Adiós, Marzo / Bye bye, March

Mi mes de marzo ha estado marcado por la llegada de ovillos multicolores e ideas nuevas que pronto se transformarán en proyectos de primavera.

También ha habido hueco para algunos proyectos invernales: nuevas versiones de los gorritos Illume y Chai y un cuello de lana con patrón gratuito de regalo.

Además, no han faltado ideas para para hacer en Pascua y mi tradicional decoración acorde con la época que este año ha consistido en unos coloridos conejitos de Pascua de adorno.

¡Me encanta cómo la primavera lo inunda todo de color!

My month of March has been characterised by the arrival of multicouloured skeins and new ideas that will soon transform into spring projects.

There has also been space for some winter projects: new versions of Illume and Chai hats and a wool cowl which included a free pattern as a gift.

In addition, I couldn't miss some ideas to make at Easter and my traditional decoration according to the season which this year consisted of some embellishments of coloured Easter bunnies.

I love how spring floods everything with colour!

Chocolate Chai

Tejer para otras personas es una oportunidad para hacer cosas nuevas o incluso repetir mis patrones favoritos, así que cuando una compañera de trabajo me pidió que le tejiera un gorro Chai para su madre no pude negarme.

Esta vez el color era muy diferente a los anteriores, un precioso color marrón oscuro que me recuerda al chocolate (de ahí el título de esta entrada).

El patrón ya se ha convertido en uno de mis favoritos y con el gusto que le he cogido este invierno a tejer gorros no creo que sea el último que haga

Aunque nunca pensé que diría esto, creo que me está dando un poco de pena que se haya terminado el invierno...

Knitting for other people is an opportunity to make new things or even to repeat my favorite patterns, so when a colleague from work asked me to knit a Chai hat for her mother I couldn't say no.

This time this colour was very different to the previous ones, a beautiful dark brown that reminds me of chocolate (which explains the title of this post).

The pattern has alreday become one of my favorites and as this winter I've enjoyed knitting hats a lot I don't think it would be the last I make.

Although I never thought I would say this, I think that the end of winter is making me feel a bit sad...

Happy Easter

Últimamente he andado un poco liada y ya pensaba que me quedaba sin decoración de Pascua pero justo en el último momento (ayer por la mañana para ser más exactos) me puse manos a la obra.

Mi elección para este año ha sido unos conejitos de ganchillo en colores pastel que ya cuelgan de unas ramas de tamarisco que tengo en la entrada de casa.

Me gusta tanto como queda que es posible que los conejitos se conviertan en decoración permanente.

Lately I've been a little bit busy and I thought that I wasn't going to have any Easter decoration but just in the last moment (yesterday morning to be more precise) I got down to business.

My selection for this year is some crochet bunnies in pastel colours that are already hanging on some tamarisk branches I have in the entrance at home.

I like so much how it looks that the bunnies will probably become a permanent decoration.

DIY - Cuello Espiral / Spiral Cowl

Aunque ya estamos oficialmente en primavera todavía nos quedan algunos días de frío (sobre todo a los que vivimos en el norte) así que no se me ocurre nada mejor que compartir un nuevo DIY de un cuello de lana y ayudaros así a terminar con vuestro stash de lana (yo voy medio regular con mi objetivo, pero no voy a desanimarme porque todavía me queda mucho año por delante...).

Como siempre podéis encontrar la información con las instrucciones y los materiales necesarios debajo de las fotos.

Although we are officially in spring there are still some cold days to come (especially for us who live in the north of Spain) so I can't find a better idea than sharing a new DIY of a wool cowl so I can help you to finish your wool stash ( I am not achieving my goal completely but I am not discouraged as I still have almost a whole year ahead...).

PATRÓN GRATUITO

Lana: 200 gr. de lana gruesa en vuestro color preferido

Agujas: Agujas circulares de 12 mm y 80 cm de diámetro

Puntos utilizados: Punto del derecho y punto del revés

Pasos:

• Montar 60 puntos (o un número de puntos múltiplo de 12) y unir para empezar a tejer en circular.
• Repetir la siguiente combinación de puntos durante 30 vueltas o las vueltas necesarias para alcanzar la medida que os guste:

• Vuelta 1: 5 puntos del derecho, 7 puntos del revés (repetir hasta terminar la vuelta)
• Vuelta 2: 3 puntos del derecho. 2 puntos del revés, 1 punto del derecho, 4 puntos del revés, 2 puntos del derecho (repetir hasta terminar la vuelta)
• Vuelta 3: 1 punto del derecho, 4 puntos de revés, 1 punto del derecho, 2 puntos del revés, 4 puntos del derecho (repetir hasta terminar la vuelta)
• Vuelta 4: 6 puntos del revés, 5 puntos del derecho, 1 punto del revés (repetir hasta terminar la vuelta)
• Vuelta 5: 4 puntos del revés, 5 puntos del derecho, 3 puntos del revés (repetir hasta terminar la vuelta)
• Vuelta 6: 2 puntos del revés, 5 puntos del derecho, 5 puntos del revés (repetir hasta terminar la vuelta)

• Cerrar todos los puntos.
• Importante: Para que el cuello quede como en las fotos tenéis que darle la vuelta a la pieza, es decir, la parte del revés es la que se ve.

FREE PATTERN

Yarn: 200 gr. of bulky yarn in your favorite colour

Needles: 12mm/US17 and 80 cm /92 inches length circular needles

Stitches used: Knit and Purl

Steps:

• Cast on 60 stitches (or any number multiple of 12) and join to start knitting in the round.
• Repeat the following combination of stitches along 30 rounds or as many rounds you need to reach the measure you like:

• Round 1: Knit 5 stitches, Purl 7 stitches (repeat until you finish the round)
• Round 2: Knit 3 stitches, Purl 2 stitches, Knit 1 stitch, Purl 4 stitches, Knit 2 stitches (repeat until you finish the round)
• Round 3:  Knit 1 stitch, Purl 4 stitches, Knit 1 stitch, Purl 2 stitches, Knit 4 stitches 
• (repeat until you finish the round)
 
• Round 4: Purl 6 stitches,  Knit 5 stitches, Purl 1 stitch (repeat until you finish the round)
• Round 5: Purl 4 stitches, Knit 5 stitches, Purl 3 stitches (repeat until you finish the round)
• Round 6: Purl 2 stitches, Knit 5 stitches, Purl 5 stitches (repeat until you finish the round)

• Cast off all the stitches
• Important: If you want the cowl to look like shown in the pictures above you have to turn it inside out, that is, what you see is the wrong side.
