Mis DIY favoritos / My favorite DIYs #33 - "My favorite book" crochet bookmark

 

El comienzo de septiembre es el momento ideal de volver a las buenas costumbres, como leer un buen libro, así que hoy os propongo un DIY muy original que sirve para no perder la pista de nuestra lectura.

Se trata de un marcapáginas de ganchillo con forma de corazón diseñado por BettaKnit que está disponible de forma gratuita en su página web.

Me parece un regalo perfecto para que el comienzo de curso sea más agradable además de una oportunidad estupenda para utilizar restos de hilos.

The beginning of September is the right moment to return to good old habits, as reading a good book, so today I will recommend you a very original DIY that will serve to not lose sight from our reading.

It consists of a heart shaped crochet bookmark designed by  BettaKnit that is available for free on their web.

I think it is a perfect gift to make the beginning of the classes more pleasant in addition to being a magnificent opportunity to use scrap yarn.

Bolsa de red tulipán / Tulip filet crochet bag

Hace unas semanas publiqué una bolsita de red decorada con un tulipán en mi cuenta de Instagram  y prometí compartir el patrón así que, cumpliendo mi palabra, hoy os explico cómo hacerla.

Lo más importante de este DIY es conocer la técnica "filet crochet"  que ya utilicé en este "IKEA Hack"  hace unos años y que es tan sencilla como saber hacer cadenetas y puntos altos de ganchillo.

A couple of  weeks ago I posted a filet crochet sachet with a tulip on my  Instagram account and I promised to share the pattern so, keeping my word, today I will tell you how to make it.

The most important thing about this DIY is knowing "filet crochet" technique which I already used in this  "IKEA Hack" some years ago and it is as simple as knowing how to make crochet chains and double crochet stitches.

INSTRUCCIONES

Hilo: Hilo de algodón nº 3 (yo he utilizado DROPS Loves You 9  en color coral)

Aguja: Aguja de ganchillo nº 3 (1.75 mm)

Punto utilizado: Filet crochet (podéis ver un tutorial en español aquí y otro en inglés aquí).

Pasos:

• Montar 48 puntos de cadeneta y unir los puntos para seguir trabajando en circular.
• Seguir el diagrama que se indica a continuación utilizando la técnica de filet crochet, dibujando el tulipán en los diez puntos centrales.
• Una vez terminado el diagrama, hacer un punto bajo en cada punto y cerrar pasando el hilo por el último punto (48 puntos)
• Coser la parte de abajo de la bolsa
• Para la cuerda del cierre: montar una cadeneta que mida aproximadamente 45 cm (o la largura que prefieras) y hacer un punto enano en cada cadeneta

INSTRUCTIONS

Yarn: Cotton yarn nº 3 (I have used  DROPS Loves You 9 in coral colour)

Needle: Nº 3 crochet hook (1.75 mm)

Sitch used: Filet crochet (you can find a tutorial in English here and another one in Spanish here)

Steps:

• Cast on 48 chain stitches and join the stitches to start working in the round
• Follow the chart above using filet crochet technique, drawing the tulip on the ten stitches in the middle
• Once you have finished the chart, make one single crochet on every stitch and close by pulling the yarn through the last stitch (48 stitches)
• Sew the bottom of the bag
• For the closing rope: cast on a chain measuring aproximately 45 cm (or the length you prefer) and make one slip stitth on each chain stitch

           

Teje tu propio - jersey inspiración Sézane / Knit your own - Sézane inspired sweater

 

Hace unos meses os contaba cómo cada vez que veo una prenda de punto que me gusta mucho tengo la tentación de intentar tejerla y esto es algo que me ocurre a menudo con los preciosos jerséis de la marca francesa Sézane.

La verdad es que como tejedora me parece muy entretenido encontrar ideas similares y, casi por casualidad, he dado con el patrón "Elna T-shirt"  de Novita Knits  que bien podría ser una alternativa perfecta para tejer una versión hecha a mano del jersey de punto "Marceau"  de la colección de primavera de Sézane  del año pasado.

Obviamente es imposible que el resultado sea el mismo pero no hay que olvidar que en la moda es muy importante experimentar y esta podría ser la  ocasión perfecta para hacerlo.

¿Qué os parece mi propuesta? 

A couple of months ago I told you how each time I see a knit garment that I like a lot I am tempted to trying to knit it and this is something that happens quite often to me with  Sézane brand beautiful sweaters.

Actually as a knitter I find quite entertaining finding similar ideas and, almost by chance, I stumbled upon  "Elna T-shirt" pattern by Novita Knits that could perfectly be the ideal alternative to knit a handmade version of the  "Marceau" knit sweater from last year's Sézane spring collection.

Obviously it is impossible that the result is the same but it is importan not to forget that in fashion it is very important to experiment and this could be the perfect occasion to do it.

Posavasos de fieltro en forma de nube / Cloud shaped felt coasters

 

Después de haber tenido una experiencia más que positiva con el fieltrado con este salvamenteles de cuadros Vichy, he vuelto a repetir la técnica pero esta vez para hacer unos posavasos de lana con forma de nube.

La idea era hacer algo un poco diferente y, después de pensar varias opciones, encontré este patrón para hacer nubes de ganchillo que me pareció perfecto para lo que estaba buscando.

Así que, escogí los colores para mis nubes entre varios ovillos de DROPS Eskimo  que tenía en mi "stash"  y, después de terminar de darles forma con el ganchillo, seguí la técnica de fieltrado en lavadora propuesta para este tipo de lana.

El resultado, un nuevo juego de posavasos que se incorpora a mi colección porque, aunque pueda parecer lo contrario, nunca se suficientes posavasos.

¿Os animáis a hacerlos?

After having a more than positive experience with felting with this Gingham potholder, I have repeated the technique but this time to make some cloud shaped wool coasters.

The idea was to make something a little bit different and, after thinking several options, I found this pattern to make crochet clouds which I found perfect for what I was looking for.

So, I chose the colours for my clouds among several  DROPS Eskimo skeins I had in my "stash" and, after finisishing crocheting them, I followed the washing machine felting technique suggested for this type of wool.

The result, a new set of coasters that joins my collection as, even if it may seem the opposite, you can never have enough coasters.

Inspiración - Estilo francés / Inspiration - French style

 

Desde siempre me ha gustado mucho el estilo francés a la hora de vestir y casi inconscientemente lo he reproducido en algunos de los proyectos que he hecho hasta el momento, así que me ha parecido buena idea hacer una pequeña recopilación de patrones que representan a la perfección algunas prendas icónicas de la moda francesa.

Espero que os guste mi selección y, si tenéis curiosidad, podéis ver los proyectos de inspiración francesa que he hecho aquí.

I have always liked French clothing style a lot and almost unconsciously I have recreated it in some of the projects I have made so far, so I thought it was a good idea to make a small compilation of patterns that perfectly represent some iconic garments from French fashion.

Teje tu propio - jersey inspiración Ganni / Knit your own - Ganni inspired sweater

 

Como tejedora, cuando veo una prenda de punto que me gusta a veces me surge la tentación de lanzarme a la aventura de intentar tejer mi propia versión porque es como si comprando algo que puedo hacer yo misma me traicionara un poquito.

Así que, como estoy casi segura de que no sólo me pasa a mí, he decidido crear una sección con patrones inspirados en prendas de punto de marcas muy conocidas por si alguien quiere dar rienda suelta a su espíritu DIY con prendas que son tendencia (o lo han sido en algún momento).

Mi primera propuesta es un jersey de rayas de la marca danesa Ganni  para el que Caroline de "Silver Stone"  ha decidido compartir el patrón en su blog. 

Realmente no se me ocurre mejor manera de inaugurar la sección porque su versión tejida a mano me ha convencido (¡y mucho!).

¿Qué os parece?

As a knitter, when I see a knit garment that I like sometimes I am tempted to try to knit my own version because it is as if I betray myself somehow by buying something I can make myself.

So, as I am almost sure that this doesn't only happen to me, I have decided to create a section with patterns inspired in knit garments from renowned brands just in case someone wants to unleash their DIY spirit with items which are a trend (or have been one at some moment).

My first proposal is a striped sweater by Danish brand  Ganni for which  Caroline from  "Silver Stone" has decided to share the pattern in her blog.

Honestly I can't think of a better way to start this section as her hand knitted version has convinced me (so much!).

Make Nine Challenge 2021

 

Como ya os adelanté en mi entrada anterior, después de haber tenido una experiencia muy positiva, este año me he animado a participar otra vez en el desafío "Make Nine Challenge"  de  Home Row Fiber Co.

Una vez más he intentado seguir la misma premisa de sostenibilidad y he seleccionado proyectos que puedo hacer con algunos de los ovillos que tengo en casa y, aunque ha habido lugar para algún que otro capricho, creo este año también voy a conseguir reducir mi "stash".

Por otro lado, también he intentado ser práctica y he escogido varios jerséis (entre ellos el "Holiday Sweater"  de PetiteKnit  que me quedó pendiente el año pasado) porque al final es lo que más utilizo y disfruto mucho tejiéndolos.

Espero que os guste mi selección (podéis ver toda la información sobre cada proyecto debajo de la foto).

As I already advanced in my previous post, after having a very positive experience, this year I have encouraged myself to participate again in the  "Make Nine Challenge" by  Home Row Fiber Co.

Once more I have tried to follow the same premise of sustainability and I have chosen projects that I can make with some of the skeins I have at home and, although there has been place to some treats, I think this year I will also succeed in reducing my "stash".

On the other hand, I have also tried to be practical and I have chosen several sweaters (among them  "Holiday Sweater" by  PetiteKnit which I didn't make last year) because in the end it's what I use the most and I really enjoy knitting them.

Make Nine Challenge 2020 - Proyectos terminados / Make Nine Challenge 2020 - Finished projects

Después de estar todo el año hablando del "Make Nine Challenge"  ha llegado el momento de hacer balance del resultado.

Siendo un poco flexible podría decir que he cumplido con mi desafío porque he terminado nueve proyectos de las mismas características de los que seleccioné. Es decir, en tres casos no he hecho los diseños que originalmente escogí sino que los he sustituido por otros proyectos que tenía sin terminar y que eran muy similares.

En realidad, lo que pretendía era sobre todo ajustarme a unas ideas concretas y utilizar ovillos que ya tenía en casa así que, si a esto le sumo el haber terminado algunos proyectos olvidados, creo que la experiencia ha sido más que positiva para mí.

De hecho me ha gustado tanto el desafío que este año voy a volver a participar y espero poder decidirme pronto por los nuevos proyectos que voy a hacer durante 2021.

After spending the whole year speaking about the "Make Nine Challenge" it is the moment to evaluate the result. 

Being a little bit flexible I could say that I have achieved my challenge because I have finished nine projects with the same characteristics as the ones I selected. That is, in three cases I haven't done the designs that I initally chose but I have replaced them by other unfinished projects that were very similar.

Actually, what I expected above all was to adjust myself to some specific ideas and to use yarn I already had at home so, if I add having finished some forgotten projects to this, I think that the experience has been more than positive for me.

In fact I liked the challenge so much that this year I will participate again and I hope to be able to decide soon about the new projects that I will be making in 2021.

Beatnik Sweater

Uno de mis objetivos principales de este año ha sido terminar algunos proyectos que tenía abandonados y, después de la mantita de "granny squares", le ha tocado el turno al "Beatnik Sweater"  de Nora Gaughan.

Todo empezó en 2014 con un KAL  organizado por Tricotoseando y, aunque el principio estaba muy entusiasmada con el proyecto, tengo que reconocer que se me "atragantaron" un poco las trenzas y el jersey acabó olvidado en mi cesta de labores cuando ya casi estaba terminado.

Me daba mucho pereza retomarlo pero, para mi sorpresa, esta vez he disfrutado mucho tejiendo las tan temidas trenzas y casi ni me he enterado cuando ha llegado el turno de hacer las mangas.

Lo mejor de todo es que es un jersey precioso y, aunque tenía miedo de no haber acertado con la talla, al final me queda perfecto así que estoy muy feliz de haber terminado mi "Beatnik Sweater"  después de tanto tiempo.

One of my main goals this year has been to finish some projects I had quitted and, after the granny squares mini blanket, it was the turn of the  "Beatnik Sweater" by  Nora Gaughan.

Everything started in 2014 with a KAL organised by  Tricotoseando and, although at first I was very excited with the project, I have to admit that I really "struggled" with the cables and the sweater ended left behind in my crafts basket when it was almost finished.

I was too lazy to start with it again but, to my surprise, this time I have enjoyed knitting the so feared cables and I didn't almost notice when it was the turn to make the sleeves.

The best part is that it is a beautiful sweater and, although I was a little bit scared of having chosen the wrong size, in the end it fits me perfectly so I am very happy for having finished my  "Beatnik Sweater" after so many time.

Cosas que me gustan / Things I like # 47 - Celtic Comfort blanket by Drops Design

Ahora que empieza a hacer frío de verdad es cuando más apetece pasar tiempo en casa y, no vamos a negarlo, el plan de "peli, sofá y manta" es lo que nos viene a todos a la cabeza.

Desde el punto de vista de las personas que tejemos, podríamos añadir a esta combinación una buena labor que acompañe las tardes de sofá y es aquí donde he encontrado el que podría ser un proyecto perfecto para hacer este invierno, la manta "Celtic Comfort"  de Drops Design .

Seguramente lo ideal hubiera sido empezarla hace unas semanas para tenerla ya terminada pero a mí me gusta que las labores que estoy haciendo en cada momento acompañen a la estación, especialmente cuando hace frío porque no hay nada más agradable que tejer con lana bien gordita y calentita en pleno invierno.

¿No os parece un diseño perfecto para tejer estos días?

Now that cold weather has begun for real it is when it feels more like staying at home and, we can't deny it, the "films, couch and blanket" plan is what we all think about.

From a knitter point of view, we could add a good kntting work that would go well with couch afternoons and here is where I have found what could be a perfect project to make this winter,  "Celtic Comfort" blanket by  Drops Design.

Probably the best thing would have been to start it a couple of weeks ago to have it already finished but I like that the projects that I am making in each moment match with the season, specially when it is cold because there's is nothing more pleasant that knitting with thick and warm wool in the middle of the winter.

Princess Chantilly

 

Desde que descubrí el patrón de la mantita "Princess Chantilly"  de DROPS Design  se ha convertido en uno de mis diseños más recurrentes cuando tengo que hacer algo para bebés

Sin embargo, ya sabéis que cuando repito algún patrón me gusta cambiar el color o el tipo de hilo y, en este ocasión, aproveché para probar el tono "rosado polvo" de DROPS Merino Extrafine que sólo había visto en su web y resultó ser todo un acierto, es el color rosa perfecto.

De momento no tengo ningún proyecto para bebé en mi lista pero estoy casi segura de que no será la última vez que os hable de este diseño...

P.D: Mis otras mantitas "Princess Chantilly" en beige y en crudo

Since I discovered the baby blanket pattern  "Princess Chantilly" by  DROPS Design it has become one of my more recurrent designs when I have to make something for babies.

However, you already know that when I repeat a pattern I like to change the colour or the type of yarn and, in this case, I took advantage to try the shade "powder pink" by  DROPS Merino Extrafine that I had only seen on their web and it was such a good decision, it is the perfect pink colour.

At the moment I don't have any baby project on my list but I am almost sure that this won't be the last time I tell you about this design...

Inspiración: Patrones de jerséis de punto para hombre / Inspiration: Men's knit sweaters patterns

 

Últimamente la cosa va de jerséis de punto y es que, no puedo evitarlo, estamos en plena temporada "sweater weather"  y no hay nada que me guste más que un buen jersey de lana.

Esta vez, sin embargo, mis propuestas van a ser un poco diferentes porque he seleccionado cinco patrones de jerséis de punto para hombres que me gustan por distintos motivos: por ser el clásico jersey de estilo nórdico, por su colorido, por la originalidad del patrón e, incluso, por ser la excusa perfecta para ir vestidos a juego sin que se note demasiado.

¿Adivináis cuál es mi diseño favorito?

Lately everything is about knit sweaters as, I can't help it, we are in full "sweater weather" season and there is nothing I like more than a good wool sweater.

This time, however, my proposals will be a little bit different because I have chosen five patterns of men's knit sweater that I like for differente reasons: because it is the classic nordic style sweater, because its colours, for the originality of the pattern and, even, because it is the perfect excuse to wear matching outfits without being too obvious.

DIY - Salvamanteles Vichy de fieltro / DIY - Felted Gingham potholder

En mi "stash"  hay un poco de todo y, como ya sabéis, este año estoy muy concienciada en usar lo que tengo así que he pensado una idea DIY para utilizar unos ovillos de DROPS Eskimo  que tenía sin utilizar.

La particularidad de este tipo de hilo es que, como es 100% lana, es ideal para fieltrar por lo que me ha parecido la oportunidad perfecta para poner en práctica esta técnica haciendo un salvamanteles de fieltro con estampado Vichy.

Aunque puede parecer algo un poco complicado, os aseguro que no tiene ninguna dificultad más allá de ser capaz de tejer del derecho del revés y de saber utilizar una lavadora...

De hecho, me parece que el fieltrado tiene muchas posibilidades creativas así que seguramente no será la última vez que experimente con ello.

In my stash there's a little bit of everything and, as you already know, this year I am very aware of using what I already have so I have thought a DIY idea to use some  DROPS Eskimo skeins I had unused.

INSTRUCCIONES

Lana: DROPS Eskimo  en dos colores diferentes (o cualquier lana de características similares) - aproximadamente 10 gr.

Agujas: Agujas rectas de 8 mm

Puntos utilizados: Punto del derecho y punto del revés

Pasos:

• Montar 21 puntos o un número impar de puntos que sea múltiplo de 3
• Tejer alternando los colores según el diagrama Vichy (las vueltas pares del derecho y las impares del revés)

• Cerrar todos los puntos, cortar la hebra y rematar escondiendo la lana que sobra

• Fieltrar la pieza en la lavadora según las instrucciones que encontraréis aquí
• Bloquear bien la pieza para que quede con la forma y el tamaño que queremos

• ¡Disfrutar de vuestro salvamanteles de fieltro con estampado Vichy!

INSTRUCTIONS

Yarn: DROPS Eskimo in two different colours (or any other yarn with similar characteristics) - approximately 10 gr.

Needles: 8 mm / US 11 straight needles

Sitches used: Knit and Purl

Steps:

Cast on 21 stitches or an odd number of stitches multiple of 3 

Knit and purl alternating the colours according to the Gingham scheme (knit on even rows  and purl on odd ones)

• Cast off all the stitches, cut the yarn and weave in ends 

• Felt the piece in the washing machine according to the instructions you will find here
• Block the piece in order to obtain the desired form and size

• Enjoy your Gingham felt potholder!
