Happy (Crafting) Weekend

Con el buen tiempo recién estrenado sigo con mi costumbre de dedicar parte del fin de semana a mis labores, aunque ahora toque cambiar la lana por el algodón y estar más tiempo al aire libre.

En mi cabeza ya tengo un  montón de ideas que me gustaría hacer este verano pero me he prometido que primero tengo que terminar (algunos) de los proyectos ya empezados...

With warm weather just begun I continue my habit of spending part of the weekend crafting, although it is time to swap wool for cotton yarn and to stay more time outdoors.

In my head I already have a lot of ideas that I would like to make this summer but I have promised myself that first I have to finish (some) of the projects already started...

Viaje a Nueva Aquitania / Trip to New-Aquitaine

Este año en mis vacaciones he cambiado las playas del Mediterráneo por la Costa Atlántica y la semana pasada he estado recorriendo parte de la región de Nueva Aquitania en Francia.

Hasta ahora era una zona desconocida para mí aunque había oído hablar mucho de las Landas (está muy cerca de donde vivo y es un destino bastante popular) así que hacía tiempo que tenía ganas de visitarla.

En nuestro plan de ruta había un poco de todo: la bahía de Arcachon y sus pueblecitos y puertos ostricultores; la imponente Duna de Pyla; la maravillosa península de Cap Ferret; el encanto del País Vasco Francés; Hossegor y su ambiente surfero; Saint-Èmilion  y sus viñedos; y,  cómo no, la ciudad de Burdeos, señorial y moderna al mismo tiempo.

Es cierto que siempre vengo encantada de mis vacaciones pero en este caso ha sido una gran sorpresa y ahora me doy cuenta de que no podríamos haber escogido un destino mejor, lo que confirma mi teoría de que no es necesario irse a la otra punta del mundo para descubrir sitios espectaculares.

This year for my holidays I've exchanged the Mediterranean beaches for the Atlantic Cost and last week I've gone across a part of the New-Aquitaine region in France.

Until now this was an unkwnown area for me although I had heard a lot about the Landes (it is really close to where I live and it is a very popular destination) so I had been looking forward to visiting it for a long time.

In our route plan there was a little bit of everything: Arcachon bay and its oyster-farming villages and ports; the impressive Dune of Pilat; the wonderful Cap Ferret peninsule; the charm of the French Basque Country; Hossegor and its surfer atmosphere; Saint-Èmilion and its vineyards; and, how not, Bordeaux city, majestic and modern at the  same time.

It is true that I always come very happy from my holidays but in this case it was a great surprise and I now realize that we couldn't have chosen a better destination, which confirms my theory that it is not necessary to go to the other side of the world to discover amazing places.

¿Os acordáis del bolso de ganchillo de eccomin  del que os hablé hace un mes?

Bien, pues una vez más Tomoko  me ha sorprendido y tras saber que me gustaba tanto me ha hecho llegar el patrón para que pueda hacerlo. 

De verdad que no os podéis imaginar la ilusión que me hizo cuando me escribió para decírmelo... No sólo por el hecho de tener el patrón sino sobre todo porque es increíble cómo este mundo virtual de los blogs, Facebook, Instagram... nos une con personas a las que de otra manera nunca hubiéramos conocido. 

Puede parecer una tontería pero para mí es uno de los motivos principales para seguir publicando y compartiendo mis ideas y proyectos en las redes sociales.

Así que... después de este gesto tan bonito me he puesto a hacer el bolso en cuanto he podido y ya está casi terminado.

En realidad en mi caso es más un "bolsito" porque he utilizado un hilo diferente al sugerido en el patrón y como consecuencia es un poco más pequeño (pero igualmente bonito).

Prometo más fotos en cuanto esté terminado del todo.

Do you remember the crochet bag from  eccomin I told you about one month ago?

Well, once more Tomoko has surprised me and after knowing I liked it that much she sent me the pattern so I can make it.

You really can't imagine how happy I was when she wrote me to tell me about it... Not only by the fact that I have the pattern but mainly because it is incredible how this virtual world of blogs, Facebook, Instagram... can connect us with people we wouldn't have ever met otherwise.

It may seem something stupid but for me it is one of the main reasons to continue posting and sharing my ideas and projects in social networks.

So... after this beautiful gesture I have started crocheting the bag as soon as possible and I have almost finished it.

Actually in my case it is more of a "little bag" as I have used a yarn different to the one suggested in the pattern and as a result it is slightly smaller (but equally pretty).

I promise some more pictures when it is finally done.

Mis tiendas favoritas de Etsy / My favorite Etsy shops # 7 - MrLuiwood

Hace un tiempo curiosear las tiendas de Etsy  era una de mis aficiones preferidas y, aunque ya no tengo tanto tiempo para hacerlo, de vez en cuando sigo encontrando pequeñas joyas.

Uno de mis últimos descubrimientos ha sido la tienda de patrones de amigurumi  de MrLuiwood  que tiene unos muñecos de ganchillo realmente bonitos.

Mi favorito entre todos es el osito panda que ya os enseñé hace unas semanas pero el elefantito con jersey y la jirafa con cuello de lana también me parecen ideales.

Ya me estoy imaginando con mi pequeña familia de animalitos MrLuiwood...

Some time ago one of my favorite hobbies was to browse  Etsy shops and, although I don't have so much time to do it anymore, once in a while I keep finding little gems.

One of my latest discoveries is the  amigurumi pattern shop  MrLuiwood which has really beautiful crochet dolls.

My favorite among all of them is the little panda bear I already showed you some weeks ago but I also find the little elephant with a sweater and the giraffe with a wool cowl very cute.

I am already imagining myself with my wee family of MrLuiwood animals...

Happy (Crafting) Weekend

Hoy se celebra el Día Mundial de Tejer en Público  y aunque a mí me sobran motivos para pasarme todo el día tejiendo me parece una iniciativa muy buena promocionar un hábito tan sano como es dedicar un momento del día a relajarnos con nuestras agujas y ovillos.

La iniciativa consiste en varios eventos locales que se celebran en todo el mundo donde las personas se reúnen para tejer juntos y en público.

Por distintos motivos, yo no voy a poder unirme a uno de esos eventos pero no dudéis que encontraré tiempo para tejer en el jardín aprovechando que, además, por fin ha salido el sol.

¡Qué tejáis felices!

Today is  World Wide Knit in Public Day and although I have plenty of  reasons to spend the whole day knitting I think it is a very good iniative to promote such a healthy habit as spending a moment of the day relaxing with our needles and skeins.

The initiative consists of  several local events celebrated all around the world where people gather to knit together and in public.

For different reasons, I won't be able to join one of these events but don't doubt that I would find some time to knit in the garden  while enjoying that, in addition, the sun is finally out.

Angelito de amigurumi / Amigurumi angel

La última incorporación a mi historial de muñecos de ganchillo es un angelito de amigurumi  que una compañera de trabajo me pidió para el bautizo de su niña.

El punto de partida era una foto ella había encontrado en Internet y tras una pequeña búsqueda conseguí dar con el patrón perfectamente detallado (¡y gratis!) en Amigurumi Today   y pude hacerlo sin demasiada complicación.

Hasta ahora nunca había hecho ningún angelito de ganchillo pero creo que es un buen regalo para bebés así que me guardo la idea para otra ocasión.

The latest incorporation to my crochet dolls record is an  amigurumi angel a colleague from work asked me to make for the baptism of her baby girl.

The starting point was a picture she had found on the Internet and after a brief research I got the pattern perfectly detailed (and for free!) in Amigurumi Today and I could make it without much difficulty.

Until now I had never made any crochet angel but I think it is a good present for babies so I will keep the idea for another occasion.
