Este año ha sido un auténtico desafío y, desde luego, la Navidad va a ser de todo menos típica pero no por eso hay que perder la ilusión en estos días.

Espero que paséis unas Felices Fiestas y que a partir de ahora lleguen sólo cosas buenas.

Desafío Handbox - Navidad con Tintes Iberia

 

Como ya os adelanté la semana pasada, este mes estoy participando en el "Desafío Hanbox" en colaboración con Tintes Iberia  cuyo objetivo es dar color a la Navidad y en el que se premiará al proyecto más creativo entre todos los que participen.

Desde el principio me pareció una iniciativa interesante y divertida así que intenté buscar un proyecto en el que pudiera sacar el máximo partido de los tintes, lo que me hizo pensar en la posibilidad de utilizar restos de ovillos en color crudo para experimentar con el color.

Mi idea inicial era hacer adornos con motivos navideños en lana fieltrada (siguiendo el mismo proceso que utilicé aquí) pero cuando leí en las instrucciones de los tintes que no eran aptos para teñir lana me pareció un poco arriesgado centrarme sólo en esa idea, así que decidí acompañar el proyecto con un letrero y unos arbolitos de algodón tejidos en tricotín.

Lo primero que hice fue hacer las estrellas de ganchillo fieltradas y el letrero de "Feliz Navidad" y los árboles con el tricotín, todo en color crudo para aprovechar al máximo el efecto del tinte.

Para cada tipo de adorno escogí un color y un efecto de tintado diferente: 

• Las estrellas de lana fieltrada azules con un efecto "tie-dye"
• El letrero de "Feliz Navidad" en rojo intenso como si fuera un cartel con luces de neón
• Los arbolitos en verde pero con un tintado selectivo en la parte superior simulando nieve

Después empecé con la parte divertida, el tintado siguiendo las instrucciones de Tintes Iberia (en mi caso no se trataba de ropa pero seguí los pasos indicados de para teñir y fue todo súper fácil y limpio, no tuve que limpiar nada más que la palangana que utilicé para dejar los adornos en remojo).

No os voy a negar que estaba un poco nerviosa por ver cómo habían quedado mis adornos navideños (sobre todo por las estrellas de lana) pero el resultado fue justo como me esperaba, con la intensidad de color que quería para cada elemento decorativo.

Así que, puedo decir que he cumplido el objetivo de dar color a la Navidad con éxito y después de esta experiencia he descubierto que el tintado ofrece muchas posibilidades creativas (incluso con lana 100%)  que seguramente pondré de nuevo en práctica en el futuro.

Cuando llega diciembre siempre intento hacer algo especial relacionado con la Navidad y este año no iba a ser diferente pero además voy a tener un poco de ayuda extra.

Las chicas de Handbox  han organizado un desafío para dar color a la Navidad junto con Tintes Iberia  y yo he sido una de las personas seleccionadas para participar en él.

Todavía no os puedo contar cuál va a ser mi propuesta navideña con color pero, como os podéis imaginar, habrá ovillos e hilos incluidos en el proceso...

With the arrival of December I always try to make something special related to Christmas and this year it won't be different but in addition I will have some extra help.

The girls from  Handbox have organised a challenge to colour up Christmas together with  Tintes Iberia and I have been one of the persons selected to take part on it.

I still can't tell you which will be my colour Christmas design but, as you can guess, there will be some skeins and yarn involved in the process... 

Happy (Crafting) Weekend

El primer fin de semana de 2020 coincide con la llegada de los Reyes Magos que es una de mis celebraciones favoritas.

Para mí es tradición empezar el día desayunando roscón y luego dedicar buena parte de la mañana a tejer, seguro que no os sorprende...

The first weekend of 2020 coincides with the arrival of the Three Wise Men which is one of my favorite celebrations.

For me it's a tradition to start the day eating the traditional cake and afterwards to spend quite a big part of the morning kntting, I am sure it doesn't surprise anyone...

Adiós, 2019 / Goodbye, 2019

El año pasado despedí 2018 escribiendo una serie de buenos propósitos que, haciendo un resumen rápido, podría decir que he cumplido con bastante éxito.

Este año no he sido tan organizada y no tengo una lista detallada de mis buenas intenciones pero os aseguro que me encanta la idea de saber que siempre hay nuevo proyectos por hacer.

Os deseo un Feliz Año Nuevo y espero que traiga muchas cosas buenas ♥

Last year on my farewell to 2018 I wrote a series of resolutions that, making a quick recap, I could say I have successfully achieved.

This year I haven't been so organised and I don't have a detailed list of my good intentions but I can assure you that I love the idea of knowing that there will always be new projects to make.

I wish you a Happy New Year and I hope it will bring many good things ♥

Viaje a Laponia / Trip to Lapland

Estos días he estado compartiendo en mi cuenta de Instagram  algunas fotos de mi último viaje, una experiencia increíble en la región de Laponia en Finlandia.

Seguramente lo primero que os viene a la cabeza es nieve, renos y Papá Noel y, obviamente, hubo todo eso pero también unos paisajes preciosos con una luz mágica, que duraba poco tiempo cada día pero que era una auténtica maravilla.

Resumiendo os puedo contar que he aprendido a pescar en un lago helado, he paseado en moto de nieve, he recorrido bosques nevados en un trineo tirado por huskies, he descubierto que los renos son uno de mis nuevos animales favoritos y... me he contagiado del espíritu navideño más auténtico visitando la casa de Joulupukki.

Nunca hubiera imaginado que un destino tan invernal fuera para mí porque no me gusta nada el frío y ni siquiera sé esquiar, pero este es uno de esos viajes que merece la pena hacer.


These days I've been sharing on my  Instagram account some pictures of my latest trip, an amazing experience in Lapland region in Finland.

Probably the first thing that comes to your mind is snow, reindeers and Santa Claus and, obviously, all those things happened but also some beautiful landscapes with a magical light, that didn't last much each day but which was a real wonder.

In a few words I can tell you that I have learned to fish on an iced lake,I have ride a snowmobile, I have gone through snow-covered forests on a sledge guided by huskies, I have discovered that reindeers are one of my new favorite animals and... I've been overwhelmed by the most authentic Christmas joy visiting the house of   Joulupukki.

I had never imagined that such a winter destination could be my thing because I don't like cold weather at all and I can't even ski, but this is one of those trips worth making.

Durante las semanas previas a la Navidad siempre tengo varios proyectos en curso, algunas son cosas para regalar y otras son para mí.

No sé por qué pero es una época del año en la que disfruto mucho tejiendo, me resulta muy agradable estar en casa organizando mis ovillos y con mil ideas rondándome la cabeza.

Por el momento creo que me ha planificado bastante bien y me dará tiempo a hacer todo lo que está en mi lista, así que poco a poco os iré enseñando algunas cosas (otras son secretas...).

¿A alguien más le gusta ejercer de elfo navideño?

During the weeks before Christmas I always have several ongoing projects, some of them are gifts and other ones are things for me.

I don't know why but it is a season of the year when I enjoy knitting a lot, I find very pleasant to be at home organising my skeins and with thousands of ideas running through my head.

At the moment I think I have done a good planning and I will be able to make everything on my list, so little by little I will be showing you some things (other ones are secret...).

Anyone else likes being a Christmas elf?

Adiós, 2018 / Goodbye, 2018

Normalmente el último día del el año suelo recordar las cosas que he hecho a lo largo del año pero me he dado cuenta de que es más interesante pensar en los proyectos que están por llegar, así que he hecho una pequeña lista de buenos propósitos con las cosas que me gustaría hacer el año que viene:

• Terminar de tejer mi jersey "Garland"
• Hacer un cuello de lana con los ovillos que compré en Berlín
• Tejer el patrón "Sunday Sweater"  de PetiteKnit
• Seguir viajando y descubriendo tiendas de lana bonitas
• Reducir mi "stash"

Creo que son unos objetivos bastante realistas así que espero poder cumplirlos todos fácilmente.

¡Os deseo un Feliz Año Nuevo lleno de ilusiones y creatividad!

Usually the last day of the year I use to remind the things I have done along the year but I have realised that it is more interesting to think in the projects that are to come, so I have made a small list of resolutions with the things that I would like to make next year:

• To finish knitting my  "Garland" sweater
• To make a wool cowl with the yarn I bought in Berlin
• To knit the  "Sunday Sweater" pattern by  PetiteKnit 
• To continue traveling and discovering pretty yarn shops
• To reduce my stash

I think these goals are quite realistic so I hope to achieve all of them easily.

Desde que empezó el mes de diciembre cuando preparé mi calendario de adviento no he dejado de pensar en la Navidad  y, aunque parecía algo lejano, ya ha llegado el momento de celebrarlo.

Espero que paséis unos momentos muy felices con la gente que queréis.

Manoplas de punto / Knitted mittens

Hace sólo unas semanas os hablaba de las manoplas "Keep in Touch"  de DROPS Design  y ya puedo decir que... ¡He tejido mi primer par de manoplas!

No sé por qué en mi cabeza pensaba que sería algo complicado o lioso pero a la hora de la verdad resulta tan sencillo como tejer un gorro, sólo hay que ir poco a poco y seguir el patrón.

La peculiaridad es que este modelo de manoplas está pensado para poder usar el móvil y por eso tienen una abertura para los dedos pulgar e índice. Algo que también pensé que añadiría dificultad al proceso pero tampoco ha sido así y al final es un patrón muy sencillo que se teje súper rápido.

En lo que sí he fallado ha sido en la parte en la que decía que este patrón me iba a ayudar a reducir mi "stash"... Mi intención era buena porque tengo muchos ovillos de DROPS Nepal  en distintos colores en casa pero descubrí el nuevo tono "Blush"  (que es muy "yo") y no pude resistirme.

De todas formas, voy a repetir la idea usando los ovillos que ya tengo porque las manoplas "Keep in Touch"  me parecen un regalo perfecto para Navidad así que al final también cumpliré mi objetivo de reducir mis existencias.

A couple of weeks ago I told you about  "Keep in Touch" mittens by  DROPS Design and I can already said that... I've knitted my first pair of mittens!

I don't know why in my head I thought it would be something tricky or messy but when it comes down to it it is as simple as knitting a hat, you only have to go little by little and follow the pattern.

The peculiarity is that this design of mittens is mobile friendly so they have an opening for the thumb and index finger. I thought that this would make the process more difficult but it wasn't that way so in the end it is a very easy pattern which is knitted super quickly.

What I did fail in was in the part where I said that this pattern was going to help me to reduce my stash...  My intention was good because I have many  DROPS Nepal skeins in different colours at home but I found out the new tone "Blush" (which is so "me") and I couldn't resist myself.

Anyway, I am going to repeat the idea using the skeins I already have because I find  that  "Keep in Touch" mittens are a perfect Christmas gift so in the end I will also achieve my goal of reducing my stock.

Cinco DIY para hacer en Navidad / Five DIY to make for Christmas

Cuando te gustan las manualidades la época de Navidad es el momento perfecto para poner en prácticas ideas nuevas para aportar un toque personal a la decoración, la comida, los regalos... 

En realidad no es necesario hacer cosas muy complicadas para hacer algo diferente y como yo soy partidaria de hacer proyectos fáciles he seleccionado cinco DIY para hacer en Navidad que pueden hacerse bastante rápido.

When you like crafting Christmas time is the perfect moment to put into practice new ideas to customise the decoration, food, gifts...

Actually it is not necessary to make very difficult things to make something different and as I am in  favour of making easy projects I have chosen five DIY to make for Christmas that can be made quite quickly.

DIY - Candy Cane Cowl

El invierno pasado tejí un cuello de lana muy calentito con unos de los ovillos que compré en Fil&Tropia en Barcelona y como me parece un proyecto muy fácil de hacer he decidido compartirlo en el blog para que sirva de inspiración a quienes se hayan propuesto aprender a tejer el año que viene.

El nombre del patrón es porque el color de lana me recuerda a los típicos bastoncillos de caramelo de Navidad así que qué mejor momento para tejerlo que ahora.

Podéis encontrar toda la información para hacer vuestro propio Candy Cane Cowl  debajo de las fotos.

P.D: Una versión mini de un cuello de lana para niños/as

Last winter I knitted a very warm wool cowl with some of the balls I bough at  Fil&Tropia in Barcelona and as I think it is a very easy project I have decided to share it in the blog so it can serve as an inspiration for those who are decided to learn to knit next year.

The name of the pattern is because the colour of the wool reminds me of the typical Christmas sweets so what better moment to knit it than now.

P.S: A mini version of a wool cowl for kids

PATRÓN GRATUITO

Lana: 200 gr. de lana gruesa 7 - 8  mm en el color que más os guste (mejor en tonos rosas si queréis hacer honor al nombre del patrón)

Agujas: Agujas rectas de 9 mm

Puntos utilizados: Punto del derecho

Pasos:

• Montar 40 puntos (esta medida está pensada para llevar el cuello doblado así que si queréis que quede sólo una capa tendréis que montar menos puntos)
• Tejer en punto bobo durante 112 vueltas o las vueltas necesarias para alcanzar la medida que os guste 
• Cerrar todos los puntos
• Unir los dos extremos para formar el cuello

FREE PATTERN

Yarn: 200 gr. of  US 11 / 7-8 mm bulky yarn in the colour you like the most (it is better if you choose pink tones to honour the name of the pattern)

Needles: US 13 / 9 mm straight needles

Stitches used: Garter stitch

Steps:

• Cast on 40stitches (this measure is thought to wear the cowl folded so if you want to use it only in one layer you will have to cast on less stiches)
• Knit 112 rounds in garter stitch or as many rounds as you need to reach the measure you like 
• Cast off all the stitches
• Join both ends to form the cowl
