Cinch Me Crop

 

Este verano, además de tejer bolsos, también he encontrado el proyecto perfecto para unos ovillos de algodón de "We Are Knitters"  que me sobraron después de terminar el "Sabrina Sweater".

No estaba para nada en mi lista de proyectos de verano pero curioseando por Instagram  descubrí el top "Cinch Me Crop"  de Camille Mikolas  y enseguida pasó a ser una necesidad.

Por suerte o por desgracia, no tenía suficiente hilo así que al final tuve que hacer una versión sin mangas y la verdad es que creo que me gusta más así.

This summer, besides knitting bags, I have also found the perfect project for some cotton skeins from  "We Are Knitters" that I didn't use after finishing  "Sabrina Sweater".

It wasn't at all on my summer projects list but after nosing around  Instagram I found "Cinch Me Crop" top by  Camille Mikolas and it immediately became a need for me.

For better or worse, I didn't have enough yarn so at last I had to made a sleeveless version and honestly I think I like it more this way.

Delphinus

 

Después de casi dos meses he terminado el jersey "Delphinus"  de Aurélie Texier  publicado en el número 34 de Pom Pom Quarterly.

Tal y como me imaginaba justo antes de empezar a tejerlo, al ser un patrón diseñado para un hilo fino me ha llevado bastante tiempo hacerlo.

En mi caso he utilizado una mezcla de la ya desaparecida DROPS Lace  que tenía en mi "stash" junto con unos ovillos DROPS Brushed Alpaca Silk que compré especialmente para tejer el jersey y no puedo estar más contenta con el resultado.

Realmente ha habido momentos en los que pensaba que no iba a acabar nunca pero creo que el esfuerzo ha merecido la pena y, aunque probablemente tendré que esperar hasta el otoño que viene para ponérmelo, estoy segura de que se va a convertir en uno de mis jerséis favoritos.

After almost two months I have finished the "Delphinus" pullover by  Aurélie Texier published in issue number 34 of  Pom Pom Quarterly.

Just as I imagined right before start knitting it, as it is a pattern designed for a thin yarn it has taken me quite a  while to make it.

In my case I have used a mix of the already extinguished  DROPS Lace I had in my stash together with some DROPS Brushed Alpaca Silk I bought specially to knit the pullover and I can't be happier with the result.

Honestly there were some moments when I thought I was never going to finish but I think the effort was worth it and, although I will probably have to wait until next autumn to wear it, I am sure it is going to become one of my favorite sweaters.

Conjunto de bebé en lana / Wool baby outfit

A principios de mes ha sido el primer cumpleaños de mi sobrino Julen así que he aprovechado para tejerle un conjunto de bebé en lana, y es que viviendo en el norte todavía nos quedan días de frío incluso en primavera.

La elección sobre qué hacer no ha sido muy difícil ya que hace tiempo que tenía ganas de repetir el jersey con botones en el pecho (es uno de mis patrones favoritos para bebé desde que lo tejí por primera vez en 2016), pero esta vez en lugar de utilizar lana merino he escogido unos ovillos de  DROPS Nepal  en color crudo porque es una lana suave y muy calentita y, por lo tanto, más adecuada para esta época del año.

Como complemento he añadido un cuello de lana tejido con DROPS Andes  siguiendo el patrón "Snoody"  de Mlle. Sophie  que es muy sencillo pero también muy práctico y cómodo de llevar, sobre todo para los más pequeños.

La verdad es que no me canso de tejer cosas para bebé, incluso repitiendo ideas que ya he hecho en otras ocasiones disfruto mucho porque me encanta construir conjuntos con distintas piezas y elegir colores e hilos diferentes cada vez.

¿No me digáis que este conjunto no es una monada?

At the beginning of the month it was the first birthday of my nephew Julen so I took the opportunity to knit him a wool baby outfit, since living in the North of Spain there are still some cold days left even in spring.

The choice of what to make was not very difficult as I've been wanting to repat the sweater with buttons in the front for a while (it is one of my favorite patterns since I knitted it for the first time in 2016), but this time instead of using merino wool I have chosen some  DROPS Nepal skeins in ecru because it is a soft and very warm wool and, therefore, more appropriate for this season of the year.

As a complement, I have added a wool cowl knitted with  DROPS Andes following the  "Snoody" pattern by  Mlle. Sophie which is very simple but also very practical and easy to wear, specially for the little ones.

The truth is I never get tired of knitting things for babies, even repeating ideas I have previously made I enjoy it a lot because I love creating outfits with different pieces and choosing different colours and yarns each time.

Don't tell me this outfit is not a total cuteness?

Tengo una especie de tradición y es que me gusta empezar proyectos nuevos los domingos y la semana pasada ha sido el turno del jersey "Delphinus"  de Aurélie Tixier, uno de mis patrones favoritos del último número de otoño de "Pom Pom Quarterly".

Desde que recibí la revista en octubre he querido empezar a tejerlo pero necesitaba encontrar el momento adecuado, ya que soy consciente de que es un proyecto que me va a llevar bastante tiempo terminar.

También tengo claro que voy a acabar compaginándolo con otros proyectos más sencillos y rápidos de hacer, pero me gusta la idea de tener un proyecto que me acompañe durante un periodo más largo de tiempo.

Espero llevarme bien con él porque vamos a pasar mucho tiempo juntos...

I have a sort of tradition and it is that I like to start new projects on Sundays and last week it was the turn of  "Delphinus" sweater by  Aurélie Tixier, one of my favorite patterns from the latest  "Pom Pom Quarterly" autumn issue.

Since I received the magazine in October I've wanted to start knitting it but I needed to find the proper moment, as I am aware that it is a project that will take me quite a while to finish.

It is also clear to me that I would end up combining it with other projects more simple and quick to make, but I like the idea of having a project that will accompany me during a longer period of time.

I hope that we will get along well as we are going to spend a lot of time together...

Make Nine Challenge 2021

 

Como ya os adelanté en mi entrada anterior, después de haber tenido una experiencia muy positiva, este año me he animado a participar otra vez en el desafío "Make Nine Challenge"  de  Home Row Fiber Co.

Una vez más he intentado seguir la misma premisa de sostenibilidad y he seleccionado proyectos que puedo hacer con algunos de los ovillos que tengo en casa y, aunque ha habido lugar para algún que otro capricho, creo este año también voy a conseguir reducir mi "stash".

Por otro lado, también he intentado ser práctica y he escogido varios jerséis (entre ellos el "Holiday Sweater"  de PetiteKnit  que me quedó pendiente el año pasado) porque al final es lo que más utilizo y disfruto mucho tejiéndolos.

As I already advanced in my previous post, after having a very positive experience, this year I have encouraged myself to participate again in the  "Make Nine Challenge" by  Home Row Fiber Co.

Once more I have tried to follow the same premise of sustainability and I have chosen projects that I can make with some of the skeins I have at home and, although there has been place to some treats, I think this year I will also succeed in reducing my "stash".

On the other hand, I have also tried to be practical and I have chosen several sweaters (among them  "Holiday Sweater" by  PetiteKnit which I didn't make last year) because in the end it's what I use the most and I really enjoy knitting them.

Beatnik Sweater

Uno de mis objetivos principales de este año ha sido terminar algunos proyectos que tenía abandonados y, después de la mantita de "granny squares", le ha tocado el turno al "Beatnik Sweater"  de Nora Gaughan.

Todo empezó en 2014 con un KAL  organizado por Tricotoseando y, aunque el principio estaba muy entusiasmada con el proyecto, tengo que reconocer que se me "atragantaron" un poco las trenzas y el jersey acabó olvidado en mi cesta de labores cuando ya casi estaba terminado.

Me daba mucho pereza retomarlo pero, para mi sorpresa, esta vez he disfrutado mucho tejiendo las tan temidas trenzas y casi ni me he enterado cuando ha llegado el turno de hacer las mangas.

Lo mejor de todo es que es un jersey precioso y, aunque tenía miedo de no haber acertado con la talla, al final me queda perfecto así que estoy muy feliz de haber terminado mi "Beatnik Sweater"  después de tanto tiempo.

One of my main goals this year has been to finish some projects I had quitted and, after the granny squares mini blanket, it was the turn of the  "Beatnik Sweater" by  Nora Gaughan.

Everything started in 2014 with a KAL organised by  Tricotoseando and, although at first I was very excited with the project, I have to admit that I really "struggled" with the cables and the sweater ended left behind in my crafts basket when it was almost finished.

I was too lazy to start with it again but, to my surprise, this time I have enjoyed knitting the so feared cables and I didn't almost notice when it was the turn to make the sleeves.

The best part is that it is a beautiful sweater and, although I was a little bit scared of having chosen the wrong size, in the end it fits me perfectly so I am very happy for having finished my  "Beatnik Sweater" after so many time.

Inspiración: Patrones de jerséis de punto para hombre / Inspiration: Men's knit sweaters patterns

 

Últimamente la cosa va de jerséis de punto y es que, no puedo evitarlo, estamos en plena temporada "sweater weather"  y no hay nada que me guste más que un buen jersey de lana.

Esta vez, sin embargo, mis propuestas van a ser un poco diferentes porque he seleccionado cinco patrones de jerséis de punto para hombres que me gustan por distintos motivos: por ser el clásico jersey de estilo nórdico, por su colorido, por la originalidad del patrón e, incluso, por ser la excusa perfecta para ir vestidos a juego sin que se note demasiado.

¿Adivináis cuál es mi diseño favorito?

Lately everything is about knit sweaters as, I can't help it, we are in full "sweater weather" season and there is nothing I like more than a good wool sweater.

This time, however, my proposals will be a little bit different because I have chosen five patterns of men's knit sweater that I like for differente reasons: because it is the classic nordic style sweater, because its colours, for the originality of the pattern and, even, because it is the perfect excuse to wear matching outfits without being too obvious.

Water Clover

 

A principios de verano empecé a ganchillear  el top "Water Clover" de Isa Catepillán y, salvo por un "pequeño" detalle, puedo decir que está terminado y listo para estrenar.

Ese detalle es en realidad un error de principiante que hace que sea imposible que me lo pueda poner porque es demasiado pequeño.

Mientras lo iba haciendo empecé a sospechar que, a lo mejor, el resultado no iba a ser el que yo esperaba pero no tenía suficiente hilo para hacerlo más grande así que decidí terminarlo con la esperanza de que al bloquearlo "creciera" un poquito.

La verdad es que no sabría decir si el problema fue que escogí una talla pequeña, el hilo no era el adecuado o el tamaño de la aguja era demasiado pequeño. Igual fue una combinación de las tres cosas y que no hice la muestra...

En cualquier caso, no voy a poder ponérmelo pero mi idea es repetir el patrón con las medidas correctas porque me gusta mucho el diseño y creo que merece una segunda oportunidad.

At the beginning of summer I started crocheting  "Water Clover" top by Isa Catepillan and, except for a "small" detail, I can say that it is finished and ready to wear.

That detail is actually a beginner's mistake that makes it impossible for me to wear it as it is too small.

While I was making it I started to imagine that, maybe, the result was not going to be what I expected but I didn't have enough yarn to make it bigger so I decided to finish it hoping that it would "grow" a litte bit with the blocking.

In fact I couldn't say whether the problem was that I chose a small size, the yarn was not appropriate or the size of the hook was too small. Maybe it was a combination of all three things and that I didn't make the swatch...

Anyway, I won't be able to wear it but my idea is to repeat the pattern with the correct measures because I like the design a lot and I think it deserves a second chance.

Baby Bear

A finales de diciembre os daba pistas sobre algo que estaba tejiendo en color mostaza y, ahora que su pequeña destinataria ya ha nacido, por fin os puedo puedo enseñar el proyecto terminado.

Se trata de un bucito de bebé de punto con orejas de osito que he tejido siguiendo el patrón "Baby Bear"  de Amstrup,  algo muy diferente a todos los proyectos de bebé que he hecho hasta el momento.

La idea era hacer una prenda para utilizar los días de frío así que está tejido con hilo DROPS Nepal  que es una mezcla de lana y alpaca muy suave y calentita, sin olvidar que tiene un tono amarillo mostaza precioso (algo muy importante para este proyecto).

Para mi sorpresa se teje más rápido de lo que parece y hacer las trenzas siempre es muy entretenido así que ya se ha convertido en uno de mis patrones favoritos de prendas para bebés.

At the end  of december I gave you some hints about something I was knitting in mustard colour and, now that its wee recipient is born, I can finally show you the finished project.

It is a knitted baby onesie with bear ears that I have made following  "Baby Bear" pattern by  Amstrup, something very different to all the baby projects I have made so far.

The idea was to make an outfit to be used with cold weather so it is knitted with  DROPS Nepal yarn which is a very soft and warm mix of wool and alpaca, without forgetting its beautiful mustard yellow tone (something very important for this project).

To my surprise it is knitted faster than it seems and making the cables is always very entertaining so it has already become one of my favorite patterns for baby outfits.

Sunday Sweater

Uno de mis propósitos para este año era tejer el jersey "Sunday Sweater"  de PetiteKnit  y ya puedo decir que es uno de los proyectos que he terminado en 2019.

Al principio no tenía muy claro qué color elegir y tomé la decisión de una forma muy práctica: después de terminar el jersey "Garland"  me habían sobrado algunos ovillos color lila de DROPS Kid Silk  así que ya tenía la mitad del material y sólo me faltaba completar con unos ovillos de DROPS Air  en el mismo color.

Para mí sorpresa, es un patrón que se teje muy rápido y no hay que coser nada porque el jersey se teje en circular y de una sola pieza, realmente da gusto tejerlo.

La experiencia ha sido tan positiva que no descarto repetirlo en otro color y ya tengo algún diseño más de PetiteKnit  entre mis favoritos para tejer el año que viene.

One of my resolutions for this year was to knit PetiteKnit's "Sunday Sweater" and I can already say that is one of the projects I have finished in 2019.

At first I wasn't sure about which colour to choose and I made my decision in a very practical way: after finishing  "Garland" sweater I had some spare skeins from DROPS Kid Silk in lilac so I already had half of the material and I only needed to add some  DROPS Air skeins in the same colour.

To my surprise, it is a pattern which is knitted very quickly and there's no need to sew anything as the sweater is knitted in-the-round and in one piece, it's really nice to knit.

The experience has been so positive that I don't dismiss repeating it in another colour and I already have some other designs from  PetiteKnit among my favorites to knit next year.

Gorrito de bebé con orejas de conejito / Baby bunny hat

A principios de octubre os daba algunas pistas sobre algo que estaba ganchilleando y ahora por fin puedo enseñaros de qué se trataba, un gorrito de bebé con orejas de conejito.

Siempre me han gustado este tipo de gorritos de bebé y, aunque hay muchos modelos diferentes, he elegido este patrón de Ravelry  porque me parece realmente bonito. 

Mi idea inicial era hacerlo utilizando sólo DROPS Alpaca Bouclé  que tiene un efecto como de borreguito muy agradable pero quedaba demasiado fino, así que decidí combinarlo con DROPS Merino Extrafine en los mismos colores y al final ha quedado un gorrito de bebé muy mono y calentito.

Realmente no sé si este tipo de gorros son muy prácticos pero creo que pueden quedar muy bonitos en una sesión de fotos de bebé, ¿no os parece?

At the beginning of october I gave you some hints about something I was crocheting and now I can finally show you what it was, a baby bunny hat.

I have always liked this kind of baby hats and, although there are many different designs, I chose this pattern from  Ravelry because I think it is specially pretty.

My initial idea was to make it using only  DROPS Alpaca Bouclé that has a sheepskin effect  which is very nice but it was too thin so I decided to combine it with  DROPS Merino Extrafine in the same colours and the result is a very cute and warm baby hat.

Actually I don't know if this kind of hats are very practical but I think that they can look very pretty in a baby photoshoot, don't you think so?

Mon Petit Coeur ♥

Hacía tiempo que no os enseñaba cosas para bebés y hoy vuelvo con uno de mis diseños favoritos, el jersey "Mon Petit Coeur" .

Como ya os conté a principios de octubre, esta vez he utilizado la lana DROPS Big Merino  que es un poco más gordita que la que he usado en otras ocasiones.

La diferencia con respecto a los anteriores es que con este tipo de lana el jersey es mucho más calentito así que resulta más apropiado para las estaciones frías.

De verdad que es un modelo que encanta tejer y me parece que siempre queda muy bonito.

It's been a long time since I last showed you things for babies and today I am back with one of my favorite designs,  "Mon Petit Coeur" sweater.

As I already told you at the beginning of October, this time I have used  DROPS Big Merino wool which is a little bit chunkier than the one I have used other times.

The difference with regards to the previous ones is that with this kind of wool the sweater is much more warmer so it is better for cold seasons.

It really is a design I love to knit and I think it always looks very pretty.

Cosas que me gustan / Things I like # 44 - Zig Zag Jumper

Ahora que ha llegado el frío es el momento "Sweater Weather"  y no he podido evitar acordarme del jersey "Zig Zag Jumper" de Mrs. Moon  que descubrí gracias a Loop London  justo antes de primavera.

Con su diseño sencillo de lana gordita y colores flúor, me parece el jersey perfecto para llevar en invierno a medio camino entre un fin de semana en la nieve y una prenda especial que te alegra un día normal.

Creo que ya tengo proyecto favorito para tejer este invierno...


Now that cold weather has arrived it is  "Sweater Weather" season and I couldn't help but remembering  "Zig Zag jumper" by  Mrs. Moon which I discovered thanks to  Loop London  just before spring.

With its simple design of bulky yarn and neon colours, I find it the perfect sweater to wear in winter halfway a weekend in the snow and a special garment that brightens up an ordinary day.

I think I already have a favorite project to knit this winter...

Davallia by Isa Catepillán

Tal y como os adelantaba a principios de agosto, he terminado el jersey  Davallia  diseñado por  Isa Catepillán.

Desde el principio fue el patrón que más me llamó la atención del número de primavera de Pom Pom  y aunque he tardado casi dos meses en terminarlo, ha merecido la pena porque es realmente una prenda muy especial.

Como me gustaba mucho, quería conseguir un acabado lo más parecido posible al original (pero a un precio más asequible) así que opté por unos ovillos de DROPS Belle con mezcla de algodón, viscosa y lino que sabía que quedarían genial para darle ese aire rústico que tiene el diseño original de Isa Catepillán.

En cuanto a la talla, me decidí por la opción más pequeña del patrón porque tenía miedo de que me quedara demasiado grande y creo que he acertado con mi elección porque, aunque no es tan largo como en las fotos originales, tiene el tamaño perfecto para mí.

Por suerte todavía quedan algunos días de verano así que intentaré hacerme alguna foto con el jersey puesto para enseñaros lo bonito que queda.

As I already told you in advance at the beginning of august, I have finished  Davallia cardigan designed by  Isa Catepillán.

Since the beginning it was the pattern which grabbed my attention the most from the spring issue of  Pom Pom and although it has taken me almost two months to finish it, it is worth it because it really is a very special garment.

As I liked it a lot, I wanted it to look as similar to the original as possible (at a more affordable price though) so I chose some  DROPS Belle skeins with a mix of cotton, viscose and linen which I already knew that would be great to add the rustic touch of  Isa Catepillan's original design.

With regard to the size, I decided to make the smallest one from the pattern as I was afraid that it would be to big for me and I think I took the right decision because, although it is not as long as in the original pictures, it is the perfect size for me.

Luckily there are still some summer days left so I will try to take a picture of me wearing the cardigan so I can show you how pretty it looks.
