Mis tiendas favoritas de Etsy / My favorite Etsy shops #8 - Helena Carrington

Hace tiempo que no escribo sobre mis tiendas favoritas de Etsy así que, con las vacaciones de verano todavía frescas en mi cabeza, me parece el momento perfecto para hablar de las preciosas ilustraciones de Helena Carrington.

La temática de sus dibujos son fachadas de edificios representativos de distintas ciudades realizados con tantos detalles que casi podrían servir para jugar a adivinar de qué lugar se trata. 

Como buena enamorada de los viajes y la papelería que soy, me parecen la combinación perfecta para tener un buen recuerdo de las ciudades que más me han gustado.

Todavía no he comprado ninguna pero ya he escogido mis ilustraciones favoritas y seguro que no tardo mucho en tenerlas colgadas en mi casa.

I haven't written about my favorite Etsy shops for a while so, with summer holidays still fresh on my mind, I think it is the perfect moment to talk about  Helena Carrington's beautiful illustrations.

The thematic of her designs are representative building facades from different cities done with so many details that they could almost be used as a "which place it is" guessing game.

As the good traveling and stationery lover I am, I find them the perfect combo to have a nice souvenir from the cities I have liked the most.

I still haven't bought any of them but I have already chosen my favorite prints and I am sure it won't take me too much time to have them hanging in my house.

Happy (Crafting) Weekend

Todavía no he terminado ninguno de los proyectos que he empezado este otoño pero en mi cabeza no dejo de pensar en nuevas ideas en las que utilizar algunos de los ovillos que tengo en mi stash  desde hace tiempo.

A veces me resulta complicado porque quiero hacer algo especial con ellos así que estoy continuamente buscando el proyecto perfecto.

Estos ovillos amarillos se vinieron conmigo de Barcelona hace ya dos años y, aunque desde el principio tuve claro que quería hacer un chal con ellos, todavía no me he decidido por ningún patrón en concreto.

Seguiré buscando hasta que me llegue la inspiración...

I still haven't finished any of the projects I've started this autumn but in my mind I can't stop thinking of new ideas so I can use some of the skeins I have in my stash long ago.

Sometimes I find it difficult as I want to make something special with them so I am continuously looking for the perfect project.

These yellow balls came with me from Barcelona already two years ago and, even if since the beginning I was sure I wanted to make a shawl with them, I haven't decided on any specific pattern yet.

I will continue searching until I get inspired...

Happy (Crafting) Weekend

Todavía es pronto para sacar las lanas gorditas pero no para empezar a planificar proyectos para los próximos meses de otoño e invierno.

Como siempre arrastro labores que no he terminado pero también tengo ideas nuevas que estoy deseando hacer así que tengo tarea de sobra para cuando llegue el frío de verdad.

En realidad sé que mi planificación irá cambiando sobre la marcha porque me resulta casi imposible resistirme cuando veo un patrón bonito pero bueno... el efecto sorpresa también tiene su encanto.

It is still soon to take out chunky wool but not to start planning projects for the following autumn and winter months.

As usual I bring some knits that I haven't finished but I also have new ideas that I am eager to make so I have enough work to do when real cold weather arrives.

Actually I know that my planning will be changing along the way because it is almost impossible for me to resist when I see a beautiful pattern but well... the effect of surprise has its own charm too.

Mis DIY favoritos / My favorite DIYs #27 - Watercolour Notebooks

Cuando iba al colegio me encantaba estrenar cuadernos y aunque ahora me limito a cambiar de agenda cada año sigo teniendo debilidad por los artículos de papelería así que aprovechando que es época de empezar las clases me apetece compartir un DIY de Fellow Felllow  para personalizar cuadernos con acuarelas.

Me parece una idea genial para conseguir cuadernos bonitos con un toque único y personal.

When I went to school I loved using notebooks for the first time and although the only thing I do now is changing my agenda each year I still have a weakness for stationery so considering it is back to school season I feel like sharing a DIY by  Fellow Fellow to make custom watercolour notebooks.

I think it is  a great idea to have some beautiful notebooks with a unique and personal touch.

DIY - Funda Moleskine / Moleskine Cover

Hace dos años os enseñaba la funda de punto que había hecho para mi agenda Moleskine y como estamos a punto de empezar un nuevo año me parece que es el momento perfecto para compartir mi patrón para que en 2017 ninguna agenda se quede sin su funda.

Es un proyecto muy facilito y rápido de tejer así que espero que os animéis a hacerlo (por supuesto luego quiero ver el resultado).

Podéis encontrar toda la información con las instrucciones y materiales necesarios debajo de las fotos.

Two years ago I showed you the knitted cover I had made for my Moleskine planner and as we are about to start a new year I think it is the perfect moment to share my pattern so in 2017 no planner remains without its cover.

It is a very easy and quick to knit project so I hope that you fancy making it (I do want to see the result later).

PATRÓN GRATUITO

Importante: Este patrón está pensado para una agenda Moleskine semanal tamaño bolsillo así que si vuestra agenda es de otro tamaño tendréis que adaptar el patrón a sus medidas

Lana: 50 gr. de lana de 5 mm en vuestro color preferido y restos de lana en algún color que contraste para personalizar la funda (yo utilicé DROPS Nepal  en color "Violeta Oscuro" y "Lila Violeta")

Agujas: Agujas de doble punta o circulares de 4 mm

Puntos utilizados: Punto del derecho

Pasos:

• Montar 40 puntos y unir para empezar a tejer en circular.
• Tejer todos los puntos del derecho durante 44 vueltas o las vueltas necesarias para alcanzar la medida que os guste.

• Cerrar todos los puntos.
• Coser la parte de abajo para cerrar la funda.
• Personalizar la funda con el detalle que más os guste: una figura, vuestra inicial, etc... (yo hice un corazón duplicando los puntos con un color en contraste)

FREE PATTERN

Important: This pattern is created for a pocket size  Moleskine weekly planner so if your planner has a different size you will have to adapt the pattern to its measures

Yarn: 50 gr. of 5 mm yarn in your favorite colour and some leftover yarn in a contrasting colour to customize the cover (I used  DROPS Nepal  in "Dark Purple" and "Purple")

Needles: Double pointed or 4mm circular needles

Stitches used: Knit

Steps:

• Cast on 40 stitches  and join to start knitting in the round.
• Knit all the stitches during 44 rounds or the necessary ones to get the measure you like.
• Cast off all the stitches.
• Sew the bottom to close the cover.
• Customise the cover with the embellishment you like the most: a design, your initial, etc... (I made a heart by duplicating the stitches in a contrasting colour).

Mi experiencia Pixum / My Pixum experience

A finales de octubre recibí un e-mail de Pixum en el que me invitaban a probar algunos de sus productos a cambio de contar mi experiencia en el blog.

En cuanto eché un vistazo a su página web lo tuve claro, se me ocurrieron un montón de ideas para hacer con las fotos de mis creaciones así que no dudé en colaborar con ellos.

Lo primero que escogí fue un calendario de escritorio porque me gustó mucho el diseño y me parece muy práctico para tenerlo junto al ordenador. Cada hoja del calendario está impresa en papel fotográfico y viene con una cajita metálica que sirve de soporte, así es fácil pasar las hojas y descubrir una imagen nueva cada mes.

También decidí coger otro calendario, un calendario anual en A3 para poder ver todo el año de un vistazo. Este calendario es ideal para colocar en la nevera y en casa ya lo conocemos como el calendario de los amigurumis porque en las fotos aparecen algunos de los que he hecho a lo largo del año.

Por último, escogí una idea que me encantó nada más verla, fotopegatinas de mis creaciones en distintos tamaños. Todavía no tengo muy claro qué voy a hacer con ellas pero son tan monas que quedarán genial en cualquier parte.

At the end of October I received an e-mail from Pixum where they invited me to test some of their products and then talk about it on my blog.

As soon as I took a look at their website I was sure about it, a lot of ideas of pictures with my creations came to my mind so I didn't hesitate in working with them

My first choice was a desktop calendar because I liked the design a lot and I think it is very practical to have it next to the computer. Each page of the calendar is printed in photographic paper and it comes into a tin box which serves as support, so it is easy to turn the pages and discover a new picture each month.

I also decided to take another calendar, an A3 annual photo planner so I can see the whole year at a glance. This calendar is perfect for the fridge and at home we already know it as the amigurumi calendar because the pictures show some of the ones I've made along the year. 

Finally, I chose something that I loved at first sight, photo stickers with my creations in different sizes. I am still not sure what I will do with them but they are so cute that they will look great anywhere.

De compras en Londres / Shopping in London - Liberty of London

Ya sabéis que soy una fan total de Liberty y sus estampados, así que en mi viaje a Londres no podía faltar una visita a su tienda.

Aunque me hubiera encantado comprar un montón de cosas, decidí ser práctica y centrarme en dos de sus secciones: papelería y mercería.

La papelería es uno de mis debilidades y, aunque en realidad iba buscando unos lapiceros del estilo del que os enseñé aquí, no pude resistirme a comprar un set de tres cuadernos con uno estampados preciosos.

La sección de mercería era visita obligada así que estuve un buen rato curioseando entre las cosas que había.

Mi intención erar comprar alguna de sus telas, en concreto el modelo Betsy de Tana Lawn que es uno de mis favoritos, pero no tenía muy claro qué hacer con ella así que al final me decanté por un kit de costura para hacer un monedero y un neceser con mi adorada tela Betsy.

La idea del kit me pareció un opción genial, así que compré también un kit para hacer un broche, esta vez con el modelo Poppy and Daisy también de Tana Lawn.

En mi caso tener un proyecto concreto en el que utilizar las telas me facilita mucho las cosas, porque siempre me parecen tan bonitas que me da pena usarlas y acaban almacenadas en la estantería.

You already know that I am a great fan of  Liberty and their patterns, so in my trip to London I couldn't miss visiting their shop.

Although I would have loved to buy a lot of things, I decided to be practical and to focus only in two of their sections: stationery and haberdashery.

Stationery is one of my weaknesses so, eventhough I was only looking for some pencils similar to the one I showed you here, I couldn't resist buying a set of three beautiful pattern notebooks.

Haberdashery section was an obliged visit so I spent a while browsing among all the things there.

My intention was to buy some of their fabrics, more specifically  Betsy Tana Lawn design which is one of my favorites, but I wasn't very sure about what to do with it so I finally chose a make up and coin purse sewing kit with my beloved  Betsy fabric.

I found the kit a great idea, so I also bought a fabric corsage kit, this time with the Poppy and Daisy Tana Lawn design.

Having an specific project for the fabric is much easier for me because I always find them so beautiful that I feel sad to use them, so I end stocking them on my stash.

Funda de punto para la agenda / Daily planner knitted cover

Este es uno de esos "hazlo tú mismo" que me da mucha rabia que no se me haya ocurrido a mí antes: una funda de punto para la agenda.

 

La idea la he cogido de Pinterest  y aunque las fundas son más habituales para proteger móviles y tablets me pareció una forma graciosa de cuidar mi adorada Moleskine.

  

Para hacerla he utilizado unos ovillos de lana que tenía por casa buscando un color que fuera a juego con mi agenda: morado oscuro y un pequeño corazón bordado en  lila.

Puede que no sea un gran invento, pero es una de esas pequeñas cosas que hacen la vida más divertida.

 

 

This is one of those DIY that I regret not being the first to think about it: a knitted cover for the daily planner.

 

I took the idea from Pinterest and although covers are more likely to protect mobile phones and tablets I found it was a funny way of taking care of my beloved Moleskine.

 

I made it using some spare yarn skeins I had at home looking for a colour that would match with my daily planner: dark purple and a small embroidered heart in lilac.

It may not be a great invention, but it is one of those little things that make life much more enjoyable.
 

 

 

 

Mis tiendas favoritas de Etsy / My favorite Etsy shops # 4 - Memi the Rainbow

Hace mucho que no actualizaba esta sección, pero hoy vuelvo con una de mis tiendas favoritas de Etsy: Memi the Rainbow.

En ella podéis encontrar sellos de goma carvados a mano por Patricia inspirándose en el mundo kawaii y en los dibujos animados. El resultado son unos sellos muy bonitos y de gran calidad ideales para decorar artículos de papelería, regalos o incluso ropa.

Yo ya tengo un pedacito del universo Memi the Rainbow en mi casa porque el verano pasado fui la afortunada ganadora de un sorteo que organizó en su blog.

It's been a long time since I last updated this section, but today I am back with one of my favorite Etsy shops: Memi the Rainbow.

There you can find hand carved rubber stamps made by Patricia who gets inspiration from kawaii world and cartoons. The result are very pretty and high quality stamps perfect to decorate stationery, gifts or even clothes.

I already have a piece of Memi the Rainbow universe at home as last summer I was the lucky winner of a giveaway she organised in her blog.

Pequeños caprichos confesables: agenda Moleskine / Little confessable whims: Moleskine diary

 

Uno de mis rituales de obligado cumplimiento cada año es estrenar una agenda Moleskine,

 

Descubrí la marca cuando vivía en Italia (allá por el 2003) gracias a mi amiga Maria Giulia y desde entonces para mí no existe otra agenda.

 

Mi modelo favorito es el de planificación semanal en tamaño bolsillo, ni muy grande ni muy pequeña. Ahora desde que las hacen de colores cada año me doy el gusto de elegir uno diferente.

 

Este año la he elegido en un color amarillo precioso (uno de mis colores favoritos) y ya estoy lista para afrontar el año!

(El lápiz que aparece en la foto lo compré en una tienda Liberty en Edimburgo hace como un trillón de años, así que le tengo mucho cariño y apenas lo uso. Ya os hablaré otro día de mi pasión por los artículos de papelería…)

 

One of my yearly mandatory rituals is to have a new Moleskine diary.

I discovered this brand when I lived in Italy (as far back as 2003) thanks to my friend Maria Giulia and since then there's no other diary for me.

My favorite model is the pocked size daily planner, nor too big nor too small. Now since they make them in different colours I give myself the treat of choosing a different colour each year.

This year I have chosen a beautiful yellow colour (one of my favorite colours) and now I am ready to face this year!

(I bought the pencil that appears in the picture at a Liberty shop in Edinburgh something like a trillion years ago, so I’m very fond of it and I hardly use it. Someday I will tell you about my love for stationery...)
