Happy (Crafting) Weekend

Todavía es pronto para sacar las lanas gorditas pero no para empezar a planificar proyectos para los próximos meses de otoño e invierno.

Como siempre arrastro labores que no he terminado pero también tengo ideas nuevas que estoy deseando hacer así que tengo tarea de sobra para cuando llegue el frío de verdad.

En realidad sé que mi planificación irá cambiando sobre la marcha porque me resulta casi imposible resistirme cuando veo un patrón bonito pero bueno... el efecto sorpresa también tiene su encanto.

P.D: Lo que tejí el invierno pasado

It is still soon to take out chunky wool but not to start planning projects for the following autumn and winter months.

As usual I bring some knits that I haven't finished but I also have new ideas that I am eager to make so I have enough work to do when real cold weather arrives.

Actually I know that my planning will be changing along the way because it is almost impossible for me to resist when I see a beautiful pattern but well... the effect of surprise has its own charm too.

De compras en Madrid / Shopping in Madrid - Black Oveja

En mi viaje a Madrid no podía faltar una visita a una tienda de labores así que aprovechando la cercanía con el barrio de Malasaña me acerqué a Black Oveja , una tienda que llevaba queriendo conocer desde que la inauguraron ya que su blog fue uno de los primeros que descubrí cuando empecé con todo esto.

Nada más llegar me preocupé un poco porque la persiana del escaparate estaba bajada y pensé que estaba cerrado (ya me temía otro disgusto como el de Loop  en Londres) pero por suerte no fue así.

Cuando entré me sorprendió porque pensaba que la tienda era más grande pero igualmente resultaba muy acogedor estar rodeada de tantas telas y ovillos de colores.

Esta vez no había hecho ninguna lista de la compra previa así que, como era de esperar, estuve un rato mirando y mirando sin saber qué comprar. Me encantaron los conos de algodón y de verdad que me hubiera llevado unos cuantos pero no era lo más práctico porque todavía me quedaba un largo día de turismo por Madrid... 

Al final opté por un pack  de fat quarters  porque las telas bonitas son otra de mis debilidades y no es algo que compre con tanta frecuencia como ovillos de lana y algodón.

Lo que más me gusta de estas pequeñas compras es que de esta manera asocio cada proyecto con un viaje y es algo muy especial.

During my trip to Madrid I couldn't miss a visit to a crafts shop so considering its proximity to Malasaña quarter I went to Black Oveja, a shop I've been wanting to go to since its opening as their blog was one of the first ones I found when I started with all this.

As I arrived I was a little bit worried as the shop window shutters were down and I thought it was closed (I was fearing another disappointment as the one I had at  Loop in London) but luckily it wasn't like that.

When I came in I was suprised because I thought the shop was bigger but equally it was really warm to be surrounded by so many colourful fabrics and skeins.

This time I didn't have any previous shopping list so, as it was to expect, I spent a long while looking and looking without knowing what to buy. I loved cotton yarn cones and I would have really taken some of them but it was not the most practical thing to do as I still had a long day of tourism in Madrid...

Finally I chose a fat quarters pack because beautiful fabrics are also one of my weaknesses and it is something I don't buy as often as wool and cotton skeins.

What I like the most about this little purchases is that this way I link each project with a trip and it is something very special.

Rosie the Dachshund

Este es un proyecto que tenía muchas ganas de enseñaros, el perrito teckel de amigurumi que hice en verano siguiendo el patrón "Rosie the Dachshund"  del libro "Edward's Menagerie: Dogs"   del que ya os he hablado por aquí y en Instagram.

Cuando compré el libro me pareció el libro de amigurumi más bonito del mundo y después de hacer mi primer patrón sigo pensando lo mismo. 

Me encanta la idea poder hacer un perro de ganchillo que se parece tanto a un perro de verdad y que sus dueños al verlo digan "¡Es igual!",  como me ocurrió en este caso.

Como ya prometí, este es el comienzo de muchos más perritos...

This is a project I was really looking forward to showing you, the amigurumi teckel dog I made this summer following "Rosie the Dachshund" pattern from the book  "Edward's Menagerie: Dogs" which I told you about here and via   Instagram.

When I bought the book I thought it was the most beautiful amigurumi book in the world and after making my first pattern I keep thinking the same.

I love the idea of being able to make a crochet dog which looks so much like a real dog and that his/her owners say  "It's like him/her!" when they see it, as it happened in this case.

As I already promised, this is the beginning of many more little dogs...

Viaje a Madrid / Trip to Madrid

Este año he despedido el verano con un viaje de fin de semana a Madrid y aunque no estuve mucho tiempo me vino muy bien para desconectar y visitar sitios nuevos que no conocía.

En realidad he estado en Madrid varias veces y cada una ha sido diferente. Siempre hay sitios nuevos que descubrir y en esta ocasión no ha sido menos: la Gran Vía , el barrio de Malasaña  con sus tiendas y locales tan de moda, comida rica, exposiciones, las vistas nocturnas desde la azotea del Círculo de Bellas Artes , el ambiente de Chueca ... y, por supuesto, buena compañía.

Ya sabéis que a mí me encanta viajar y es que resulta increíble lo bien que sienta cambiar de aires aunque sea  por un fin de semana.

This year I said goodbye to summer with a weekend trip to Madrid and although I didn't spend too much time there it was perfect for taking a break and visiting new places I didn't know.

Actually I have been in Madrid several times and each of them was different. There are always new places to discover and in this occasion also as it had to be:  Gran Via, Malasaña and its cool shops and bars, exhibitions, yummy food, night views from  Circulo de Bellas Artes rooftop, Chueca atmosphere... and, of course, good company.

You already know that I love traveling and the thing is that it seems incredible how good it is to change of scene even only for the weekend.
