The Balloon Jacket

 

Antes de que empiece el verano quiero enseñaros el último proyecto que he tejido con lana, la chaqueta "The Balloon Jacket" de PetiteKnit que escogí como proyecto de primavera en el desafío "Make Nine Challenge" de este año.

Ya os había adelantado una foto en mi cuenta de Instagram  pero hasta ahora no había podido hacer fotos en las que se viera bien la chaqueta, aunque luego también ha sido un poco complicado conseguir que se vean bien todos los detalles...

La particularidad de este proyecto es que para hacerlo he usado unos ovillos de DROPS "Big Merino"  con los que hace tiempo había tejido otra chaqueta que no salió bien así que estoy contenta porque he conseguido hacer un poco de limpieza en mi "stash".

Como en el caso de otros proyectos de PetiteKnit  que he hecho, ha sido muy entretenido de tejer y mi idea es hacer otra chaqueta Balloon  con un hilo de lana más calentito para el invierno porque es un estilo de chaqueta que me gusta mucho.

Before summer starts I want to show you the last project I have knitted with wool, "The Balloon Jacket" by  PetiteKnit which I chose as spring project in the "Make Nine Challenge" this year.

I have already advanced a picture on my  Instagram account but until now I hadn't been able to take pictures that show the jacket properly, although afterwards it has also been a bit complicated to succeed in showing well all the details...

The peculiarity of this project is that to make it I have used some  DROPS "Big Merino" skeins which I used to knit  a jacket that didn't come well some time ago so I am happy because I have cleared a little bit my stash.

As in the case of other  PetiteKnit projects I have knitted, it has been very entertaining to knit and my idea is to make another  Balloon jacket with a warmer wool yarn for winter because it is a kind of cardigan that I like a lot.

Bolsa de red tulipán / Tulip filet crochet bag

Hace unas semanas publiqué una bolsita de red decorada con un tulipán en mi cuenta de Instagram  y prometí compartir el patrón así que, cumpliendo mi palabra, hoy os explico cómo hacerla.

Lo más importante de este DIY es conocer la técnica "filet crochet"  que ya utilicé en este "IKEA Hack"  hace unos años y que es tan sencilla como saber hacer cadenetas y puntos altos de ganchillo.

A couple of  weeks ago I posted a filet crochet sachet with a tulip on my  Instagram account and I promised to share the pattern so, keeping my word, today I will tell you how to make it.

The most important thing about this DIY is knowing "filet crochet" technique which I already used in this  "IKEA Hack" some years ago and it is as simple as knowing how to make crochet chains and double crochet stitches.

INSTRUCCIONES

Hilo: Hilo de algodón nº 3 (yo he utilizado DROPS Loves You 9  en color coral)

Aguja: Aguja de ganchillo nº 3 (1.75 mm)

Punto utilizado: Filet crochet (podéis ver un tutorial en español aquí y otro en inglés aquí).

Pasos:

• Montar 48 puntos de cadeneta y unir los puntos para seguir trabajando en circular.
• Seguir el diagrama que se indica a continuación utilizando la técnica de filet crochet, dibujando el tulipán en los diez puntos centrales.
• Una vez terminado el diagrama, hacer un punto bajo en cada punto y cerrar pasando el hilo por el último punto (48 puntos)
• Coser la parte de abajo de la bolsa
• Para la cuerda del cierre: montar una cadeneta que mida aproximadamente 45 cm (o la largura que prefieras) y hacer un punto enano en cada cadeneta

INSTRUCTIONS

Yarn: Cotton yarn nº 3 (I have used  DROPS Loves You 9 in coral colour)

Needle: Nº 3 crochet hook (1.75 mm)

Sitch used: Filet crochet (you can find a tutorial in English here and another one in Spanish here)

Steps:

• Cast on 48 chain stitches and join the stitches to start working in the round
• Follow the chart above using filet crochet technique, drawing the tulip on the ten stitches in the middle
• Once you have finished the chart, make one single crochet on every stitch and close by pulling the yarn through the last stitch (48 stitches)
• Sew the bottom of the bag
• For the closing rope: cast on a chain measuring aproximately 45 cm (or the length you prefer) and make one slip stitth on each chain stitch

           

Posavasos de fieltro estilo "vintage" / Vintage style felted coasters

 

Después de mis posavasos de fieltro en forma de nube  he seguido experimentando con la técnica del fieltrado y esta vez he hecho unos posavasos con flores de inspiración "vintage".

La idea la cogí del libro "Mollie Makes Crochet" y es un patrón de Ilaria Chiaratti  de Ida Interior Lifestyle  originalmente pensado para una funda de un cojín pero que a mi me pareció perfecto para hacer unos posavasos.

Antes de decidirme por este diseño tenía pensado hacer algo completamente distinto pero creo que la combinación de colores en tonos mostaza queda muy bien con el motivo "sunburst" y le da ese toque de estilo retro que tanto me gusta.

Hasta ahora no me había dado cuenta de todas las posibilidades que ofrece el fieltrado y, aunque podría seguir añadiendo diseños de posavasos hasta el infinito, de momento este va a ser mi último proyecto y me reservo todas las ideas que se me han ido ocurriendo para después del verano.

¿Conseguiré resistir a la tentación de fieltrar más cosas?

After my cloud shaped felt coasters I have continued experimenting with the felting technique and this time I have made some vintage inspired flower coasters.

I took the idea from "Mollie Makes Crochet" book and it is a pattern by Ilaria Chiaratti from Ida Interior Lifestyle originally thought for a cushion cover but it appeared to me that it would be perfect to make some coasters.

Before choosing this design I had thought of making something completely different but I find that the combination of colours in mustard shades matches very well with "sunburst" motif and it adds that retro style touch which I really like.

Until the moment I hadn't realised all the possibilites that felting offers and, although I could keep adding coasters designs to infinity, at the moment this is going to be my last project and I will preserve all the ideas I've been thinking of to make them after this summer.

Will I resist the temptation of felting more things?

Delphinus

 

Después de casi dos meses he terminado el jersey "Delphinus"  de Aurélie Texier  publicado en el número 34 de Pom Pom Quarterly.

Tal y como me imaginaba justo antes de empezar a tejerlo, al ser un patrón diseñado para un hilo fino me ha llevado bastante tiempo hacerlo.

En mi caso he utilizado una mezcla de la ya desaparecida DROPS Lace  que tenía en mi "stash" junto con unos ovillos DROPS Brushed Alpaca Silk que compré especialmente para tejer el jersey y no puedo estar más contenta con el resultado.

Realmente ha habido momentos en los que pensaba que no iba a acabar nunca pero creo que el esfuerzo ha merecido la pena y, aunque probablemente tendré que esperar hasta el otoño que viene para ponérmelo, estoy segura de que se va a convertir en uno de mis jerséis favoritos.

After almost two months I have finished the "Delphinus" pullover by  Aurélie Texier published in issue number 34 of  Pom Pom Quarterly.

Just as I imagined right before start knitting it, as it is a pattern designed for a thin yarn it has taken me quite a  while to make it.

In my case I have used a mix of the already extinguished  DROPS Lace I had in my stash together with some DROPS Brushed Alpaca Silk I bought specially to knit the pullover and I can't be happier with the result.

Honestly there were some moments when I thought I was never going to finish but I think the effort was worth it and, although I will probably have to wait until next autumn to wear it, I am sure it is going to become one of my favorite sweaters.

Tal y como había previsto, el jersey "Delphinus"  me ha tenido ocupada desde finales de febrero y, a falta de unos toques finales y el correspondiente bloqueo, lo tengo casi terminado por lo que estoy a punto de empezar mi siguiente proyecto del desafío "Make Nine Challenge".

Coincidiendo con la actual época del año, es el turno de "The Balloon Jacket"  de PetiteKnit y para hacerla tengo que "reciclar" el hilo "Big Merino"  de DROPS Design  que utilicé para tejer este proyecto que no quedó como esperaba y lleva varios años guardado en un armario.

Así que en los próximos días me toca deshacer y ovillar para poder empezar a tejer otra vez...

Just I had expected, I've been busy with the  "Delphinus" pullover since the end of February and, lacking some final touches and the corresponding blocking, I have almost finished it and I am about to start the next project of the "Make Nine Challenge".

Considering the current season, it is the turn of  "The Balloon Jacket" by  PetiteKnit and to make it I have to "recycle" the  DROPS Design "Big Merino" yarn I used to knit this project that didn't result as I expected and has been kept away in a closet for several years.

So during the following days I will have to unravel and wind so I can start knitting again...

Posavasos de fieltro en forma de nube / Cloud shaped felt coasters

 

Después de haber tenido una experiencia más que positiva con el fieltrado con este salvamenteles de cuadros Vichy, he vuelto a repetir la técnica pero esta vez para hacer unos posavasos de lana con forma de nube.

La idea era hacer algo un poco diferente y, después de pensar varias opciones, encontré este patrón para hacer nubes de ganchillo que me pareció perfecto para lo que estaba buscando.

Así que, escogí los colores para mis nubes entre varios ovillos de DROPS Eskimo  que tenía en mi "stash"  y, después de terminar de darles forma con el ganchillo, seguí la técnica de fieltrado en lavadora propuesta para este tipo de lana.

El resultado, un nuevo juego de posavasos que se incorpora a mi colección porque, aunque pueda parecer lo contrario, nunca se suficientes posavasos.

¿Os animáis a hacerlos?

After having a more than positive experience with felting with this Gingham potholder, I have repeated the technique but this time to make some cloud shaped wool coasters.

The idea was to make something a little bit different and, after thinking several options, I found this pattern to make crochet clouds which I found perfect for what I was looking for.

So, I chose the colours for my clouds among several  DROPS Eskimo skeins I had in my "stash" and, after finisishing crocheting them, I followed the washing machine felting technique suggested for this type of wool.

The result, a new set of coasters that joins my collection as, even if it may seem the opposite, you can never have enough coasters.

Conjunto de bebé en lana / Wool baby outfit

A principios de mes ha sido el primer cumpleaños de mi sobrino Julen así que he aprovechado para tejerle un conjunto de bebé en lana, y es que viviendo en el norte todavía nos quedan días de frío incluso en primavera.

La elección sobre qué hacer no ha sido muy difícil ya que hace tiempo que tenía ganas de repetir el jersey con botones en el pecho (es uno de mis patrones favoritos para bebé desde que lo tejí por primera vez en 2016), pero esta vez en lugar de utilizar lana merino he escogido unos ovillos de  DROPS Nepal  en color crudo porque es una lana suave y muy calentita y, por lo tanto, más adecuada para esta época del año.

Como complemento he añadido un cuello de lana tejido con DROPS Andes  siguiendo el patrón "Snoody"  de Mlle. Sophie  que es muy sencillo pero también muy práctico y cómodo de llevar, sobre todo para los más pequeños.

La verdad es que no me canso de tejer cosas para bebé, incluso repitiendo ideas que ya he hecho en otras ocasiones disfruto mucho porque me encanta construir conjuntos con distintas piezas y elegir colores e hilos diferentes cada vez.

¿No me digáis que este conjunto no es una monada?

At the beginning of the month it was the first birthday of my nephew Julen so I took the opportunity to knit him a wool baby outfit, since living in the North of Spain there are still some cold days left even in spring.

The choice of what to make was not very difficult as I've been wanting to repat the sweater with buttons in the front for a while (it is one of my favorite patterns since I knitted it for the first time in 2016), but this time instead of using merino wool I have chosen some  DROPS Nepal skeins in ecru because it is a soft and very warm wool and, therefore, more appropriate for this season of the year.

As a complement, I have added a wool cowl knitted with  DROPS Andes following the  "Snoody" pattern by  Mlle. Sophie which is very simple but also very practical and easy to wear, specially for the little ones.

The truth is I never get tired of knitting things for babies, even repeating ideas I have previously made I enjoy it a lot because I love creating outfits with different pieces and choosing different colours and yarns each time.

Don't tell me this outfit is not a total cuteness?

Como no todo va a ser tejer el jersey "Delphinus", tengo en mente un proyecto sencillito y rápido de hacer que es un poco experimento pero que creo que puede quedar bien.

En realidad tengo varias ideas para hacer con ovillos DROPS Eskimo (que ahora se llama DROPS Snow)   porque después de hacer los salvamanteles Vichy  me quedé con ganas de practicar más el fieltrado y explorar otras posibilidades.

Si todo va según lo planificado dentro de muy poco podré enseñaros el resultado, espero que mi idea sea un éxito.

As not everything is about knitting the  "Delphinus" pullover, I have a very easy and quick to make project in my mind that it's kind of a experiment but that I think that might come out well.

Actually I have several ideas to make with  DROPS Eskimo skeins (which are now named DROPS Snow) because after making the  Gingham potholder  I wanted to practice felting more deeply and to explore other possibilities.

If everything goes as planned very soon I will be able to show you the result, I hope that my idea is a success.

Beret No. 1

Después de tejer mi primera boina de estilo francés, no he podido resistirme a repetir el patrón de My Favorite Things Knitwear  para añadir otra boina más a mis accesorios de invierno.

Esta vez he escogido el color rojo porque me parece que representa perfectamente el estilo parisino y es todo un clásico.

El acabado es un poco más gordito que el de la boina lila porque he utilizado alpaca peinada en lugar de mohair y me parece una opción muy buena para conseguir una boina más abrigada y con más cuerpo.

Estoy tan enganchada a este patrón y a las boinas que las tejería en todos los colores pero, de momento, voy a centrarme en otros proyectos e intentar resistirme hasta después del verano.

¿Alguien más es fan de las boinas?

After knitting  my first French style beret, I couldn't resist repeating the pattern by  My Favorite Things Knitwear to add another beret to my winter accesories.

This time I chose red colour because I think it represents perfectly the Parisian style and it is such a classic.

The finishing is a little bit thicker than the one of the lilac beret because I have used brushed alpaca instead of mohair and I think it is a very good choice to get a warmer and more solid beret.

I am so hooked on this pattern and berets that I would knit them in every colour but, at the moment, I am going to focus in other projects and try to resist until the end of summer.

Anyone else is a fan of berets?

Tengo una especie de tradición y es que me gusta empezar proyectos nuevos los domingos y la semana pasada ha sido el turno del jersey "Delphinus"  de Aurélie Tixier, uno de mis patrones favoritos del último número de otoño de "Pom Pom Quarterly".

Desde que recibí la revista en octubre he querido empezar a tejerlo pero necesitaba encontrar el momento adecuado, ya que soy consciente de que es un proyecto que me va a llevar bastante tiempo terminar.

También tengo claro que voy a acabar compaginándolo con otros proyectos más sencillos y rápidos de hacer, pero me gusta la idea de tener un proyecto que me acompañe durante un periodo más largo de tiempo.

Espero llevarme bien con él porque vamos a pasar mucho tiempo juntos...

I have a sort of tradition and it is that I like to start new projects on Sundays and last week it was the turn of  "Delphinus" sweater by  Aurélie Tixier, one of my favorite patterns from the latest  "Pom Pom Quarterly" autumn issue.

Since I received the magazine in October I've wanted to start knitting it but I needed to find the proper moment, as I am aware that it is a project that will take me quite a while to finish.

It is also clear to me that I would end up combining it with other projects more simple and quick to make, but I like the idea of having a project that will accompany me during a longer period of time.

I hope that we will get along well as we are going to spend a lot of time together...

Vicky's Vest

 

No es ninguna novedad que los chalecos de punto se han convertido en la gran revelación de este invierno así que, lógicamente, en mi lista de proyectos para el desafío "Make Nine Challenge"  de este año no podía falta un patrón de un chaleco de lana.

Inicialmente tenía varias ideas en mente pero al final me decidí por el modelo "Vicky's Vest"  de Vicky Knits  porque me gusta mucho su corte (ajustado y cortito) y, algo que nunca pensé que diría, me encanta el cuello en forma de pico.

En el patrón propone usar una lana muy gordita y yo quise experimentar un poco utilizando lana Drops Air  tejida en doble hebra porque me encanta su textura suave y ligera.

El resultado es justo como me esperaba, un chaleco súper calentito y muy agradable de llevar (sin olvidar que el color menta que he escogido para tejerlo ha sido todo un acierto).

Al final me ha pasado como con la boina de estilo francés, es algo que pensé que nunca tejería y ahora no dejo de pensar en repetir modelo en otro color.

¿Alguien más se ha apuntado a la tendencia de los chalecos de punto?

Theres's nothing new about the fact that knit vests have become the great surprise this winter so, logically, in my list for this year of the  "Make Nine Challenge" I couldn't miss a wool vest pattern.

Initially I had several ideas on my mind but in the end I decided to choose  "Vicky's Vest" desigh by  Vicky Knits because I really like its cut (tight and quite short) and, something I never thought I would say, I love the V-neck form.

The pattern suggests using chunky wool and I wanted to experiment a little bit using  Drops Air yarn in double stranded knitting because I love its soft and light texture.

The result is just as I expected, a super warm and very nice to wear sweater (not forgetting that the mint colour I chose to knit was such a win).

In the end I have experience the same as with the French style beret, it is something I never thought I would knit and now I can't stop thinking of repeating the pattern in another colour.

Anyone else has joined the knitted vests trend?

Cuando hice mi selección para el desafío "Make Nine Challenge"  de este año uno de los proyectos que más ilusión me hacía era la boina de estilo francés "Beret No. 1"  de My Favorite Things Knitwear y, lógicamente, ha sido el primer proyecto en caer en mis agujas.

Todo empezó la primavera pasada cuando sin saber muy bien por qué me di cuenta de que me encantaban las boinas y necesitaba una a toda costa. Así que, antes de comprarme una, decidí que iba a intentar tejer una a mi gusto y encontrar este patrón fue toda una suerte.

En realidad el proceso ha sido una mezcla de curiosidad e incertidumbre porque una cosa es tejer un patrón correctamente y otra muy distinta que quede bien al llevarlo pero, por suerte, en este caso el resultado ha sido perfecto.

Ahora sólo tengo que practicar el arte de llevar una boina con estilo, ¿algún consejo?

When I made my selection for this year's  "Make Nine Challenge" one of the projects I was more excited to make was the french style  "Beret No. 1" by  My Favorite Things Knitwear and, as a result, it was the first project to fall on my needles.

Everything started last spring when without any obvious reason I realised that I loved berets and that I needed one no matter what. So, before buying one, I decided that I was going to custom knit one for me and finding this pattern was such a fortune.

Actually the process has been a mixture of curiosity and uncertainty because one thing is knitting a pattern correctly and another completely different is that it looks well to wear but, luckily, in this case the result is perfect.

Now I only have to practice the art of wearing a beret with style, any tips?

Beatnik Sweater

Uno de mis objetivos principales de este año ha sido terminar algunos proyectos que tenía abandonados y, después de la mantita de "granny squares", le ha tocado el turno al "Beatnik Sweater"  de Nora Gaughan.

Todo empezó en 2014 con un KAL  organizado por Tricotoseando y, aunque el principio estaba muy entusiasmada con el proyecto, tengo que reconocer que se me "atragantaron" un poco las trenzas y el jersey acabó olvidado en mi cesta de labores cuando ya casi estaba terminado.

Me daba mucho pereza retomarlo pero, para mi sorpresa, esta vez he disfrutado mucho tejiendo las tan temidas trenzas y casi ni me he enterado cuando ha llegado el turno de hacer las mangas.

Lo mejor de todo es que es un jersey precioso y, aunque tenía miedo de no haber acertado con la talla, al final me queda perfecto así que estoy muy feliz de haber terminado mi "Beatnik Sweater"  después de tanto tiempo.

One of my main goals this year has been to finish some projects I had quitted and, after the granny squares mini blanket, it was the turn of the  "Beatnik Sweater" by  Nora Gaughan.

Everything started in 2014 with a KAL organised by  Tricotoseando and, although at first I was very excited with the project, I have to admit that I really "struggled" with the cables and the sweater ended left behind in my crafts basket when it was almost finished.

I was too lazy to start with it again but, to my surprise, this time I have enjoyed knitting the so feared cables and I didn't almost notice when it was the turn to make the sleeves.

The best part is that it is a beautiful sweater and, although I was a little bit scared of having chosen the wrong size, in the end it fits me perfectly so I am very happy for having finished my  "Beatnik Sweater" after so many time.
