Happy (Crafting) Weekend

Se termina agosto y aunque oficialmente todavía quedan algunas semanas de verano resulta inevitable pensar que se acerca el cambio de estación.

No os voy a engañar, aunque el verano me encanta, el otoño es mi estación favorita porque siempre la asocio con la vuelta a la rutina y el comienzo de nuevos proyectos e ideas.

Pero bueno, como ya he dicho todavía queda tiempo para despedir al verano así que seguiremos disfrutando de los días de sol y, en mi caso, terminando las labores pendientes.

August is finished and although officially there are still some summer weeks left it seems inevitable to think that the change of season is close.

I won't fool you, even if I love summer, autumn is my favorite season because I always associate it to coming back to the routine and the beginning of new projects and ideas.

Anyway, as I have already said there's still time to say goodbye to summer so we will continue enjoying summer days and, in my case, finishing pending crafts.

Uno de los proyectos que más ocupada me tiene este verano es el jersey Riley  del número de verano de Pom Pom Quarterly.

Empecé a tejerlo a finales de mayo y ahora, tras varios proyectos más pequeños entre medias, estoy  muy contenta porque me queda muy poco para terminarlo.

Espero poder enseñaros el resultado muy pronto...

One of the projects that keeps me more busy this summer is  Riley sweater from  Pom Pom Quarterly summer issue.

I started knitting it a the end of May and now, after several smaller projects in the middle, I am very happy because I am very close to finishing it.

I hope I can show you the result very soon...

DIY - Borla de trapillo / Zpagetti tassel

Este verano una amiga me regaló un cesto redondo con asa y Cristina de My World of Wool  me envió por Instagram  un montón de ideas para personalizarlo.

Así que... me pareció la ocasión perfecta para seguir con mi plan de dar uso a las bobinas de trapillo que tengo por casa  y antes de darme cuenta ya estaba haciendo unas borlas de trapillo para dar mi toque personal al cesto.

En realidad es un DIY que no tiene ninguna complicación pero me ha parecido buena idea compartir el tutorial ya que este verano este tipo de cestos están muy de moda.

P.D: Mi primer DIY veraniego

This summer a friend of mine gave me a round basket bag and Cristina from  My World of Wool sent me via  Instagram a lot of ideas to customise it.

So... I thought it was the perfect occasion to continue with my plan of using the zpagetti bobbins I have at home and before I realised I was already making some zpagetti tassels to add my personal touch to the basket bag.

Actually it is a very easy DIY but I thought it was a good idea to share the tutorial as this summer this type of basket bags are very trendy.

MATERIALES

Hilo: Un poco de trapillo en colores variados e hilo de algodón en colores que resalten

Una aguja lanera

Tijeras

MATERIALS

Yarn: A  little bit of zpagetti in different colours and some cotton yarn in contrasting colours

One wool sewing needle

A pair of scissors

INSTRUCCIONES

• Cortar 8 tiras de trapillo de aproximadamente 24 cm cada una (dependiendo del grosor del trapillo y del resultado que queramos para la borla podemos añadir o quitar tiras o cortarlas más o menos largas)
• Cortar un trozo de hilo de algodón de unos 10 cm de largo

INSTRUCTIONS

• Cut 8 straps of zpaggetti of approximately 24 cm each (depending on the thickness of the zpagetti and on the result we want for the tassel we can add or remove straps or cut them longer or shorter)  
• Cut a piece of cotton yarn about 10 cm long

• Doblar las tiras de trapillo por la mitad y fijarlas con firmeza con el hilo de algodón
• Dar varias vueltas con el hilo de algodón alrededor de las tiras de trapillo y fijarlo con un nudo

• Fold the zpagetti straps in half and fix them firmly with the cotton yarn
• Pass the cotton yarn several times around the zpagetti straps and fix it with a knot 

• Cortar otro trozo de hilo de algodón de otros 10 cm de largo
• Manteniendo las tiras de trapillo dobladas hacia abajo, dar varias vueltas con el hilo de algodón alrededor de las tiras de trapillo y fijarlo con un nudo

• Cut another piece of cotton yarn of another 10 cm long
• Keeping the zpagetti straps folded downwards, pass the cotton yarn several times around the zpagetti straps and fix it with a knot 

• Cortar otro trozo de hilo de algodón de la largura deseada para la borla
• Fijar el hilo de algodón introduciéndolo con la aguja lanera por la parte en la que se pliegan las tiras de trapillo.

• Cut another piece of cotton yarn as long as desired for the tassel
• Fix the cotton yarn by passing it with the wool sewing needle in the point where the zpagetti straps are folded

• Cortar e igualar las tiras de trapillo para que la borla sea proporcionada

• Cut and make equal the zpagetti straps so the tassel looks balanced

• Repetir las instrucciones cuantas veces se quiera y... ¡a colgar las borlas en el cesto!

• Repeat the instructions as many times as wanted and... hang the tassels in the basket bag!

The Crafter's Home # 5 - IDA Interior Lifestyle

El blog de Ilaria IDA Interior Lifestyle fue uno de los primeros que  empecé a seguir y enseguida me enganchó con sus coloridas creaciones de ganchillo e ideas de decoración.

Aunque es de nacionalidad italiana, Ilaria vive desde hace años en Eindoven (Holanda) con su marido y sus dos hijos en la que ella llama cariñosamente la "Happy House " y, en mi opinión, el adjetivo no podría ser más acertado.

Se nota que es una experta en decoración con muy buen gusto y su hogar es una auténtica "casa Pinterest" donde se mezclan sus labores de ganchillo y DIY, objetos vintage y muebles de estilo nórdico.

De verdad que no se me ocurre mejor forma de empezar la semana que descubriendo la "Happy House ".

One of the first blogs I started following was Ilaria's IDA Interior Lifestyle and I quickly became addicted by her colourful crochet works and decoration ideas.

Although she is Italian, Ilaria lives in Eindoven (Netherlands) with her husband and their two children since many years ago in what she lovingly calls the "Happy House" and, in my opinion, the adjective couldn't be more correct.

It's obvious that she is a decoration expert with very good taste and her home  is a real  "Pinterest house" with a mix of her crochet and DIY creations, vintage objects and nordic style furniture.

Honestly I cannot think of a better way to start the week than discovering the "Happy House".
