Mis DIY favoritos / My favorite DIYs # 10 - Shell Stitch Pixie Bonnet

In my search for pretty things to make for Nora I found the  Shell Stitch Pixie Bonnet, a beautiful hat designed by  Katherine Heise,  the person behind Crochet Latte.

I have always liked this kind of hats, because babies look like little elfs with them, so I decided to make it as son as I saw it.

I made it using a skein of Phildar PARTNER 3,5 I had at home (so I can start making some space in my stash).

It's very quick to make because it is really small so it is perfect as last minute gift.

Cosas que me gustan / Things I like # 12 - Garter Ear Flap Hats

Now that the weather is really cold it is the perfect moment to wear wool hats as charming as the  Garter Ear Flap Hats  shown in  Purl Bee.

I have already added them to my neverending to do list...

1760 Sweater - We Are Knitters

When I saw it on their website it was love at first sight so I bought it quickly in order to be able to knit it on time (not to repeat what happened with the Sabrina Sweater ).

I chose it in grey colour because, eventhough I loved the blue colour in the picture, it would be easier for me to match with my clothes.

The wool is quite bulky and very warm (perfect for the weather of where I live) and it is knitted super quick.  Normally and without interruptions I would have knitted it in one week.

Now comes the best part, to enjoy it!

Tejer con cinta / Knitting with ribbon

Knitting with ribbon is quite a quick way of knitting a scarf in little time using only one skein.

I had never tried before but this Christmas I was running short of time with my handmade gifts, so I thought it could be a good solution and a good chance to learn something new.

Actually it is not complicated at all, you only have to knit the upper part of the ribbon on alternate stitches (you can see how easy it is on this video).

The ribbon I used is  Fil Cha Cha Cha  by Phildar, but almost all brands have this type of skeins (Katia Ondas, Katia GalaRed Heart Ribbon Yarn, Schachenmayr Argentina...).

Anyone else wants to knit with ribbon?

One of my resolutions for this year is to spend more time doing other crafts different to knitting and crocheting and I thought weaving could be a good start.

When I was a kid I had a weaving toy (that I still keep), so I have made a little search on  Pinterest  to get some inspiration and I've found very interesting (and cool!) things.

What do you think of my picks?

Happy (Crafting) Weekend

This weekend cold weather (and snow) is arriving so my plan is to finish knitting my  1760 sweater by  We Are Kitters  to wear it as soon as possible.

Have a nice weekend!

Pequeños caprichos confesables: agenda Moleskine / Little confessable whims: Moleskine diary

One of my yearly mandatory rituals is to have a new Moleskine diary.

I discovered this brand when I lived in Italy (as far back as 2003) thanks to my friend Maria Giulia and since then there's no other diary for me.

My favorite model is the pocked size daily planner, nor too big nor too small. Now since they make them in different colours I give myself the treat of choosing a different colour each year.

This year I have chosen a beautiful yellow colour (one of my favorite colours) and now I am ready to face this year!

(I bought the pencil that appears in the picture at a Liberty shop in Edinburgh something like a trillion years ago, so I’m very fond of it and I hardly use it. Someday I will tell you about my love for stationery...)

Bienvenida Nora ♥ / Welcome Nora ♥

Yesterday Nora, my first niece was born so during the last months I've been collecting a lot of ideas of  things to make for babies.

The first thing I made for her was a small crochet blanket for her buggy.

I am not a great fan of the total look in pink, but as she is a little baby I didn't dare to use colours different to pale tones.

As usual I have more ideas than time, so I hope to be able to make almost all the things I am thinking of.

Babies look great with anything they wear, but they are always cuter if we add some funny touches to their clothes.
It can be two little ears on the hat of a knitted cardigan or the face of a little cat with its moustache, like this wool baby hat I made for little Bosco.
I am sure that in addition to being warm he will be super squeezable.

¡Feliz Día de Reyes! / Happy Day of the Three Wise Kings!

Today is my favorite day of the year.

The Day of the Three Wise Kings is the day when we become a child again and we enjoy one of those little luxes that life sometimes offers us, the  Roscón de Reyes (a ring shaped cake flavoured with orange-flower water)!
