrives, so by now I resign myself to dreaming while I keep knitting at my own my pace...

Sous Sous KAL

Aunque todavía tengo el jersey del KAL Beatnik a medias no he podido resistir la tentación de unirme al Sous Sous KAL organizado por Loop London.

Me enamoré del Sous Sous nada más verlo, de hecho no creo que sea casualidad porque su diseñadora es Nora Gaughan, creadora también del Beatnik.

El KAL empieza el 1 de Febrero y  mi idea es ir haciéndolo poco a poco mientras voy terminando otras cosas que tengo entre manos. 

No me digáis que viendo estas fotos tan preciosas no os dan ganas de participar también.... (todavía estáis a tiempo!)

Although my sweater from the Beatnik KAL is still in progress I couldn't resist the temptation of joining the Sous Sous KAL organised by Loop London.

I fell in love with Sous Sous the first time I saw it, in fact I don't think it's a coincidence because its designer is Nora Gaughan, who also created the Beatnik.

The KAL is starting the 1st of February and my intention is to make it little by little while I keep finishing other ongoing things.

Don't tell me that after seeing these beautiful pictures you don't want to join too... (you are still on time!).

En proceso / Work in progress

Con el lío de la Navidad había dejado mi jersey Beatnik un poco abandonado y ahora por fin he podido retormarlo de nuevo.

Creo que este pequeño descanso me ha venido muy bien porque las trenzas dan mucho trabajo y estaba un poco saturada.

Lo malo es que ahora me va a tocar darme prisa si quiero estrenarlo este año y ya tengo proyectos nuevos en mi lista...

With all the Christmas fuss I had left my Beatnik sweater a little bit abandoned and now I am finally back at it again.

I think this little break has been for good because arans are really a hard job and I felt a little bit fed up.

The bad thing is that now I have to hurry up if I want to wear it this year and I already have new projects on my list...

Este fin de semana por fin he podido dedicar tiempo al  KAL Beatnik y el jersey ya va cogiendo forma.

Todavía me queda mucho por hacer, pero una vez empezado se teje más rápido de lo que parece así que espero seguir con el mismo ritmo para tenerlo listo para cuando llegue el frío.

Os dejo unas fotos con mis avances, a ver si pronto puedo enseñaros el resultado final.


This weekend I finally spent some time working on the  Beatnik KAL  and the sweater is already taking shape.

I still have a lot of work to do, but once it is started it is knitted faster than it seems so I hope to keep the same pace in order to have it ready when cold weather arrives.

Por fin es viernes y ya tengo mi pedido de lana DROPS Karisma para poder empezar a tejer el KAL Beatnik.

Además tengo otros proyectos empezados que estoy a punto de terminar, así que espero sacar tiempo para todo.

It's finally friday and I already have my order of DROPS Karisma yarn to start knitting Beatnik KAL.

I have some other ongoing projects that are almost finished, so I hope to have time for everything.

KAL Beatnik

Hace tiempo que llevo dándole vueltas  a la idea de participar en un KAL y esta semana he sabido que desde el blog de Tricotoseando se estaba organizando uno para hacer el jersey Beatnik de Norah Gaughan.

El patrón Beatnik  lleva en mis favoritos de  Ravelry  desde hace un montón de tiempo así que me pareció la excusa perfecta para participar en mi primer KAL.

Todavía estoy esperando a que me llegue la lana que he escogido, pero ya estoy estudiando el patrón para empezar con buen pie.

I've been thinking about taking part in a KAL for a long time and this week I came to know that through Tricotoseando blog it's been organised one to make Norah Gaughan's Beatnik sweater.

Beatnik pattern has been among my  Ravelry  favorites for a long time so I thought it was the perfect excuse to participate in my first KAL.

I am still waiting to receive the yarn I chose but I am already studying the pattern to start off on the right foot.
