Despidiendo el 2014 / Saying goodbye to 2014

Until this morning I was sure that my last post of 2014 was going to be a roundup of my favorite projects of the year.

However at last I have preferred a little sneak peak of some of the things I've been doing during the last weeks as a symbol of all the new things that are to arrive.

I hope that you will say goodbye to the old year with lots of joy and you will start 2015 with lots of energy to make all your dreams come true.

♥ Happy New Year ♥

Feliz Navidad ♥ / Merry Christmas ♥

♥ Feliz Navidad ♥

One of my favourite Christmas motifs is the gingerbread man, so I can't find a better way to wish you a  Merry Christmas.

I hope that you will enjoy these days with your family and friends and if you have some spare time you can make your own gingerbread man from DROPS Christmas Workshop following the pattern you will find here.

♥ Merry Christmas ♥

Happy (Crafting) Weekend

These past days my knitting basket is full of half done projects as at Christmas time I always work until the very last moment.

So it seems clear what I will be doing this weekend...

Have a nice weekend you all!

Mi experiencia Pixum / My Pixum experience

At the end of October I received an e-mail from Pixum where they invited me to test some of their products and then talk about it on my blog.

As soon as I took a look at their website I was sure about it, a lot of ideas of pictures with my creations came to my mind so I didn't hesitate in working with them

My first choice was a desktop calendar because I liked the design a lot and I think it is very practical to have it next to the computer. Each page of the calendar is printed in photographic paper and it comes into a tin box which serves as support, so it is easy to turn the pages and discover a new picture each month.

I also decided to take another calendar, an A3 annual photo planner so I can see the whole year at a glance. This calendar is perfect for the fridge and at home we already know it as the amigurumi calendar because the pictures show some of the ones I've made along the year.

Finally, I chose something that I loved at first sight, photo stickers with my creations in different sizes. I am still not sure what I will do with them but they are so cute that they will look great anywhere.

I won't deny that I am very happy with the result and as good things never come alone if you want to have your own customised calendar clicking here  Pixum will give you a 20% discount (unfortunately the offer is only valid for Spain).

Take Heart by Fiona Alice

The wonderful Rowan Cocoon wool skeins I bought in London have become a non less wonderful cabled wool hat with a faux fur pom pom.

The pattern I've followed is Take Heart by Fiona Alice, a pattern I've been dreaming of making since I saw it on the Pom Pom Quarterly issue I pampered myself with for my birthday (you can see it here).

I don't know if I like the cables of the pattern or the pom pom most, but I am so happy with the result that I am willing that cold weather starts for sure so I can wear it.

I love Tartan

Last week I took advantage of Black Friday discounts to finally get the pattern of the wonderful tartan wool cowl by  Wool and the Gang I told you about here.

I found the whole kit a little bit expensive, so when I saw I could buy only the pattern I didn't hesitate a minute.

I received it by mail at the end of last week and it included a surprise: a set of two wool needles and a Christmas inspired silver sticker.

I probably won't start it until Christmas is over, but I have already chosen the wool I will use.

Can't wait to start knitting my  Tartan Lula Hoop!

En proceso / Work in progress

One of my resolutins for this year is to add a personal touch to my home Christmas decoration, with some crafts made by me.

It is something that I've always wanted to do but the lack of time and my bad planning made it an impossible mission year after year.

But... this year I've been a little foresighted (although I must admit that I am late already) and I have chosen some easy and quick to make ideas.

Of course I won't forget about the felt gingerbread men I told you about here, in addition to some other typical Christmas motifs.

As always, I am looking forward to showing you the result....

Today is the beginning of the countdown to Christmas and the first day of surprises of the Advent Calendar.

I have never made one for my home (I guess that as I don't have children it is not the same thing), but I like handmade Advent Calendars a lot so I am always gathering ideas in case I decide to make one some day.

There are many possibilities, some easier adn another ones more stylised, but all of them are a great decor element and we can adapt them to the style we like the most.

You can find below some of my favorite ideas in case anyone decides to make one in the very last moment...

After my fruitless visit to  Loop I couldn't come back from London without buying any yarn, so when I visited Liberty I treated myself buying some Rowan skeins.

I had very clear what I was going to make with them so the choice was not difficult at all, Rowan Cocoon a mix of wool and mohair super nice to touch and very warm.

By now I can only tell you that I am going to use them for a very cool project, I will keep you informed...

Tinkerbell Cowl

Although I was willing to knit my Knit Collage wool skein I didn't know well what to do with it, because I didn't want to "spoil" it choosing a wrong project.

I finally opted for the easiest solution, to search in  Ravelry  for projects made with the same wool.

Among all the possibilites I found I ended choosing  Tinkerbell Cowl pattern by Heather Walpole, which is a very simple wool cowl but perfect for such an special yarn.

My cowl is smaller than the original one because I have only used one skein, but I am very happy with the result.

Now I only need a cold day to wear it ...

Happy (Crafting) Weekend

During the last weeks I've been quite busy with everyday tasks, so I've sort of abandoned the blog and my ongoing projects.

It's a good thing that the weekend seems that it will be a calm one and I will have time to finish my pending tasks.

By the moment I will just show you a granny chic of what one day will be my crochet blanket. I hope that its colours will serve you as inspiration for the weekend...

Y vosotros/as...

Something that couldn't miss among my shopping from the London trip were craft magazines, which had a place reserved in my suitcase since I planned the trip.

The first on my list was  Prima Makes (my great find from this summer which I told you about here), so I went directly for it and at the same time I discovered a new magazine, 101 Quick and Easy Crochet Makes which belongs to the same publishing group as  Mollie Makes.

The two issues are Christmas specials, so they suit me perfectly to pick some ideas as Christmas is just around the corner.

Probably my first Christmas project will be the felt gingerbread men that came as a gift with  Prima Makes , although there are other ideas that I like and that I hope to have time to make.

What abou you... do you have your Christmas projects list already done?

En proceso / Work in progress

Cold weather arrived this week and I am in the mood of starting a new project with the skein from Knit Collage which I pampered myself with for my birthday

I still have the Beatnik sweater unfinished but it is starting to become quite lengthy and I need to clear my mind (and hands) up with smaller projects.

Besides, I've been dreaming of knitting my Knit Collage skein since I bought it, so it's time to enjoy my small treat.

Loop  is one of the recommended shops in London for people who, like me, are mad about yarn, a paradise full of wonderful skeins and lots of ideas to make.

When I planned my trip to London it was clear it would be an obliged visit, specially considering that it was only 15 minutes walk away from where I was sleeping.

What I didn't think of was that the shop is closed only one day a week, on Mondays, and that was exactly the day I chose for my long awaited visit... Oh my!!!

You can imagine my face, mainly because it was my last day in London... I kept looking through the windows to torture myself with all the things I have missed: Knit Collage skeins (and I like them so much!), Miga de Pan works, all those books and accesories...

All I can say is that it is a shop that is beautiful even when it is closed and that in my next visit to London it would be the first thing to make!
