Delphinus

 

Después de casi dos meses he terminado el jersey "Delphinus"  de Aurélie Texier  publicado en el número 34 de Pom Pom Quarterly.

Tal y como me imaginaba justo antes de empezar a tejerlo, al ser un patrón diseñado para un hilo fino me ha llevado bastante tiempo hacerlo.

En mi caso he utilizado una mezcla de la ya desaparecida DROPS Lace  que tenía en mi "stash" junto con unos ovillos DROPS Brushed Alpaca Silk que compré especialmente para tejer el jersey y no puedo estar más contenta con el resultado.

Realmente ha habido momentos en los que pensaba que no iba a acabar nunca pero creo que el esfuerzo ha merecido la pena y, aunque probablemente tendré que esperar hasta el otoño que viene para ponérmelo, estoy segura de que se va a convertir en uno de mis jerséis favoritos.

After almost two months I have finished the "Delphinus" pullover by  Aurélie Texier published in issue number 34 of  Pom Pom Quarterly.

Just as I imagined right before start knitting it, as it is a pattern designed for a thin yarn it has taken me quite a  while to make it.

In my case I have used a mix of the already extinguished  DROPS Lace I had in my stash together with some DROPS Brushed Alpaca Silk I bought specially to knit the pullover and I can't be happier with the result.

Honestly there were some moments when I thought I was never going to finish but I think the effort was worth it and, although I will probably have to wait until next autumn to wear it, I am sure it is going to become one of my favorite sweaters.

Tal y como había previsto, el jersey "Delphinus"  me ha tenido ocupada desde finales de febrero y, a falta de unos toques finales y el correspondiente bloqueo, lo tengo casi terminado por lo que estoy a punto de empezar mi siguiente proyecto del desafío "Make Nine Challenge".

Coincidiendo con la actual época del año, es el turno de "The Balloon Jacket"  de PetiteKnit y para hacerla tengo que "reciclar" el hilo "Big Merino"  de DROPS Design  que utilicé para tejer este proyecto que no quedó como esperaba y lleva varios años guardado en un armario.

Así que en los próximos días me toca deshacer y ovillar para poder empezar a tejer otra vez...

Just I had expected, I've been busy with the  "Delphinus" pullover since the end of February and, lacking some final touches and the corresponding blocking, I have almost finished it and I am about to start the next project of the "Make Nine Challenge".

Considering the current season, it is the turn of  "The Balloon Jacket" by  PetiteKnit and to make it I have to "recycle" the  DROPS Design "Big Merino" yarn I used to knit this project that didn't result as I expected and has been kept away in a closet for several years.

So during the following days I will have to unravel and wind so I can start knitting again...

Como no todo va a ser tejer el jersey "Delphinus", tengo en mente un proyecto sencillito y rápido de hacer que es un poco experimento pero que creo que puede quedar bien.

En realidad tengo varias ideas para hacer con ovillos DROPS Eskimo (que ahora se llama DROPS Snow)   porque después de hacer los salvamanteles Vichy  me quedé con ganas de practicar más el fieltrado y explorar otras posibilidades.

Si todo va según lo planificado dentro de muy poco podré enseñaros el resultado, espero que mi idea sea un éxito.

As not everything is about knitting the  "Delphinus" pullover, I have a very easy and quick to make project in my mind that it's kind of a experiment but that I think that might come out well.

Actually I have several ideas to make with  DROPS Eskimo skeins (which are now named DROPS Snow) because after making the  Gingham potholder  I wanted to practice felting more deeply and to explore other possibilities.

If everything goes as planned very soon I will be able to show you the result, I hope that my idea is a success.

Aunque llevo bastante tiempo tejiendo me gusta seguir aprendiendo técnicas y distintos tipos de punto, sobre todo cuando luego consigo ponerlos en práctica en algún proyecto nuevo.

Esto es un poco lo que me ha pasado con el punto brioche  que aprendí a finales del año pasado tejiendo el jersey "Light as a Feather" , ha resultado ser el punto perfecto para dar uso a unos ovillos de Katia Inca  que tenía en mi "stash" desde hace demasiado tiempo.

El proyecto es muy sencillo pero me está gustando mucho tejer con esta lana e ir descubriendo las combinaciones de color que se van formando poco a poco.

¿No os encantan este tipo de ovillos?

Although I've been knitting for quite a long time I like to keep learning new techniques and different types of stitches, specially when I can later use them on a new project.

This is more or less what has happenned to me with brioche stitch which I learned at the end of last year knitting  "Light as a Feather" sweater, it results to be the perfect stitch to use some  Katia Inca skeins I had in my "stash" since too much time ago.

The project is very simple but I am enjoying a lot knitting with this yarn and discovering the colour combinations that keep forming little by little.

Don't you just love this kind of yarn?

Oslo Hat

 

El último proyecto que terminé en 2020 es el gorro de lana "Oslo Hat" de  PetiteKnit  y podría decir que lo tejí en lo que es un tiempo récord para mí, concretamente en cinco días.

Es uno de los patrones que había escogido a principios de año para el desafío "Make Nine Challenge"  pero además me ha servido también para cumplir otro de mis objetivos desde hace tiempo, reducir mi "stash", ya que para tejerlo he utilizado unos ovillos que compré hace unos años en Barcelona.

Hasta ahora no había encontrado un proyecto que se ajustara a lo que yo buscaba para este tipo de lana y, aunque compré los ovillos pensando en tejer una bufanda, al final resulta que este diseño de PetiteKnit  es perfecto para mantener el protagonismo del color amarillo que es justo lo que yo quería.

Tal y como me imaginaba, este patrón ha resultado ser bastante adictivo y seguramente acabaré repitiendo modelo en más colores y, de paso, contribuyendo a mi objetivo de reducir "stash". 

The last project I finished in 2020 is the wool  "Oslo Hat" by  PetiteKnit and I could say that I knitted it in what for me is a record time, exactly in five days.

It is one of the patterns I had chosen at the beginning of the year for the  "Make Nine Challenge" but it also served me to accomplish another one of my longtime goals, reducing my stash, as to knit it I have used some skeins I bought a couple of years ago in Barcelona.

Until the moment I hadn't found a project that would fit into what I searched for this type of yarn and, although  I bought the skeins wiht the aim of knitting a scarf, in the end it results that this design by  PetiteKnit is perfect to keep the importance of yellow colour which is exactly what I wanted.

Just as I imagined, this pattern has turned out to be quite addictive and I would probably end repeating the design in more colours and, incidentally, contributing to my goal of reducing "stash".

DIY - Salvamanteles Vichy de fieltro / DIY - Felted Gingham potholder

En mi "stash"  hay un poco de todo y, como ya sabéis, este año estoy muy concienciada en usar lo que tengo así que he pensado una idea DIY para utilizar unos ovillos de DROPS Eskimo  que tenía sin utilizar.

La particularidad de este tipo de hilo es que, como es 100% lana, es ideal para fieltrar por lo que me ha parecido la oportunidad perfecta para poner en práctica esta técnica haciendo un salvamanteles de fieltro con estampado Vichy.

Aunque puede parecer algo un poco complicado, os aseguro que no tiene ninguna dificultad más allá de ser capaz de tejer del derecho del revés y de saber utilizar una lavadora...

De hecho, me parece que el fieltrado tiene muchas posibilidades creativas así que seguramente no será la última vez que experimente con ello.

In my stash there's a little bit of everything and, as you already know, this year I am very aware of using what I already have so I have thought a DIY idea to use some  DROPS Eskimo skeins I had unused.

The particularity of this kind of yarn is that, as it is 100% wool, it is ideal for felting so I thought this was the perfect occasion to put this technique into practice making a felted Gingham potholder.

Although it may seem a little bit complicated, I assure you that it not trickier than being able to knit and purl and than knowing how to use a washing machine...

In fact, I think that felting has many creative possibilities so surely this won't be the last time I experience with it.

INSTRUCCIONES

Lana: DROPS Eskimo  en dos colores diferentes (o cualquier lana de características similares) - aproximadamente 10 gr.

Agujas: Agujas rectas de 8 mm

Puntos utilizados: Punto del derecho y punto del revés

Pasos:

• Montar 21 puntos o un número impar de puntos que sea múltiplo de 3
• Tejer alternando los colores según el diagrama Vichy (las vueltas pares del derecho y las impares del revés)

• Cerrar todos los puntos, cortar la hebra y rematar escondiendo la lana que sobra

• Fieltrar la pieza en la lavadora según las instrucciones que encontraréis aquí
• Bloquear bien la pieza para que quede con la forma y el tamaño que queremos

• ¡Disfrutar de vuestro salvamanteles de fieltro con estampado Vichy!

INSTRUCTIONS

Yarn: DROPS Eskimo in two different colours (or any other yarn with similar characteristics) - approximately 10 gr.

Needles: 8 mm / US 11 straight needles

Sitches used: Knit and Purl

Steps:

Cast on 21 stitches or an odd number of stitches multiple of 3 

Knit and purl alternating the colours according to the Gingham scheme (knit on even rows  and purl on odd ones)

• Cast off all the stitches, cut the yarn and weave in ends 

• Felt the piece in the washing machine according to the instructions you will find here
• Block the piece in order to obtain the desired form and size

• Enjoy your Gingham felt potholder!

Mi último capricho del verano ha sido el kit  "Cocoon Summer Sweater"  de Pickles  que compré con la idea de tenerlo terminado para principios de otoño.

En realidad tejerlo no estaba en mis planes pero vi una foto del jersey terminado en su cuenta de Instagram  y ya no pude resistirme.

Tampoco es ninguna sorpresa porque los diseños de Pickles  siempre han sido de mis favoritos desde que empecé a tejer y a hacer ganchillo, pero esta es la primera vez que utilizo los ovillos de su marca.

Para este patrón estoy utilizando el hilo "Sommerull " que es una mezcla de lana de cordero y algodón ecológico y me ha sorprendido mucho porque tiene una textura muy agradable que va a hacer que el jersey sea perfecto para los días cálidos de otoño.

De momento sólo puedo enseñaros los ovillos pero ya tengo el jersey casi terminado así que dentro de muy poco publicaré el resultado completo.

My latest summer whim was the  "Cocoon Summer Sweater" kit by  Pickles which I bought thinking of finishing it by the beginning of autumn.

Actually knitting it was not on my plans but when I saw a picture of the finished sweater on their  Instagram account I couldn't resist myself.

It is no surprise at all because  Pickles designs have always been some of my favorites since I started knitting and crocheting, but it is the first time I use skeins from their brand.

Fot this pattern I am using "Sommerull" yarn which is a comibinabion of lamb wool and ecologic cotton and I am very surprised because the texture is very nice which will make the sweater perfect for warm autumn days.

At the moment I can only show the skeins but I have almost finished the sweater so very soon I will post the whole result.

Bolso de Punto "eccomin" / "eccomin" Knit Bag

La primera vez que os hablé del trabajo de "eccomin"  fue en una publicación de 2014 y, desde entonces, no he dejado de seguirle la pista porque me encanta todo lo que hace.

Desde el primer momento tuve un auténtico flechazo con uno de sus bolsos de punto: el diseño, el color, la calidad del hilo... ¡Quería tejer uno igual para mí!

En aquel momento yo no imaginaba que llegaríamos a "conocernos" en el mundo virtual y gracias al libro que me regaló en 2016 ya he hecho varios de sus diseños. Sin embargo, la idea de reproducir ese bolso tan maravilloso siempre ha estado ahí y, por fin, me he animado a tejerlo.

Para hacerlo he ido un poco sobre seguro y he utilizado los ovillos gigantes Phil Express  de Phildar  que compré en "La Lainerie" en Burdeos ya que al ser lana muy gordita hacen que se avance muy rápido en la labor.

Cuando compré los ovillos la idea era utilizarlos para hacer un cuello de lana o una maxi bufanda pero cuando me decidí a hacer el bolso me pareció una buena idea utilizar esta lana tan gordita y, de hecho, me encanta cómo ha quedado.

Esta ha sido mi primera aproximación al icónico bolso de punto de eccomin pero, como podréis imaginar, ya tengo en mente repetir la idea con otro tipo de hilo para que se parezca más a la idea original.

The first time I told you about  eccomin's work was on a post in 2014 and, since then, I haven't stopped tracing her because I love everything she does.

Since the first moment I had a true crush with one of her knit bags: the design, the colour, the quality of the yarn... I wanted to knit another one for me!

At that moment I couldn't imagine we would "meet" each other in the virtual world and thanks to the book she gifted me in 2016 I have already made some of her designs. However, the idea of recreating that wonderful bag has always been there and, finally, I have decided myself to knitting it.

To make it I have played it safe and I have used the super sized  Phil Express skeins from  Phildar that I bought at  "La Lainerie" in Bordeaux because as it is a bulky yarn the knitting is done really fast.

When I bought the skeins the idea was to use them to make a cowl or a maxi scarf but when I decided to make the bag I thought it could be a good idea to use this bulky wool and, actually, I love the result.

This is my first contact with the iconic knit bag from  eccomin but, as you can imagine, I have already in mind repeating the idea with another type of yarn so it looks more like the original idea.

Cosas que me gustan / Things I like # 44 Effortless Crochet Zpagetti Bags

Últimamente estoy pensando mucho en cómo dar uso a los ovillos que tengo en mi stash  y el trapillo no es una excepción.

Normalmente me cuesta encontrar proyectos de trapillo que me entusiasmen pero hace poco he descubierto los preciosos bolsitos que hace Effortless Crochet  y de repente me han dado muchas ganas de utilizar algunas de las bobinas que tengo en casa.

Ahora la única duda que se me plantea es si tendré suficiente trapillo para conseguir una combinación de colores tan bonita y original.

Lately I've been thinking a lot about how to use the skeins I have on my stash and zpagetti it's not an exception.

I usually find it difficult to find thrilling zpagetti projects but recently I have discovered the pretty little bags made by  Effortless Crochet  and suddenly I feel so motivated to use some of the bobbins I have at home.

Now my only doubt is whether I will have enough zpagetti to get such a beautiful and original combination of colours.

A principios de este año me propuse tomarme en serio el objetivo de reducir mi "stash"  y, por eso, cuando me planteé el desafío "Make Nine Challenge"  tuve en cuenta los ovillos que ya tenía en casa para elegir los proyectos que quería hacer.

La verdad es que no  me llevó mucho tiempo y fue más fácil de lo que pensaba, pero es que realmente tengo mucho donde escoger así que supongo que tampoco tiene tanto mérito.

Entre mis ovillos favoritos a los que asignar proyecto estaban los de DROPS Air  y DROPS Kid Silk que me sobraron después de terminar el jersey "Sunday Sweater"  y, ahora que he empezado a tejer las primeras vueltas del nuevo proyecto, estoy bastante segura de que he escogido un patrón perfecto para esta combinación de hilos.

At the beginning of this year I resolved to take the goal of reducing my stash seriously and, therefore, when I thought about the  "Make Nine Challenge" I considered the skeins I already had at home to select the projects I wanted to make.

Honestly it didn't take me much time and it was easier than I thought, but I really have many to choose from so I guess it's not such an achievement.

Among my favorite skeins waiting to be assigned a project were the ones from  DROPS Air and  DROPS Kid Silk left after finishing the  "Sunday Sweater" and, now that I have started knitting the first rows of the new project, I am pretty sure that I have chosen a perfect pattern for this combination of yarn.

Garter Earflap Hat

Uno de los principales motivos por los que empecé a tejer es que quería hacer todos los proyectos de Purl Soho  y de vez en cuando reduzco un poco la lista haciendo alguno de sus maravillosos patrones.

Entre todas sus diseños mis favoritos son los de bebés así que cuando este invierno he tenido que tejer un gorrito de lana para un bebé el patrón "Garter Earflap Hat"  fue una de las primeras ideas que me vino a la cabeza.

La primera vez que tejí este gorrito fue para mi sobrina hace unos años y, aunque me gustó mucho cómo quedó entonces, en esta ocasión he cambiado un poco la versión utilizando unos ovillos de Katia Basic Merino  que tenía en mi "stash" y sustituyendo la borla por un pompón en color rojo, a petición de la mami del pequeñín.

La verdad es que tenía este patrón un poco en el olvido pero seguramente lo repetiré porque me parece el regalo perfecto para un bebé.

P.D: Cuando cumplí mi sueño y visité  Purl Soho  en Nueva York :)

One of the main reasons why I started knitting is that I wanted to make all the projects from  Purl Soho and once in a while I cut down on the list by making one of their wonderful patterns.

Among all of their designs my favorites are the ones for babies so when this winter I had to knit a wool hat for a baby  "Garter Earflap Hat" pattern was one of the first ideas that came to my mind.

The first time I knitted this hat was for my niece some years ago and, although I liked a lot how it resulted then, in this occasion I changed the version a little bit by using some Katia Basic Merino skeins I had on my stash and by substituting the tassel for a red coloured pom pom, upon request of the mom of the ittle baby.

The truth is I had almost forgotten about this pattern but I will repeat for sure as I think it is the perfect gift for a baby.

Desde la llegada del otoño no he dejado de pensar en proyectos nuevos para los ovillos que tengo en mi "stash"  desde hace tiempo.

Ya tengo varias ideas en  proceso y una de las que más ilusión me hace incluye unos metros de "Silkhair Lusso"  de  Lanagrossa  que me sobraron después de tejer el gorro de mohair  de Mlle. Sophie.

Espero poder enseñaros el resultado muy pronto...

Since the arrival of autumn I haven't stopped thinking about new projects for the skeins I have had on my stash for a long time.

I already have some ideas in progress and one of the ones I am more excited about includes some meters of  "Silkhair Lusso" by  Lanagrossa I kept as leftovers after knitting  Mlle. Sophie mohair hat.

I hope I can show you the result very soon...

French Market Bag

Hace casi un mes os hablaba de mi primer proyecto del verano y ahora por fin puedo enseñaros el resultado.

Como ya os expliqué entonces, se trataba de uno de los bolsos de ganchillo que seleccioné como inspiración el año pasado (y que por falta de tiempo no pude hacer) así que ahora estoy más que contenta de haberlo terminado.

De las cinco ideas que os proponía, he escogido el patrón "French Market Bag"  de Two of Wands  porque me encanta su diseño de estilo francés (tal y como su nombre indica) y porque me parece perfecto para utilizar en verano.

Para hacer la bolsa he utilizado parte de unos ovillos de "Phildar Amazone"  que tenía en mi stash  desde hace años y el proceso ha sido bastante fácil y entretenido por lo que me parece que es un proyecto muy interesante para quienes estén empezando con el ganchillo.

Si os gustan este tipo de bolsas de ganchillo mi consejo es no tardéis tanto como yo en empezar a hacer la vuestra... ¡Os va a encantar!

P.D: Los ovillos "gigantes" que asoman por la bolsa también son de Phildar  y los compré el verano pasado en Burdeos

Almost one month ago  I told you about my first summer project and now I can finally show you the result.

As I already explained then, it was one of the crochet bags I chose as inspiration last year (and which I couldn't make due to the lack of time) so now I am more than happy for finishing it.

From the five ideas I suggested, I chose "French Market Bag"  by  Two of Wands because I love its french style design (just as its name implies) and because I think it is perfect for using during the summer.

To make the bag I have used some  "Phildar Amazone" balls I had in my stash since some years ago and the process was quite quickly and entertaining so I find it is a very interesting project for those who are starting crocheting.

If you like this kind of crochet bags my advice is that you don't take so much time as me in starting to make your own... You are going to love it!

P.S: The "giant" skeins that show up from the bag are also from  Phildar and I bought them last summer in Bordeaux

Este año mi primer proyecto del verano es una idea de la que ya os he hablado pero que por falta de tiempo todavía no había podido hacer, un bolso de ganchillo hecho a mano.

Este tipo de bolsos están bastante de moda últimamente y al final el año pasado me quedé con las ganas de hacer uno así que no es raro que estuviera en el primer puesto de mi lista de proyectos por hacer.

Además, me viene muy bien para utilizar unos ovillos de Phildar  que tengo desde hace tiempo y para los que nunca encontraba un patrón adecuado.

De momento lo he cogido con muchas ganas y le estoy dedicando un ratito cada día así que espero poder enseñaros el resultado muy pronto.


This year my first summer project is an idea I had already told you about but due to the lack of time I haven't been able to make yet, a handmade crochet bag.

This kind of bags are quite trendy lately and at the end last year I really missed not making one so it is not strange that it was at the first position of my list of projects to make.

Furthermore, it is a good opportunity for me to use some Phildar skeins I've kept for a long time and for which I never found an adequate pattern.

At the moment I have started it very enthusiastically and I am spending some time on it each day so I hope I can show you the result very soon.

Contra todo pronóstico una de las últimas incorporaciones a mi stash  han sido unos ovillos de DROPS Air  mezcla de lana y alpaca porque desde que terminó el invierno llevo pensando en el que va a ser mi primer proyecto para cuando vuelva el frío.

Todavía quedan algunos meses por delante pero no os podéis imaginar las ganas que tengo de empezar a tejerlo...

Against all odds one of the latest additions to my stash are some  DROPS Air skeins mixture of wool and alpaca as since winter ended I've been thinking about my first project for the moment when cold weather is back.

There are still a couple of months ahead but you can't imagine how much I am looking forward to start knitting it...

DIY - Salvamanteles de trapillo / Zpagetti trivet

Todos los años cuando llega el buen tiempo aprovecho para sacar las bobinas de trapillo que tengo sin usar e intento buscar algún proyecto interesante para hacer con ellas.

Este año todavía no tengo nada en mente pero creo que es un buen momento para compartir una de las ideas que hice el año pasado: un salvamanteles de trapillo en punto.

Es un proyecto muy rápido y fácil de tejer que puede hacerse sólo con una bobina pequeña de trapillo pero es perfecto para dar buen uso al trapillo que tenéis almacenado.

Each year with the arrival of nice weather I usually get back to the zpagetti bobbins I haven't used and I try to find an interesting project to make with them.

This year I haven't thought of anything yet but I think it is a good moment to share one of the ideas I made last year: a knitted zpagetti trivet.

It is a very quick and easy to knit project and you can make it with only one small bobbin of zpagetti but it is perfect to put the zpagetti you have stashed to good use.

PATRÓN GRATUITO

Trapillo: Bobina pequeña de aproximadamente 25 metros

Agujas: Agujas rectas de 8 mm

Puntos utilizados: Punto del derecho

Pasos:

• Montar 16 puntos (esta medida está pensada para un salvamanteles pequeño de aproximadamente 18x18 cm)
• Tejer en punto bobo (todas las vueltas del derecho) durante aproximadamente 28 vueltas o las vueltas necesarias para alcanzar la medida que os guste
• Cerrar todos los puntos y dejar un trozo de trapillo suficientemente largo para coser un asa pequeña para colgar el salvamanteles

FREE PATTERN

Zpagetti: One small bobbin of approximately 25 meters / 990 inches

Needles: US 11 / 8 mm straight needles

Stitches used: Garter stitch

Steps:

• Cast on 16 stitches (this measure is thought for a small trivet of aproximately 18x18 cm / 7x7 inches)
• Knit aproximately 28 rounds in garter stitch (knit all the rounds) or as many rounds as you need to reach the measure you like 
• Cast off all the stitches and leave a piece of zpagetti long enough to sew a small handle to hang the trivet
