Wool Lovers ♥ 10 - Illustrations

 

Todavía quedan algunas semanas de verano y es demasiado pronto para empezar a pensar en prendas de punto pero, mientras llega el momento, podemos buscar inspiración en ilustraciones relacionadas con el mundo de las labores.

Siempre me han gustado mucho las ilustraciones y últimamente estoy descubriendo muchas ilustradoras maravillosas (no sé por qué pero mis favoritas son siempre de mujeres) así que he hecho una pequeña selección de ilustraciones que representa a los amantes de la lana.

There are still some summer weeks left and it is too early to start thinking about knitwear but, until the moment arrives, we can look for some inspiration in crafts related illustrations.

I have always liked illustrations a lot and lately I am discovering many wonderful female illustrators (I don't know why but my favorites are always made by women) so I have made a small selection of illustrations that  represente wool lovers.

Wool Lovers ♥ 9 - Little Wilder

Desde el principio "Wool Lovers"  ha sido una de mis secciones favoritas del blog y, en esta ocasión, me hace especial ilusión esta entrada porque la protagonista no puede ser más ideal.

Se trata de la pequeña Wilder, un bebé precioso que vive con su familia en Utah y que, al igual que sus hermanos, tiene un estilo muy especial para llevar prendas de punto.

Viendo las fotos que publica su madre desde su cuenta de Instagram , no se me ocurre mejor inspiración para vestir a los más pequeños cuando hace frío: varias capas de punto y colores neutros a juego con la naturaleza.

¿Alguien más tiene ganas de tejer cosas para bebés sin parar?


Since the beginning, "Wool Lovers" has been one of my favorite sections of the blog and, in this occasion, I am specially thrilled with this post as the protagonist couldn't be any cuter.

I am talking about little  Wilder, a beautiful baby who lives with her family in Utah and who, as well as her siblings, has a very special style to wear knitted garments.

Looking at the pictures that her mother posts on her  Instagram account, I can't think of a better inspiration to dress little ones on cold days: several knit layers and neutral colours matching with nature.

Anyone else wants to knit things for babies without a break?

Wool Lovers ♥ 8 - Fraeulein Mimmi

Hace tiempo que no escribo en esta sección (la última vez fue una entrada dedicada los perros) pero me parece un buen momento para retomarla porque la primavera es una época perfecta para vestir prendas de punto.

En esta ocasión voy a hablaros de Fraeulein Mimmi ,  una mamá muy estilosa que vive en Berlín y que es una experta en combinar colores y prendas de punto de todo tipo.

Aparentemente viste con un estilo muy sencillo pero a mí me resulta muy inspirador y me encanta cuándo lleva turbantes de punto, le dan un aire muy interesante.

Como tejedora me parece el ejemplo perfecto para coger ideas sobre cómo dar un toque actual a las prendas de punto utilizando diseños sencillos y colores acordes a las tendencias de moda.

¿Qué os parece?

It's been a long time since I last wrote on this section (the last time it was a post about dogs) but I think that it is a good moment to get back to it as spring is a perfect season to wear wool garments.

This time I am going to talk about  Fraeulein Mimmi, a very stilish mom who lives in Berlin and who is an expert combining colours and wool garments of all kind.

Apparently her style is very simple but for me it is really inspiring and I love when she wears knitted turbans, they gave her a very interesting look.

As a knitter I think she is a perfect example to pick up ideas on how to refresh wool garments using simple designs and colours matching fashion trends.

Wool Lovers ♥ 7 - Happy Dogs

Seguro que alguna vez habéis oído que los perros no pasan frío pero es una idea que yo no comparto y creo que, al igual que nosotros, a veces necesitan abrigarse.

Hace unos años hice un abrigo de lana para mi perro Rocky siguiendo este patrón de DROPS Design y aunque no he vuelto a tejer nada para él me encantaría hacerle alguna prenda más así que he recopilado cinco ideas geniales para que nuestros pequeños amigos peludos vayan calentitos sin perder una pizca de elegancia.

Me encanta ver que no soy la única (loca) que adora a los perros vestidos con lana ♥

P.D: Entre las ideas que he seleccionado hay un poco de todo: patrones, kits DIY, productos terminados, un tutorial para reciclar jerséis... así que no tenéis excusa para no darle un capricho a vuestra mascota.

I am sure you have heard sometime that dogs don't feel cold but it is an idea I don't agree with and I think that, just as we do, they sometimes need to wrap themselves warm.

Some years ago I made a wool coat for my dog  Rocky following this pattern by  DROPS Design and although I haven't knitted anything else for him I would love to make him some more garments so I have gathered five cool ideas to keep our little furry friends warm without loosing not even a bit of elegance.

I love to see that I am not the only (crazy) one who loves dogs in wool clothes ♥

P.S: Among the ideas I have chosen there's a lit bit of everything:  patterns, DIY kits, finished products, a tutorial to recycle sweaters... so you have no excuse to not cocoon your pet.

Wool Lovers ♥ 6 - ZARA

Esta temporada otoño-invierno en ZARA han pensado en los amantes de la lana y han diseñado una colección de prendas de punto que son una maravilla.

Hay un poco de todo: chaquetas largas, jerséis amplios, detalles de ganchillo y granny-chic...

Para mí es una gran fuente de inspiración no sólo para saber qué es lo que se va a llevar sino también para coger ideas para tejer o hacer con ganchillo, así que... después de ver este avance de temporada ya no me da tanta pena que se termine el verano.

This autumn-winter season in ZARA they have thought in wool lovers and they have designed a wonderful collection of knitted garments.

There's a little bit of everything: long cardigans, big sweaters, crochet and granny-chic details... 

For me it is a great source of inspiration not only to know upcoming fashion trends but also to grab some ideas to knit or crochet, so... after seeing this season preview I don't feel so sorry about the end of summer anymore.

Wool Lovers ♥ 5 - Home Decor

En verano es el momento en el que toca guardar las prendas de punto, pero los amantes de la lana podemos seguir disfrutando de nuestra pasión buscando ideas para decorar la casa con lana.

Las opciones son muchas y variadas pero yo me quedo con las ideas sencillas que se integran a la perfección en cada habitación: alfombras de estilo nórdico, coloridos tapices de pared, fundas de tiestos...

Tampoco me parece mala idea dejar los ovillos a la vista en una estantería, esperando a que llegue el otoño...


Summer is the moment where we have to put away knitted garments, but we wool lovers can still enjoy our passion searching for ideas to decorate the house with wool.

The choices are many and varied but I prefer simple ideas that fit perfectly in each room: nordic style carpets, colourful wall weaves, pot covers...

I don't think either it is a bad idea to leave wool balls at sight on a shelf, waiting for Autumn to come...

Wool Lovers ♥ 4 - Sincerely Jules

La primavera es una época un poco complicada a la hora de vestirse, con muchos cambios de temperatura así que lo que mejor funciona es mezclar un poco de ropa de abrigo con prendas más ligeras.

Una experta en este arte de combinar y vestir por capas es Sincerely Jules que es una auténtica Wool Lover y siempre encuentra la prenda de punto perfecta para cada ocasión.

Como yo vivo en el norte de Burgos sé muy bien lo que es pasar del frío al calor (y viceversa) varias veces al día así que siempre me viene bien coger ideas para que los cambios de temperatura no me pillen desprevenida.

Springtime is quite a complicated season when it comes to getting dressed, with many temperature changes so what works best is to mix some warm clothes with lighter garments.

One expert in this art of mixing and layering is  Sincerely Jules who is a true  Wool Lover and always finds the right knit garment for each occasion.

As I live in the North of Burgos (Spain) I know quite well what it is like to come from cold to warm weather (and vice versa) several times the same day so it is always good for me to pick some ideas in order to not be unprepared for temperature changes.

Wool Lovers ♥ 3 - A Gipsy in the Kitchen

"A Gipsy in the Kitchen" es Alice Agnelli  y yo la descubrí gracias a mi amiga Giulia y ahora ya no sé que haría sin su blog de comida y lifestyle donde cada día muestra pedacitos de su vida y su pasión por la cocina, su perrita Brie, la moda, los viajes...

De su estilo me enamora la facilidad con la que combina las prendas de punto, tanto que me dan ganas de ser un poco "gipsy" yo también y hacer maravillosas combinaciones con prendas de lana de todo tipo.

Espero que os guste (e inspire) tanto como a mí.

"A Gipsy in the Kitchen" is  Alice Agnelli and I discovered her thanks to my friend Giulia and now I don't know what I would do whithout her food and lifestyle blog where everyday she shows little pieces or her life and her passion for cooking, her dog Brie, fashion, travelling...

From her style I love how easily she combines knit garments, so much that I feel the need to be a little bit "gipsy" too and to make wonderful matches with all kinds of wool garments.

Wool Lovers ♥ 2 - The Sartorialist

Donde yo vivo hace mucho frío en esta época del año (la semana pasada, por ejemplo, estuvimos todos los días bajo cero y sin ver el sol por la niebla) así que me gusta mucho ver fotos de street style y coger ideas para salir de la típica combinación de jersey gordo y plumas sin morir congelada.

Una de mis fuentes de inspiración favoritas es The Sartorialist (me encanta ver cómo se viste la gente en Nueva York cuando nieva y hace un  frío que pela pero siguen súper estilosos) así que he hecho una selección de fotos en las que las prendas de punto son el complemento perfecto para combatir las bajas temperaturas sin perder un ápice de clase.

Espero que os gusten tanto como a mí.

P.D: El primer Wool Lovers


In the place where I live it is very cold in this season of the year (last week, for instance, we had minus zero all the days and we couldn't see the sun because it was very foggy) so I like to see street style pictures a lot and pick up some ideas to avoid the typical combination of bulky sweater and a duvet and not being frozen to death.

One of my favorite sources of inspiration is  The Sartorialist (I love to see how people dress in New York when it is snowing and freezing cold but they are still super stylish) so I have made a selection of pictures where wool garments are the perfect accesory to fight low temperatures without losing a slightest trace of elegance.

I hope you will like them as much as I do.
