Esta última semana he estado desaparecida del blog porque he hecho una pequeña escapada antes de que llegue el frío de verdad.
El destino tenía que haber sido Italia pero por cosas de la vida (y de Ryanair) al final no pudo ser y en el último momento decidimos optar por Edimburgo, una ciudad con la que tenía una cuenta pendiente desde hace tiempo (la última vez que estuve allí tenía 15 años y guardo muy buen recuerdo así que siempre he querido volver).
Muchos aspectos de la ciudad siguen tal y como los recordaba pero en cierto modo
ha sido como redescubrirla porque con el paso del tiempo las cosas se ven desde otra perspectiva.
El viaje ha sido breve pero
hemos aprovechado bien el tiempo y hemos disfrutado callejeando por la zona de
Old Town (no podía faltar recorrer la
Royal Mile ni las casas de colores de
Victoria Street),
paseando en la
New Town (con visita obligada a los pubs de
Rose Street y a las tiendas de
George Street ), dedicando tiempo a visitar la
Galería Nacional de Arte Moderno y las zonas de
Stockbridge y
Leith... y más.
Por supuesto
también he aprovechado para ir de compras, pero eso ya os lo cuento otro día...
This last week I've been disappeared from the blog because I've made a little trip before real cold weather arrives.
The destination should have been Italy by due to life (and Ryanair) circumstances it couldn't finally be and in the last moment we decided to choose Edinburgh, a city I had a score to settle with since a long time ago (the last time I was there I was 15 years old and I have very good memories so I have always wanted to come back).
Many of the aspects of the city remain the same as I remembered them but somehow it was like rediscovering it because with the passing of time we see things from another perspective.
The trip was short but we have made the most of our time and we have enjoyed wandering in the Old Town (we couldn't miss walking the Royal Mile nor colourful houses in Victoria Street), going for a walk in the New Town (with an obliged visit to Rose Street pubs and George Street shops) and having some time to visit the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art and the areas of Stockbridge and Leith... and more.
Of course I have also gone shopping, but I will tell you about it another day...
