La sirenita "Coral" / "Coral" the little mermaid

 

Todos los años hago algún muñeco de amigurumi  para el cumpleaños de mi sobrina y, aunque este año no he podido dárselo en la fecha que correspondía, no he faltado a mi tradición.

Hasta el momento ha habido un poco de todo: una Peppa Pig , una muñequita Gorjuss , un unicornio Robin  y un osito panda circense así que tenía que buscar un diseño que estuviera a la altura de los anteriores. 

Una vez más la solución me la dio Instagram  cuando vi una foto de la sirenita "Coral " diseñada por La Crocheteria Design  y en seguida me di cuenta de que era el proyecto perfecto porque iba a poder utilizar muchos hilos con brillos que es lo que más le gusta a mi sobrina.

Tal y como imaginaba, la sirenita "Coral" ha resultado ser un gran éxito y ha sido muy bien recibida en su nueva loca familia de amigurumis.

Every year a make an amigurumi puppet for my niece's birthday and, although this year I couldn't give it to her in the corresponding date, I didn't miss my tradition.

Until the moment there has been a little bit of everything: a Peppa Pig, a Gorjuss doll, a Robin unicorn and a circus panda bear so I had to find a design at the same level as the precedings.

Once more I found the solution on  Instagram when I saw a picture of  "Coral" the mermaid designed by  La Crocheteria Design and I suddenly realised that it was the perfect project because I could use different lurex cotton yarns which is what my niece likes the most.

As I imagined, "Coral" the little mermaid was a great success and it has been very well accepted in her new crazy family of amigurumis.

Bolsa de red tulipán / Tulip filet crochet bag

Hace unas semanas publiqué una bolsita de red decorada con un tulipán en mi cuenta de Instagram  y prometí compartir el patrón así que, cumpliendo mi palabra, hoy os explico cómo hacerla.

Lo más importante de este DIY es conocer la técnica "filet crochet"  que ya utilicé en este "IKEA Hack"  hace unos años y que es tan sencilla como saber hacer cadenetas y puntos altos de ganchillo.

A couple of  weeks ago I posted a filet crochet sachet with a tulip on my  Instagram account and I promised to share the pattern so, keeping my word, today I will tell you how to make it.

The most important thing about this DIY is knowing "filet crochet" technique which I already used in this  "IKEA Hack" some years ago and it is as simple as knowing how to make crochet chains and double crochet stitches.

INSTRUCCIONES

Hilo: Hilo de algodón nº 3 (yo he utilizado DROPS Loves You 9  en color coral)

Aguja: Aguja de ganchillo nº 3 (1.75 mm)

Punto utilizado: Filet crochet (podéis ver un tutorial en español aquí y otro en inglés aquí).

Pasos:

• Montar 48 puntos de cadeneta y unir los puntos para seguir trabajando en circular.
• Seguir el diagrama que se indica a continuación utilizando la técnica de filet crochet, dibujando el tulipán en los diez puntos centrales.
• Una vez terminado el diagrama, hacer un punto bajo en cada punto y cerrar pasando el hilo por el último punto (48 puntos)
• Coser la parte de abajo de la bolsa
• Para la cuerda del cierre: montar una cadeneta que mida aproximadamente 45 cm (o la largura que prefieras) y hacer un punto enano en cada cadeneta

INSTRUCTIONS

Yarn: Cotton yarn nº 3 (I have used  DROPS Loves You 9 in coral colour)

Needle: Nº 3 crochet hook (1.75 mm)

Sitch used: Filet crochet (you can find a tutorial in English here and another one in Spanish here)

Steps:

• Cast on 48 chain stitches and join the stitches to start working in the round
• Follow the chart above using filet crochet technique, drawing the tulip on the ten stitches in the middle
• Once you have finished the chart, make one single crochet on every stitch and close by pulling the yarn through the last stitch (48 stitches)
• Sew the bottom of the bag
• For the closing rope: cast on a chain measuring aproximately 45 cm (or the length you prefer) and make one slip stitth on each chain stitch

           

Light as a Feather Sweater

Últimos días del año y llego justo a tiempo para enseñaros mi jersey "Light as a Feather Sweater"  de Mimosa Café Lanar,  una de mis propuestas para el desafío "Make Nine Challenge"  de 2020 (aunque no la última).

Cuando a principios de enero decidí escoger este proyecto para el desafío lo hice por varios motivos: obviamente me encantaba el diseño, pero también  se trataba de un patrón en "brioche stitch" ( yo nunca había tejido nada con este punto) y, lo más importante, se trata de un proyecto "made in Spain"  hecho también con mucho amor (y esto es algo que no tiene precio).

Como me hacía especial ilusión tejerlo, he estado casi todo el año investigando y cotilleando modelos tejidos por otras personas para elegir el color y al final me he decantado por un tono rojo brillante que en los ovillos "Snefnug" de CaMaRose  es realmente bonito.

A pesar del origen danés de la lana me ha quedado un jersey muy poco nórdico (ya sabéis que por allí triunfan los tonos pastel) pero yo estoy encantada con el resultado y realmente es ligero como una pluma.

Last days of the year and I arrive just in time to show you my  "Light as a Feather Sweater" by  Mimosa Café Lanar, one of my proposals for  "Make Nine Challenge" 2020 (but not the last one).

When at the beginning of January I decided to choose this project for the challenge I did it for several reasons: obviously I loved the desing, but it was also a pattern in "brioche stitch" (I had never knitted anything in this stitch before) and, the most important thing, it is a  "made in Spain" project made also with lots of love (and this is something priceless).

As I was really eager to knit it, I have been almost the whole year investigating and nosing around models knitted by other people to choose the colour and at last I opted for a bright red tone which in  "Snefnug" by CaMaRose skeins is really pretty.

Despite the Danish origins of the wool my sweater is anything but nordic (you already now that pastel colours are very popular up there) but I am very happy with the result and it is actually light as a feather.

Desafío Handbox - Navidad con Tintes Iberia

 

Como ya os adelanté la semana pasada, este mes estoy participando en el "Desafío Hanbox" en colaboración con Tintes Iberia  cuyo objetivo es dar color a la Navidad y en el que se premiará al proyecto más creativo entre todos los que participen.

Desde el principio me pareció una iniciativa interesante y divertida así que intenté buscar un proyecto en el que pudiera sacar el máximo partido de los tintes, lo que me hizo pensar en la posibilidad de utilizar restos de ovillos en color crudo para experimentar con el color.

Mi idea inicial era hacer adornos con motivos navideños en lana fieltrada (siguiendo el mismo proceso que utilicé aquí) pero cuando leí en las instrucciones de los tintes que no eran aptos para teñir lana me pareció un poco arriesgado centrarme sólo en esa idea, así que decidí acompañar el proyecto con un letrero y unos arbolitos de algodón tejidos en tricotín.

Lo primero que hice fue hacer las estrellas de ganchillo fieltradas y el letrero de "Feliz Navidad" y los árboles con el tricotín, todo en color crudo para aprovechar al máximo el efecto del tinte.

Para cada tipo de adorno escogí un color y un efecto de tintado diferente: 

• Las estrellas de lana fieltrada azules con un efecto "tie-dye"
• El letrero de "Feliz Navidad" en rojo intenso como si fuera un cartel con luces de neón
• Los arbolitos en verde pero con un tintado selectivo en la parte superior simulando nieve

Después empecé con la parte divertida, el tintado siguiendo las instrucciones de Tintes Iberia (en mi caso no se trataba de ropa pero seguí los pasos indicados de para teñir y fue todo súper fácil y limpio, no tuve que limpiar nada más que la palangana que utilicé para dejar los adornos en remojo).

No os voy a negar que estaba un poco nerviosa por ver cómo habían quedado mis adornos navideños (sobre todo por las estrellas de lana) pero el resultado fue justo como me esperaba, con la intensidad de color que quería para cada elemento decorativo.

Así que, puedo decir que he cumplido el objetivo de dar color a la Navidad con éxito y después de esta experiencia he descubierto que el tintado ofrece muchas posibilidades creativas (incluso con lana 100%)  que seguramente pondré de nuevo en práctica en el futuro.

Cosas que me gustan / Things I like # 47 - Celtic Comfort blanket by Drops Design

Ahora que empieza a hacer frío de verdad es cuando más apetece pasar tiempo en casa y, no vamos a negarlo, el plan de "peli, sofá y manta" es lo que nos viene a todos a la cabeza.

Desde el punto de vista de las personas que tejemos, podríamos añadir a esta combinación una buena labor que acompañe las tardes de sofá y es aquí donde he encontrado el que podría ser un proyecto perfecto para hacer este invierno, la manta "Celtic Comfort"  de Drops Design .

Seguramente lo ideal hubiera sido empezarla hace unas semanas para tenerla ya terminada pero a mí me gusta que las labores que estoy haciendo en cada momento acompañen a la estación, especialmente cuando hace frío porque no hay nada más agradable que tejer con lana bien gordita y calentita en pleno invierno.

¿No os parece un diseño perfecto para tejer estos días?

Now that cold weather has begun for real it is when it feels more like staying at home and, we can't deny it, the "films, couch and blanket" plan is what we all think about.

From a knitter point of view, we could add a good kntting work that would go well with couch afternoons and here is where I have found what could be a perfect project to make this winter,  "Celtic Comfort" blanket by  Drops Design.

Probably the best thing would have been to start it a couple of weeks ago to have it already finished but I like that the projects that I am making in each moment match with the season, specially when it is cold because there's is nothing more pleasant that knitting with thick and warm wool in the middle of the winter.

Cuando llega diciembre siempre intento hacer algo especial relacionado con la Navidad y este año no iba a ser diferente pero además voy a tener un poco de ayuda extra.

Las chicas de Handbox  han organizado un desafío para dar color a la Navidad junto con Tintes Iberia  y yo he sido una de las personas seleccionadas para participar en él.

Todavía no os puedo contar cuál va a ser mi propuesta navideña con color pero, como os podéis imaginar, habrá ovillos e hilos incluidos en el proceso...

With the arrival of December I always try to make something special related to Christmas and this year it won't be different but in addition I will have some extra help.

The girls from  Handbox have organised a challenge to colour up Christmas together with  Tintes Iberia and I have been one of the persons selected to take part on it.

I still can't tell you which will be my colour Christmas design but, as you can guess, there will be some skeins and yarn involved in the process... 

Princess Chantilly

 

Desde que descubrí el patrón de la mantita "Princess Chantilly"  de DROPS Design  se ha convertido en uno de mis diseños más recurrentes cuando tengo que hacer algo para bebés

Sin embargo, ya sabéis que cuando repito algún patrón me gusta cambiar el color o el tipo de hilo y, en este ocasión, aproveché para probar el tono "rosado polvo" de DROPS Merino Extrafine que sólo había visto en su web y resultó ser todo un acierto, es el color rosa perfecto.

De momento no tengo ningún proyecto para bebé en mi lista pero estoy casi segura de que no será la última vez que os hable de este diseño...

P.D: Mis otras mantitas "Princess Chantilly" en beige y en crudo

Since I discovered the baby blanket pattern  "Princess Chantilly" by  DROPS Design it has become one of my more recurrent designs when I have to make something for babies.

However, you already know that when I repeat a pattern I like to change the colour or the type of yarn and, in this case, I took advantage to try the shade "powder pink" by  DROPS Merino Extrafine that I had only seen on their web and it was such a good decision, it is the perfect pink colour.

At the moment I don't have any baby project on my list but I am almost sure that this won't be the last time I tell you about this design...

DIY - Salvamanteles Vichy de fieltro / DIY - Felted Gingham potholder

En mi "stash"  hay un poco de todo y, como ya sabéis, este año estoy muy concienciada en usar lo que tengo así que he pensado una idea DIY para utilizar unos ovillos de DROPS Eskimo  que tenía sin utilizar.

La particularidad de este tipo de hilo es que, como es 100% lana, es ideal para fieltrar por lo que me ha parecido la oportunidad perfecta para poner en práctica esta técnica haciendo un salvamanteles de fieltro con estampado Vichy.

Aunque puede parecer algo un poco complicado, os aseguro que no tiene ninguna dificultad más allá de ser capaz de tejer del derecho del revés y de saber utilizar una lavadora...

De hecho, me parece que el fieltrado tiene muchas posibilidades creativas así que seguramente no será la última vez que experimente con ello.

In my stash there's a little bit of everything and, as you already know, this year I am very aware of using what I already have so I have thought a DIY idea to use some  DROPS Eskimo skeins I had unused.

The particularity of this kind of yarn is that, as it is 100% wool, it is ideal for felting so I thought this was the perfect occasion to put this technique into practice making a felted Gingham potholder.

Although it may seem a little bit complicated, I assure you that it not trickier than being able to knit and purl and than knowing how to use a washing machine...

In fact, I think that felting has many creative possibilities so surely this won't be the last time I experience with it.

INSTRUCCIONES

Lana: DROPS Eskimo  en dos colores diferentes (o cualquier lana de características similares) - aproximadamente 10 gr.

Agujas: Agujas rectas de 8 mm

Puntos utilizados: Punto del derecho y punto del revés

Pasos:

• Montar 21 puntos o un número impar de puntos que sea múltiplo de 3
• Tejer alternando los colores según el diagrama Vichy (las vueltas pares del derecho y las impares del revés)

• Cerrar todos los puntos, cortar la hebra y rematar escondiendo la lana que sobra

• Fieltrar la pieza en la lavadora según las instrucciones que encontraréis aquí
• Bloquear bien la pieza para que quede con la forma y el tamaño que queremos

• ¡Disfrutar de vuestro salvamanteles de fieltro con estampado Vichy!

INSTRUCTIONS

Yarn: DROPS Eskimo in two different colours (or any other yarn with similar characteristics) - approximately 10 gr.

Needles: 8 mm / US 11 straight needles

Sitches used: Knit and Purl

Steps:

Cast on 21 stitches or an odd number of stitches multiple of 3 

Knit and purl alternating the colours according to the Gingham scheme (knit on even rows  and purl on odd ones)

• Cast off all the stitches, cut the yarn and weave in ends 

• Felt the piece in the washing machine according to the instructions you will find here
• Block the piece in order to obtain the desired form and size

• Enjoy your Gingham felt potholder!

Baby Bowie

 

A principios de agosto os hablaba de un proyecto de ganchillo inspirado en un cantante británico famoso por llevar pintado un rayo en la cara y ahora, más de un mes después, puedo desvelar el misterio y contaros que se trataba del bucito "Baby Bowie" de Alimaravillas.

Es un proyecto muy diferente a los que suelo hacer normalmente para bebés pero cuando lo ví por primera vez me gustó tanto que guardé la idea y este verano, por fin, he tenido la oportunidad de hacerlo.

La verdad es que tenía muchas ganas de ganchillearlo y lo he disfrutado mucho, sobre todo cuando tocaba hacer el rayo de la espalda con el hilo rosa con brillo.

Lo único que he cambiado del patrón original ha sido el cierre del bucito donde he sustituido la cremallera por unos "snaps" (corchetes de plástico) que son mucho más fáciles de poner y me parece que le dan un toque muy chulo.

¿No os parece el uniforme perfecto para un pequeño viaje a las estrellas?

At the beginning of August I told you about a crochet project inspired by a British singer famous for wearing a lightning bolt accross his face and now, more than one month after, I can reveal the mystery and tell you that it is the  "Baby Bowie" wee overall by Alimaravillas.

This project is very different to the ones I usually make for babies but when I saw it for the first time I loved is so much that I kept the idea and this summer, finally, I had the opportunity to make it.

To tell the truth I was really looking to crochet it and I have enjoyed it a lot, specially when I had to make the lightning in the back in glitter pink yarn.

The only thing I have changed from the original pattern was the closing of the overall where I have substituted the zipper by some "snaps" which are much more easy to put and which I think look really cool.

Don't you think it is the perfect uniform for a wee trip to the stars?

Pelele "Pickles" / "Pickles" baby romper

Este verano estoy publicando con menos frecuencia en el blog pero sigo trabajando en mis proyectos de punto y de ganchillo.

De hecho, hace casi un mes ya comenté por Instagram que en este periodo estoy haciendo muchas cosas para bebés y ahora que casi todos los destinatarios ya los están disfrutando puedo empezar a enseñarlos  poco a poco.

Uno de estos proyectos es el pelele de punto Pickles  diseñado por  Creativa Atelier que he tejido con mucha ilusión porque, además de ser precioso, es muy diferente a todas las prendas de bebé que he hecho hasta el momento.

Con este diseño he tenido la oportunidad de probar por primera vez el  hilo de algodón "Anchor Baby Pure Cotton" que es el aconsejado en el patrón y la experiencia ha sido muy positiva.

Es un hilo que está especialmente pensado para prendas de bebé porque es hipoalergénico y resistente a la saliva y  me ha gustado mucho porque es muy agradable al tacto y queda muy bien una vez tejido.

Este tipo de prendas de punto (ranitas, peleles, petos...) son mis preferidas cuando tengo que hacer cosas para bebés porque siempre quedan bien y cualquier detalle, como el bolsillo delantero de este diseño, le dan un toque muy original.

This summer I am posting less frequently on the blog but I keep working on with my knitting and crochet projects.

Actually, almost a month ago I already said on Instagram that during this period I am making a lot of things for babies and now that almost all the addressees are already enjoying them I can finally start to show them little by little.

One of this projects is  Pickles baby romper designed by  Creativa Atelier which I have enthusiastically knitted as, in addition to being really pretty, it is very different to the baby garments I have made so far.

With this design I had the opportunity to try for the first time  "Anchor Baby Pure Cotton" yarn which is the one suggested in the pattern and the experience was very positive.

It is a yarn which is specially created for baby clothes as it is hypoallergenic and saliva resistant and I liked it a lot because it is very nice to touch and looks really good once knitted.

This type of knitted garments (baby rompers, onesies, jumpsuits...) are my favorite kind when I have to make things for babies because they always look good and any detail, as the front pocket in this design, add a very original touch.

Cinco prendas de punto para hacer en verano / Five knitwear garments to make in summer

Desde hace unos años, durante el verano no pierdo la oportunidad de añadir una prenda de punto o ganchillo nueva a mi armario.

Al principio las labores me parecían algo más típico del otoño o del invierno y me limitaba a hacer complementos o cosas para casa pero la verdad es que hay muchísimos diseños preciosos de verano entre los que poder elegir y es tan sencillo como cambiar la lana por el hilo de algodón.

Como de costumbre tengo más ideas y proyectos en mi lista que tiempo pero aún así, he hecho una selección de mis cinco patrones favoritos de prendas de punto para este verano porque nunca hay que perder la inspiración.

Obviamente no he podido resistirme mucho y, aprovechando unos ovillos de mi stash, estoy a punto de empezar uno de estos proyectos y he comprado algodón en un color realmente precioso para hacer otro más...

Since a couple of years ago, during summer I don't miss the opportunity to add a new knit or crochet garment to my closet.

At the beginning I thought crafts were something more typical of autumn or winter and I just made accesories or things for the home but the truth is that there are so many pretty summer designs to choose from and it is as simple as substituting wool for cotton yarn.

As usual I have more ideas and projects on my list than time but even so, I have made a selection of my five favorite knitwear garments for this summer because you can never miss inspiration.

Obviously I couldn't resist myself much and, using some skeins from my stash, I am about to start one of this projects and I have bought some cotton in a really beautiful colour to make another one...
