Garter Earflap Hat

Uno de los principales motivos por los que empecé a tejer es que quería hacer todos los proyectos de Purl Soho  y de vez en cuando reduzco un poco la lista haciendo alguno de sus maravillosos patrones.

Entre todas sus diseños mis favoritos son los de bebés así que cuando este invierno he tenido que tejer un gorrito de lana para un bebé el patrón "Garter Earflap Hat"  fue una de las primeras ideas que me vino a la cabeza.

La primera vez que tejí este gorrito fue para mi sobrina hace unos años y, aunque me gustó mucho cómo quedó entonces, en esta ocasión he cambiado un poco la versión utilizando unos ovillos de Katia Basic Merino  que tenía en mi "stash" y sustituyendo la borla por un pompón en color rojo, a petición de la mami del pequeñín.

La verdad es que tenía este patrón un poco en el olvido pero seguramente lo repetiré porque me parece el regalo perfecto para un bebé.

One of the main reasons why I started knitting is that I wanted to make all the projects from  Purl Soho and once in a while I cut down on the list by making one of their wonderful patterns.

Among all of their designs my favorites are the ones for babies so when this winter I had to knit a wool hat for a baby  "Garter Earflap Hat" pattern was one of the first ideas that came to my mind.

The first time I knitted this hat was for my niece some years ago and, although I liked a lot how it resulted then, in this occasion I changed the version a little bit by using some Katia Basic Merino skeins I had on my stash and by substituting the tassel for a red coloured pom pom, upon request of the mom of the ittle baby.

The truth is I had almost forgotten about this pattern but I will repeat for sure as I think it is the perfect gift for a baby.

Inspiración: 5 bolsos de ganchillo para hacer en verano / Inspiration: 5 crochet bags to make in summer

Si seguís mi blog os habréis dado cuenta de que últimamente estoy un poco "obsesionada" con los bolsos de ganchillo (primero fue el bolso de eccomin  y luego el famoso "Macaron Bag" ) así que me ha parecido buena idea hacer una selección de cinco bolsos de ganchillo para hacer en verano.

Entre los modelos que he elegido están las típicas bolsas de ir al mercado que nunca pasan de moda y  que ahora están más de actualidad que nunca, pero también he incluido una especie de bolso cesta que me ha encantado por su colorido.

La verdad es que cualquiera de ellos me parece el proyecto perfecto para hacer en verano y, si os apetece hacer vuestro propio bolso de ganchillo, no descartéis estos modelos porque la mayoría de ellos son de patrones gratuitos.

If you follow my blog you may have noticed that lately I am a little bit "obsessed" with crochet bags (first it was  eccomin's bag and later the famous  "Macaron Bag") so I thought it was a good a idea to make a selection of five crochet bags to make in summer.

Among the models I have chosen we can find the typical market bags which are never out of fashion and that are now more than ever a trend, but I have also included a sort of basket bag which I loved for it colours.

The truth is that I find any of them the perfect project to make during the summer and, if you want to make your own crochet bag, don't dismiss these models because most of them are free patterns.

Snow Tracks Cowl

Normalmente siempre utilizo las mismas marcas de lana para tejer y hacer ganchillo porque sé de antemano cuál va a ser el resultado. Sin embargo, también me gusta probar cosas nuevas y el ovillo de lana rosa de Yarn and Colors  que os enseñé el fin de semana pasado fue un claro ejemplo de flechazo al que no pude resistirme.

Mi idea inicial era hacer un gorro de lana como el "Big Wool Hat", pero justo mi último proyecto había sido el gorro "Take a Chance"  así que me apetecía cambiar un poco. Por otro lado no sé si estoy preparada para llevar un color rosa tan intenso en mi cabeza...

Así que... buscando ideas encontré el patrón "Snow Tracks Scarf" de Purl Soho y, además de encantarme la muestra de punto, me pareció que el nombre del patrón era el más adecuado para tejer en una semana de frío polar y nieve en las montañas. 

El resultado es mi Snow Tracks Cowl, un cuello de lana super calentito y suave que con ese color rosa tan bonito dan ganas de ponérmelo todos los días ♥

Usually I always use the same wool brands to knit and crochet because I already know which will be the result. However, I also like trying new things and the pink wool skein of  Yarn and Colors I showed you last weekend was a clear example of love at first sight which I couldn't resist myself to.

My original idea was to make a wool hat like the "Big Wool Hat", but my very last project had been the  "Take a Chance" hat so I wanted something different. On the other hand I don't know if I am ready to wear such a bright pink colour in my head...

So... looking for ideas I found the "Snow Tracks Scarf" pattern by  Purl Soho and, besides loving the knitting stitch, I found the name of the pattern was the most appropriate to knit in a week of freezing cold and snow in the mountains.

The result is my Snow Tracks Cowl, a very warm and soft wool cowl which with that beautiful pink colour makes me want to wear it everyday ♥

Take a Chance

Por fin puedo enseñaros el proyecto que he tejido con el ovillo de "Knit Collage " que compré en Purl Soho  en Nueva York, y como no podía ser de otra manera es un patrón de la misma marca, el gorro "Take a Chance ".

Como ya os he comentado en otras ocasiones, Knit Collage  es una de mis marcas de lana favoritas porque sus madejas son muy originales y muy diferentes a las demás. Además, todas sus variedades están fabricadas en un proceso totalmente artesanal en la India dando trabajo a mujeres especialmente formadas para ello, así que cada madeja es realmente especial.

En concreto me decanté por este patrón porque me cuesta imaginarme algo más perfecto que un gorro de lana gordita multicolor y de verdad que es tan especial que queda bien con todo.

Lo he terminado justo a tiempo para la ola de frío de estos días y no puedo estar más encantada porque además cada vez que lo lleve me va a recordar mi viaje a Nueva York.

I can finally show you the project I've knitted with the " Knit Collage" skein I bought at  Purl Soho in New York, and as it couldn't be any other away it is a pattern from the same brand, the " Take a Chance" hat.

As I have already said some times,  Knit Collage is one of my favorite wool brands as their skeins are very original and different to all the other ones. In addition, all of their varieties are produced under a completely handcrafted process in India employing women who were specially trained for it, so each skein is really special.

In particular I chose this pattern because I find it difficult to imagine something more perfect than a multicolour chunky wool hat and it really is so special that it matches with everything.

I have finished it just in time for the cold wave of these days and I can't be more delighted because every time I will wear it will remind me of my trip to New York.

En este mes no he tenido mucho tiempo para dedicarlo a mis labores pero poco a poco voy recuperando el ritmo y por fin  he podido empezar el proyecto para el que tenía reservada la madeja de "Knit Collage" que compré en Purl Soho en Nueva York.

De verdad, no os hacéis idea de las ganas que tenía de empezarlo y como se teje super rápido  en breve podré enseñaros el resultado.

Ánimo con lo que queda de semana...

During this month I didn't have much time for my crafts but little by little I am starting to recover my pace and finally I could start the project which I had reserved for the "Knit Collage" skein I bought at Purl Soho in New York.

Seriously, you just can't imagine how much I was looking forward to start  it and as it is knitted super fast soon I will show the result.

De compras en Nueva York / Shopping in New York - Purl Soho

He soñado con visitar Purl Soho desde que empecé a tejer. De hecho, aprendí a tejer porque quería hacer todos los patrones e ideas que veía en su Web.

Así que en mi viaje a Nueva York era visita obligada y una vez que estuve allí casi no podía creérmelo. Allí estaban su mural decorado con telas Liberty  en aros de bordar, sus estanterías llenas de madejas de colores, sus kits de labores...

Si por mi fuera me hubiera pasado todo el día en la tienda, viendo con calma cada madeja, tela, libro... y decidiendo qué comprar pero como no viajaba sola no podía ser. Así que en base a mi experiencia en otros viajes (en los que he visitado tiendas que me encantan sin ser capaz de decidir qué comprar) hice los "deberes" antes del viaje y preparé mi lista de la compra con antelación.

Puede parecer una tontería, pero a mí me resulta muy práctico. Por un lado tengo un montón de ovillos sin utilizar en casa y por otro no tengo mucho tiempo para tejer, así que no me apetecía comprar algo que se fuera a quedar almacenado indefinidamente. Por eso unos días antes del viaje eché un vistazo a su página, decidí qué diseño iba a hacer y anoté qué es lo que tenía que comprar y creo que es lo mejor que pude hacer.

Para ser sincera tenía claro desde el principio que iba a comprar algo de Knit Collage porque sus hilos son mis favoritos porque son muy especiales y aquí no es fácil encontrarlos así que tal y como era de esperar... una maravillosa madeja de Wanderlust se vino conmigo desde Nueva York y se va a transformar en algo muy muy chulo que además se teje súper rápido.

Eso sí, si algún día vuelvo intentaré escaparme sola para dedicar todo el tiempo del mundo a curiosear por la tienda...

I've dreamed of visiting Purl Soho since I started knitting. In fact, I learned to knit because I wanted to make all the patterns and ideas I saw on their Web.

So on my trip to New York it was a must visit and once I was there I couldn't really believe it. There they were their wall decorated with Liberty fabrics on embroidery hoops, their shelves full of colour skeins, their crafts kits...

If it was up to me I would have spent the whole day in the shop, calmly looking at each skein, fabric, book... and choosing what to buy but as I was not traveling alone it couldn't be. So basing on my experience from previous trips (where I have visited shops I love without being able to decide what to buy) I made my "homework" before the trip and I prepared a shopping list in advance.

It may seem a little bit silly, but for me it is really practical. On the one hand I have a lot of  unused balls at home and on the other hand I don't have much time to knit, so I didn't want to buy something that was going to be stashed indefinetely. That's why a couple of days before the trip I took a look at their Web, I decided what design to make and I wrote down what I had to buy and I think it was the best thing I could do.

To be honest I was quite sure since the beginning that I was going to buy something from  Knit Collage as their yarns are my favourites because they are very special and in Spain it is not easy to find them so as it was to expect... a wonderful skein of  Wanderlust came with  me from New York and it is going to become something really really cool which is also knitted very fast.

For sure, if I ever come back I will try to escape alone to spend as much time as I can nosing around the shop...

Cosas que me gustan / Things I like # 30 - Friendly Fair Isle Hat

El año acaba de empezar y yo no pierdo las buenas costumbres de recopilar cosas que me gustan.

Seguramente con sólo ver la foto del Friendly Fair Isle Hat  reconoceréis que es un patrón de Purl Soho, el diseño y los colores son muy característicos de sus creaciones.

En realidad es un gorro muy sencillo con un ligero toque de fair isle pero con esos colores flúor y el pompón a mí me tiene enamorada.

¿Se puede pedir más?

The year has just started and I don't loose the good habit of gathering things I like.

Probably only by seeing the picture of the Friendly Fair Isle Hat you will recognise it is a pattern from Purl Soho, the design and the colours are very characteristic of their creations.

It actually is a very simple hat with a slight touch of fair isle but with those neon colours and the pom pom I've fallen in love with it.

What else can we ask for?

Inspiración / Inspiration - Cozy at Home

No sé vosotros/as pero yo si tengo los pies fríos no consigo entrar en calor así que he hecho una pequeña búsqueda de zapatillas y calcetines de punto que me parecen el complemento perfecto para estar cómoda en casa.

Los diseños que he elegido son muy variados pero en concreto hay uno que me encanta así que supongo que tarde o temprano estará en mi lista de cosas por tejer.

¿Ya tenéis vuestro favorito?

I don't know about you but if my feet are cold I can't get warm so I've made a little research of knitted slippers and socks which I find the perfect accesory to be cozy at home.

The designs I've chosen are quite different but there is one that I specially like so I guess that sooner or later it will be on my things to knit list.

Cosas que me gustan / Things I like # 28 - Colorblock Bias Blanket by Purl Bee

Esta es una entrada que llevo queriendo hacer desde hace tiempo, pero me parecía demasiado publicar (otra vez) una manta en pleno verano.

Así que... como ya estamos oficialmente en campaña pre-otoñal es el momento perfecto para hablar de la maravillosa  Colorblock Bias Blanket  de Purl Bee.

La primera vez que la ví pensé que era una bufanda triangular (creo me despistaron las borlas de las esquinas) pero como manta resulta mucho más apetecible, dan unas ganas enormes de envolverse en ella. 

Obviamente es un proyecto que lleva bastante tiempo hacer pero se teje en punto bobo y eso siempre facilita la labor, al igual que tejer en colores diferentes.

Qué tendrán los diseños de Purl Bee que siempre me gustan tanto...

I've been willing to make this post a long time ago, but it just seemed too much to publish (again) a blanket in the height of summer.

So... as we are already officially in the pre-fall campaign it is the perfect moment to talk about the wonderful Colorblock Bias Blanket by Purl Bee.

The first time I saw it I thought it was a triangular scarf (I guess the tassels in the corners distracted me) but as a blanket it is much more appealing, it feels a lot like getting wrapped in it.

Obviously it is a project that takes a while to make but it is knitted in garter stitch and that always makes the work easier, as well as knitting in different colours.

What is there about Purl Bee  designs that I always like them so much...

Cosas que me gustan / Things I like # 26 - Mosaic Blanket by Purl Bee

Sé que estamos en verano y no es momento de empezar a pensar en mantas pero nunca es demasiado pronto para coger ideas para tejer este invierno.

Mi primera elección es la maravillosa Mosaic Blanket de Purl Bee por la originalidad de su diseño y su llamativo color rosa flúor (aunque el resto de sugerencias de color tampoco están nada mal...).

Además me parece muy interesante la técnica de mosaico, un motivo más para incluirla en mi lista de proyectos a realizar.

I know it's summertime and it is not the moment to start thinking in blankets but it is never too early to get ideas to knit this winter.

My first election is the wonderful Mosaic Blanket by Purl Bee for the originality of its design and its faboulous neon pink colour (although the other colour suggestions are not bad at all either...).

Furthermore I find the mosaic technique very interesanting, one more reason to include it on my to do projects list.

Bandana Cowl

Normalmente no suelo tejer cosas para chicos pero el año pasado ya os conté aquí que ellos también tienen frío así que este año también he hecho méritos y he tejido un cuello de lana para mi novio.

Tenía que ser algo discreto y fácil de poner (o corría el riego de que se quedara en el fondo del armario para siempre) por lo que me pareció que el patrón Bandana Cowl  de Purl Bee  era el proyecto perfecto.

El modelo es unisex así que para darle un toque masculino elegí un tono gris muy bonito de DROPS Nepal que lo hace muy ponible en los días de frío.

Me recuerda mucho al cuello L'Audacieuse que tejí para mí porque hace el mismo efecto por delante. De hecho me gusta la idea de que podamos ir casi conjuntados con nuestros cuellos de lana.

Como muchos de los proyectos de Purl Bee  el patrón es gratuito y es muy fácil y rápido de hacer, así que si os gusta aún estáis a tiempo de tejer vuestro propio cuello de lana para el Día del Padre.


I usually don't knit things for men but last year I already told you here that they are cold too so this year I've gained some recognition by knitting a wool cowl for my boyfriend.

It had to be something unflashy and easy to wear (otherwise it would lay forever at the end of the wardrobe) so I thought that  Purl Bee Bandana Cowl pattern was the perfect project.

The design is unisex so to add a masculine touch I chose a very nice grey tone by DROPS Nepal which makes it totally wearable in cold weather.

It reminds me a lot to  L'Audacieuse cowl that I knitted for myself because they make the same effect in the front. In fact I like the idea that we can wear almost matching wool cowls.

As many projects from  Purl Bee the pattern is available for free and it is very easy and quick to make, so if you like it you are still on time to knit your own wool cowl for Father's Day.

Garter Ear Flap Hat

Hace casi un año os hablaba aquí del Garter Ear Flap Hat de Purl Bee y esta Navidad ha sido uno de los regalos que he tejido para mi sobrina Nora.

Siempre digo que hacer cosas para bebés es una gozada y es que es genial lo rápido que se teje y lo mono que queda todo en pequeñito.

Mi sobrina no es muy fan de los gorros pero la verdad es que el gorro le queda muy bien y parece un pequeño duendecillo cuando lo lleva, así que creo que me quedan muchos gorros por hacer...

Almost one year ago I told you here about Purl Bee's Garter Ear Flap Hat and this Christmas it was one of the gifts I knitted for my niece Nora.

I always say that making things for babies is a joy and that's because it is great how fast things are knitted and how cute they look in small sizes.

My niece is not a great fan of hats but the truth is that the hat looks really well on her and she seems a little pixie when she wears it, so I think I have a lot of hats to make...

Cosas que me gustan / Things I like # 17 - Boxy Tee

Ahora que empieza a hacer calor no hay nada mejor que llevar una camisa amplia como la  Boxy Tee  que nos sugieren desde Purl Bee.

En un color neutro con un toque de amarillo flúor me parece la camisa ideal para combinar con casi todo.

Now that the weather is getting warmer there's nothing better than wearing a wide shirt like the  Boxy Tee suggested by  Purl Bee.

In a neutral colour with a touch of neon yellow I find it the perfect shirt to match with almost everything.

Mis DIY favoritos / My favorite DIYs #11 - Liberty Baby Bibs

Realmente este es uno de mis DIY favoritos (es la tercera vez que aparece en el blog), así que tenía que hacer unos  Liberty Baby Bibs  de Purl Bee  para Nora.

Me gusta elegir siempre telas con estampados muy alegres y coloridos para que sean diferentes a los baberos que se ven normalmente.

¿No os parece un regalo muy práctico y bonito?

This is really one of my favorite DIYs (it's the third time I talk about it on the blog), so I had to make some  Purl Bee  Liberty Baby Bibs   for Nora.

I always like to choose very lively and colourful pattern fabrics so the bibs are different to normal bibs.

Cosas que me gustan / Things I like # 9 - Liberty Coin Purses

Una vez más Purl Bee  da en el clavo y nos propone algo sencillo pero muy especial, los bonitos  Liberty Coin Purses.

Me gustan porque tienen un toque de abuelita pero al mismo tiempo son muy actuales.

Si tuviera que elegir no sabría con cual quedarme, me gustan todos.

Once more  Purl Bee hits the target and proposes something simple but very special, the pretty  Liberty Coin Purses.

I like them because of they have a granny style but at the same time they are very up to date.

If I had to choose I wouldn't know which one to elect, I like them all.

Mis DIY favoritos / My favorite DIYs # 8 - Chocolate Bar Coasters

Uno de los primeros proyectos de punto que hice fueron unos posavasos de lana que vi en  Purl Bee  y que tenían un nombre muy atrayente: Chocolate Bar Coasters.

En principio eran un regalo para una amiga amante del chocolate pero me gustaron tanto que hice otro juego para mí.

Son el toque perfecto para una tarde de otoño y chocolate caliente...

  

One of the first knitting projects I made were some wool coasters I saw on  Purl Bee  which had a very attracting name:  Chocolate Bar Coasters.

At first it was a gift for a friend who is a chocolate lover but I liked them that much I made another set for me.

They are the perfect touch to an autumn and hot chocolate evening...

Craft Books ♥ 1 - More Last Minute Knitted Gifts

Me encantan los libros de manualidades. Aunque no siempre tengo tiempo para hacer los proyectos que proponen sigo comprándolos sólo por el placer de ver todo lo que se puede hacer.

Uno de los primeros libros que compré fue "More Last Minute Knitted Gifts" de Joelle Hoverson fundadora de Purl Soho y espíritu creativo de Purl Bee.

El libro incluye 30 proyectos de punto de estilo muy variado distribuyéndolos en capítulos en función del tiempo que se tarda en hacerlos (menos de 2 horas, de 2 a 4 horas, de 4 a 6 horas, de 6 a 8 horas y más de 8 horas).

Puede parecer una tontería, pero es algo muy práctico ya que evita que nos embarquemos en proyectos interminables que nunca terminaremos a tiempo.

I love craft books. Even though I rarely have time to make all the projects included I keep buying them just for the pleasure of taking a look to all the things that can be done. 

One of the first books I bought was "More Last Minute Knitted Gifts" by Joelle Hoverson founder of Purl Soho and creative spirit of  Purl Bee.

The book includes 30 knitting projects of different styles distributed in chapters according to the time needed to make them (less tan 2 hours, from 2 to 4 hours, from 4 to 6 hours, from 6 to 8 hours and more tan 8 hours).

It may sound silly but it is quite practical as you can avoid starting a neverending project that will be never finished on time.

El primer proyecto que me animé a hacer fue una cestita cuadrada y resultó más sencillo de lo que en un principio parecía.

The first project I made was a squared basket and it was a lot easier than it seemed at first.

Otra propuesta que me encanta es la bufanda big lace. Al hacerse con agujas gordas se termina super rápido y el patrón a seguir no es para nada monótono.

Another proposal that I love is big lace scarf. It is finished super fast as it is made with chunky needles and the pattern is not boring at all.

También se incluyen muchos proyectos para niños, como esta manta tan bonita lleva en mi lista de cosas por hacer desde que la ví.

It also includes a lot of projects for children, like this pretty baby blanket that is on my to do list since I first saw it.

Además el libro muestra algunas ideas para empaquetar nuestras creaciones y sorprender a todo el mundo, como esta decoración con restos de lana que ya recogí en mi post sobre el arte de empaquetar.
