Happy (Crafting) Weekend

Al final de verano decidí suscribirme de nuevo a  la revista Pom Pom Quarterly  porque echaba mucho de menos recibir sus publicaciones en mi buzón.

El motivo principal porque el que me di de baja hace dos años es porque no tengo tiempo para hacer tantos proyectos pero, aunque sigo sin tener tiempo, en realidad es más que una revista de patrones y leer sus artículos es siempre fuente de inspiración.

De momento (y hasta que termine algunas cosas que tengo en proceso) me limitaré a ponerme al día con sus lecturas interesantes y a seleccionar mis diseños favoritos para futuros proyectos.

At the end of summer I decided to subscribe me again to  Pom Pom Quarterly magazine because I missed a lot receiving their issues in my mailbox.

The main reason why I unsubscribed two years ago was that I don't have time to make so many projects but, althouhg I still have no time, actually it is more than a pattern magazine and reading their articles is always a source of inspiration.

At the moment (and until I finish some things I have in progress) I will restrict myself to being up to date with their interesting readings and to choose my favorite designs for future projects.

El primer fin de semana de 2020 coincide con la llegada de los Reyes Magos que es una de mis celebraciones favoritas.

Para mí es tradición empezar el día desayunando roscón y luego dedicar buena parte de la mañana a tejer, seguro que no os sorprende...

The first weekend of 2020 coincides with the arrival of the Three Wise Men which is one of my favorite celebrations.

For me it's a tradition to start the day eating the traditional cake and afterwards to spend quite a big part of the morning kntting, I am sure it doesn't surprise anyone...

Cuando hago la planificación de los proyectos que me gustaría hacer siempre hay alguno que me hace especial ilusión y ahora mismo estoy deseando empezar a tejer unos ovillos de DROPS Brushed Alpaca Silk  que compré hace unos meses.

Todavía tengo que terminar algunas cosas antes pero ya presiento que va a ser mi proyecto favorito del año que viene...

When I plan the projects I would like to make there is always one I am especially excited about and right now I am willing to start knitting some  DROPS Brushed Alpaca Silk skeins I bought a couple of months ago.

I still have to finish some things before but I can feel it is going to be my favorite project from next year...

Ya sabéis que lo que más me gusta de Halloween  son las calabazas y la decoración otoñal, así que aprovecho esta foto de una pastelería que hice durante mi viaje a Ginebra para celebrar que este fin de semana es un poquito más largo.

Con la llegada del otoño he vuelto a uno de mis patrones para bebé favoritos aunque en esta ocasión he decidido utilizar por primera vez la lana DROPS Big Merino  que es un poco más gordita que la que he usado otras veces.

Casi puedo imaginarme el resultado sólo con ver lo suave que es en el ovillo...

With the arrival of autumn I am back to one of my favorite patterns for babies although in this occasion I have decided to use for the first time  DROPS Big Merino wool which is a little bit chunkier than the one I have used some other times.

I can almost imagine the result just by seeing how soft it is on the skein...

Mi proyecto principal de este verano es un patrón de la edición de primavera de Pom Pom Quarterly  y, con un poco de suerte, dentro de poco estará terminado.

Desde que me decidí a hacerlo ha pasado mucho tiempo pero me gusta la idea de poder dedicarle unas horas cada día y ver cómo poco a poco va tomando forma.

My main project this summer is a pattern from  Pom Pom Quarterly spring issue and, luckily, it will be finished soon.

It's been a while since I decided to make it but I like the idea of being able to spend a couple of hours on it each day and see how little by little it keeps taking shape.

Contra todo pronóstico una de las últimas incorporaciones a mi stash  han sido unos ovillos de DROPS Air  mezcla de lana y alpaca porque desde que terminó el invierno llevo pensando en el que va a ser mi primer proyecto para cuando vuelva el frío.

Todavía quedan algunos meses por delante pero no os podéis imaginar las ganas que tengo de empezar a tejerlo...

Against all odds one of the latest additions to my stash are some  DROPS Air skeins mixture of wool and alpaca as since winter ended I've been thinking about my first project for the moment when cold weather is back.

There are still a couple of months ahead but you can't imagine how much I am looking forward to start knitting it...

Algunas veces me vuelvo loca buscando el proyecto perfecto para mis ovillos pero también hay ocasiones en las que, sin esperarlo, descubro una idea que me encaja de maravilla. 

Exactamente eso es lo que me ha pasado con los ovillos de "Silkhair Lusso"  de Lanagrossa  que compré el verano pasado en "La Lainerie"  en Burdeos que pensaba combinar con otros colores para hacer un chal pero... ahora he encontrado otro proyecto que me gusta mucho más.

Todavía no os voy a contar de que se trata pero sólo os puedo decir que una vez más la "culpa" la tiene Instagram ...

Some times I go a little bit crazy looking for the perfect project for my skeins but there are also occasions where, unexpectedly, I find an idea that matches wonderfully.

Exactly that is what has happened with the skeins from  "Silkhair Lusso" by  Lanagrossa that I bought last summer at  "La Lainerie" in Bordeaux which I wanted to combine with other colours to make a shawl but... now I have found a project that I like much more.

I won't tell you yet what it is but all I can say is that once more it is  Instagram's "fault"...

Las próximas semanas voy a tener tiempo para tejer para mí así que además de seguir con mi jersey Garland  ya le he buscado proyecto a los ovillos que compré en Knit Knit Berlin.

He escogido un patrón del libro de accesorios de Mlle. Sophie  y, aparte de que me encanta todo lo que hace, su famosísimo Trendy Chale fue uno de los primeros proyectos que tejí allá por 2012 así que me hace ilusión porque me recuerda a mis comienzos con el blog y con las agujas.

Todavía no he empezado a tejer y ya estoy deseando tenerlo terminado...

During the following weeks I will have time to knit for myself so in addition to continuing with my  Garland sweater I have found a project for the yarn I bought in  Knit Knit Berlin.

I have chosen a pattern from  Mlle. Sophie's accesories book and, besides I love everything she makes, her famous  Trendy Chale was one of the first projects I knitted back in 2012 so it makes me happy because it reminds me of my beginning with the blog and the needles.

I haven't started knitting yet and I am already looking forward to finishing it...

Desde que empezó el mes de diciembre cuando preparé mi calendario de adviento no he dejado de pensar en la Navidad  y, aunque parecía algo lejano, ya ha llegado el momento de celebrarlo.

Since the beginning of the month of December when I prepared my advent calendar I haven't stopped thinking about Christmas and, although it seemed something distant, the moment to celebrate has already arrived.

Me cuesta resistirme a empezar ideas nuevas así que además del jersey Garland  ahora mismo tengo otros dos proyectos en curso que voy haciendo poco a poco.

Normalmente me gusta tejer varias cosas a la vez porque así no se me hace aburrido hacer todo el rato lo mismo y siempre da satisfacción ir terminando los proyectos que son más rápidos de hacer.

I find quite difficult to resist myself to starting new ideas so in adittion to  Garland sweater right now I have two more ongoing projects that I am making little by little.

Usually I like to knit several things at the same time because this way I don't get bored of doing the same thing all the time and it is always a satisfaction to finish the projects that are quicker to make.

Todavía no he terminado ninguno de los proyectos que he empezado este otoño pero en mi cabeza no dejo de pensar en nuevas ideas en las que utilizar algunos de los ovillos que tengo en mi stash  desde hace tiempo.

A veces me resulta complicado porque quiero hacer algo especial con ellos así que estoy continuamente buscando el proyecto perfecto.

Estos ovillos amarillos se vinieron conmigo de Barcelona hace ya dos años y, aunque desde el principio tuve claro que quería hacer un chal con ellos, todavía no me he decidido por ningún patrón en concreto.

Seguiré buscando hasta que me llegue la inspiración...

I still haven't finished any of the projects I've started this autumn but in my mind I can't stop thinking of new ideas so I can use some of the skeins I have in my stash long ago.

Sometimes I find it difficult as I want to make something special with them so I am continuously looking for the perfect project.

These yellow balls came with me from Barcelona already two years ago and, even if since the beginning I was sure I wanted to make a shawl with them, I haven't decided on any specific pattern yet.

I will continue searching until I get inspired...

Todavía es pronto para sacar las lanas gorditas pero no para empezar a planificar proyectos para los próximos meses de otoño e invierno.

Como siempre arrastro labores que no he terminado pero también tengo ideas nuevas que estoy deseando hacer así que tengo tarea de sobra para cuando llegue el frío de verdad.

En realidad sé que mi planificación irá cambiando sobre la marcha porque me resulta casi imposible resistirme cuando veo un patrón bonito pero bueno... el efecto sorpresa también tiene su encanto.

P.D: Lo que tejí el invierno pasado

It is still soon to take out chunky wool but not to start planning projects for the following autumn and winter months.

As usual I bring some knits that I haven't finished but I also have new ideas that I am eager to make so I have enough work to do when real cold weather arrives.

Actually I know that my planning will be changing along the way because it is almost impossible for me to resist when I see a beautiful pattern but well... the effect of surprise has its own charm too.

Antes de que llegue el frío y sólo quiera tejer prendas de lana, sigo con mis proyectos de trapillo aunque esta vez estoy pensando en algo pequeñito y rápido de terminar.

Hasta ahora sólo lo he utilizado para hacer cosas de ganchillo pero me apetece cambiar y tejer con dos agujas porque el trapillo también queda muy bonito tejido en punto bobo.

Before cold weather arrives and I would only want to knit wool garments, I continue with my zpagetti projects although this time I am thinking of something little and quick to finish.

Until the moment I have only used it for crocheting but I would like to change and use knitting needles as zpagetti also looks very nice in garter stitch.

Se termina agosto y aunque oficialmente todavía quedan algunas semanas de verano resulta inevitable pensar que se acerca el cambio de estación.

No os voy a engañar, aunque el verano me encanta, el otoño es mi estación favorita porque siempre la asocio con la vuelta a la rutina y el comienzo de nuevos proyectos e ideas.

Pero bueno, como ya he dicho todavía queda tiempo para despedir al verano así que seguiremos disfrutando de los días de sol y, en mi caso, terminando las labores pendientes.

August is finished and although officially there are still some summer weeks left it seems inevitable to think that the change of season is close.

I won't fool you, even if I love summer, autumn is my favorite season because I always associate it to coming back to the routine and the beginning of new projects and ideas.

Anyway, as I have already said there's still time to say goodbye to summer so we will continue enjoying summer days and, in my case, finishing pending crafts.

Llega el fin de semana y empiezo un proyecto nuevo, un perro de ganchillo del precioso libro "Edward's Menagerie Dogs" de Kerry Lord  que os enseñé en primavera por Instagram.

El primer modelo que voy a hacer es "Rosie the Dachshund" una raza que yo siempre he conocido como "Teckel"  así que ahora gracias al libro he aprendido que a este tipo de perros se les puede llamar de las dos maneras.

En el libro hay un montón de razas diferentes (incluso algunas de las que nunca había oído hablar antes) a cada cual más mona, así que seguramente no será el único perro que haga.

The weekend is here and I am starting a new project, a crochet dog from "Edward's Menagerie Dogs" beautiful book by  Kerry Lord  which I showed you in spring through  Instagram.

The first design I am making is  "Rosie the Dachshund" a breed I have always known as "Teckel" so now thanks to the book I have learned that this kind of dogs can be called in both ways.

In the book there are a lot of different breeds (even some I have never heard before) one cuter than the other, so for sure this won't be the only dog I make.

Lo prometido es deuda y, aprovechando que el fin de semana es perfecto para hablar de labores, os enseño con más detalle los ovillos que compré en La Lainerie  en Burdeos.

La verdad es que me costó un poco decidirme pero al final opté por algo diferente a lo que ya tengo en mi interminable "stash " : unos ovillos de lana bien gordita "Phil Express"  de Phildar ; mohair "Silkhair Lusso"  de Lana Grossa  con un toque de brillo muy chulo; y, siguiendo con el brilli-brilli, unos ovillos de algodón "Twinkle"  de Scheepjes  en tonos rosas y otro verde de "Sparkle" by Claire.

Aunque tengo alguna idea todavía no tengo muy claro qué voy a hacer con ellos pero en cualquier caso no creo que los utilice antes de otoño así que estoy segura de que para entonces encontraré el proyecto perfecto para cada ovillo.

A promise is a promise and, as the weekend is perfect to talk about crafts, I am showing you in detail the skeins I bought in  La Lainerie in Bordeaux.

Honestly it took me a while to decide but at last I opted for something different to what I already have in my neverending stash: some skeins of really chunky wool  "Phil Express"  by  Phildar; "Silkhair Lusso"  by  Lana Grossa mohair with a very cool touch of sparkle; and, continuing with this glittery thing, some "Twinkle" by  Scheepjes cotton skeins in pink tones and another one  "Sparkle" by Claire in green.

Although I have some ideas I still don't know very clearly what I am going to do with them but anyway I don't think I will use them until autumn so I am sure I will find the perfect project for each skein by then.

Con el buen tiempo recién estrenado sigo con mi costumbre de dedicar parte del fin de semana a mis labores, aunque ahora toque cambiar la lana por el algodón y estar más tiempo al aire libre.

En mi cabeza ya tengo un  montón de ideas que me gustaría hacer este verano pero me he prometido que primero tengo que terminar (algunos) de los proyectos ya empezados...

With warm weather just begun I continue my habit of spending part of the weekend crafting, although it is time to swap wool for cotton yarn and to stay more time outdoors.

In my head I already have a lot of ideas that I would like to make this summer but I have promised myself that first I have to finish (some) of the projects already started...
