Delphinus

 

Después de casi dos meses he terminado el jersey "Delphinus"  de Aurélie Texier  publicado en el número 34 de Pom Pom Quarterly.

Tal y como me imaginaba justo antes de empezar a tejerlo, al ser un patrón diseñado para un hilo fino me ha llevado bastante tiempo hacerlo.

En mi caso he utilizado una mezcla de la ya desaparecida DROPS Lace  que tenía en mi "stash" junto con unos ovillos DROPS Brushed Alpaca Silk que compré especialmente para tejer el jersey y no puedo estar más contenta con el resultado.

Realmente ha habido momentos en los que pensaba que no iba a acabar nunca pero creo que el esfuerzo ha merecido la pena y, aunque probablemente tendré que esperar hasta el otoño que viene para ponérmelo, estoy segura de que se va a convertir en uno de mis jerséis favoritos.

After almost two months I have finished the "Delphinus" pullover by  Aurélie Texier published in issue number 34 of  Pom Pom Quarterly.

Just as I imagined right before start knitting it, as it is a pattern designed for a thin yarn it has taken me quite a  while to make it.

In my case I have used a mix of the already extinguished  DROPS Lace I had in my stash together with some DROPS Brushed Alpaca Silk I bought specially to knit the pullover and I can't be happier with the result.

Honestly there were some moments when I thought I was never going to finish but I think the effort was worth it and, although I will probably have to wait until next autumn to wear it, I am sure it is going to become one of my favorite sweaters.

Al final de verano decidí suscribirme de nuevo a  la revista Pom Pom Quarterly  porque echaba mucho de menos recibir sus publicaciones en mi buzón.

El motivo principal porque el que me di de baja hace dos años es porque no tengo tiempo para hacer tantos proyectos pero, aunque sigo sin tener tiempo, en realidad es más que una revista de patrones y leer sus artículos es siempre fuente de inspiración.

De momento (y hasta que termine algunas cosas que tengo en proceso) me limitaré a ponerme al día con sus lecturas interesantes y a seleccionar mis diseños favoritos para futuros proyectos.

At the end of summer I decided to subscribe me again to  Pom Pom Quarterly magazine because I missed a lot receiving their issues in my mailbox.

The main reason why I unsubscribed two years ago was that I don't have time to make so many projects but, althouhg I still have no time, actually it is more than a pattern magazine and reading their articles is always a source of inspiration.

At the moment (and until I finish some things I have in progress) I will restrict myself to being up to date with their interesting readings and to choose my favorite designs for future projects.

Water Clover

 

A principios de verano empecé a ganchillear  el top "Water Clover" de Isa Catepillán y, salvo por un "pequeño" detalle, puedo decir que está terminado y listo para estrenar.

Ese detalle es en realidad un error de principiante que hace que sea imposible que me lo pueda poner porque es demasiado pequeño.

Mientras lo iba haciendo empecé a sospechar que, a lo mejor, el resultado no iba a ser el que yo esperaba pero no tenía suficiente hilo para hacerlo más grande así que decidí terminarlo con la esperanza de que al bloquearlo "creciera" un poquito.

La verdad es que no sabría decir si el problema fue que escogí una talla pequeña, el hilo no era el adecuado o el tamaño de la aguja era demasiado pequeño. Igual fue una combinación de las tres cosas y que no hice la muestra...

En cualquier caso, no voy a poder ponérmelo pero mi idea es repetir el patrón con las medidas correctas porque me gusta mucho el diseño y creo que merece una segunda oportunidad.

At the beginning of summer I started crocheting  "Water Clover" top by Isa Catepillan and, except for a "small" detail, I can say that it is finished and ready to wear.

That detail is actually a beginner's mistake that makes it impossible for me to wear it as it is too small.

While I was making it I started to imagine that, maybe, the result was not going to be what I expected but I didn't have enough yarn to make it bigger so I decided to finish it hoping that it would "grow" a litte bit with the blocking.

In fact I couldn't say whether the problem was that I chose a small size, the yarn was not appropriate or the size of the hook was too small. Maybe it was a combination of all three things and that I didn't make the swatch...

Anyway, I won't be able to wear it but my idea is to repeat the pattern with the correct measures because I like the design a lot and I think it deserves a second chance.

En mi publicación anterior os hablaba de prendas de punto para hacer en verano y ahora os cuento cuál es la primera que he escogido, el top "Water Clover"   de Isa Catepillán.

Es un modelo del número 28 de Pom Pom Quarterly  y es de la misma diseñadora que la chaqueta "Davallia"   que hice el año pasado, así que me parece el patrón perfecto para hacer este verano.

Además, voy a utilizar un hilo de algodón que tenía en mi "stash" sin ninguna finalidad concreta así que con este proyecto también contribuyo a mi propósito de ser más sostenible dando uso a ovillos que ya tengo.

Sólo espero terminarlo a tiempo para estrenarlo antes de que llegue el otoño...

On my previous post I told you about knit garments to make in summer and now I tell you which is the first I have chosen, "Water Clover" top by  Isa Catepillán.

It is a design from the issue 28 of  Pom Pom Quarterly and it is from the same designer as the  "Davallia" cardigan I made last year, so it seems the perfect pattern to make this summer.

Furthermore, I am going to use a cotton yarn I had in my stash without any specific aim so with this project I am also contributing to my resolution of being more sustainable by using skeins I already have.

I just hope to finish it on time to wear it before autumn arrives...

Mis DIY favoritos / My favorite DIYs # 29 - Retro Style Knit Turban

Si te gustan los turbantes de lana de estilo "retro" y sabes hacer punto, te va a encantar este DIY de Marie Claire Idées.

Lejos de lo que pueda parecer es un accesorio muy fácil de tejer y a mí me encanta como alternativa a los clásicos gorros de lana.

Es cierto que las instrucciones están en francés pero con la ayuda del traductor de Google  no hay excusa para no animarse a tejerlo.

¿Quién se apunta a dar un toque chic  a los días fríos?

If you like retro style wool turbans and you can knit, you are going to love this DIY from  Marie Claire Idées.

Far from what it can seem it is a very easy to knit accesory and I love it as an alternative to classic wool hats.

It is true that the instructions are written in French but with the help of  Google translate there is no excuse to be willing to knit it.

Davallia by Isa Catepillán

Tal y como os adelantaba a principios de agosto, he terminado el jersey  Davallia  diseñado por  Isa Catepillán.

Desde el principio fue el patrón que más me llamó la atención del número de primavera de Pom Pom  y aunque he tardado casi dos meses en terminarlo, ha merecido la pena porque es realmente una prenda muy especial.

Como me gustaba mucho, quería conseguir un acabado lo más parecido posible al original (pero a un precio más asequible) así que opté por unos ovillos de DROPS Belle con mezcla de algodón, viscosa y lino que sabía que quedarían genial para darle ese aire rústico que tiene el diseño original de Isa Catepillán.

En cuanto a la talla, me decidí por la opción más pequeña del patrón porque tenía miedo de que me quedara demasiado grande y creo que he acertado con mi elección porque, aunque no es tan largo como en las fotos originales, tiene el tamaño perfecto para mí.

Por suerte todavía quedan algunos días de verano así que intentaré hacerme alguna foto con el jersey puesto para enseñaros lo bonito que queda.

As I already told you in advance at the beginning of august, I have finished  Davallia cardigan designed by  Isa Catepillán.

Since the beginning it was the pattern which grabbed my attention the most from the spring issue of  Pom Pom and although it has taken me almost two months to finish it, it is worth it because it really is a very special garment.

As I liked it a lot, I wanted it to look as similar to the original as possible (at a more affordable price though) so I chose some  DROPS Belle skeins with a mix of cotton, viscose and linen which I already knew that would be great to add the rustic touch of  Isa Catepillan's original design.

With regard to the size, I decided to make the smallest one from the pattern as I was afraid that it would be to big for me and I think I took the right decision because, although it is not as long as in the original pictures, it is the perfect size for me.

Luckily there are still some summer days left so I will try to take a picture of me wearing the cardigan so I can show you how pretty it looks.

Inspiración / Inspiration: Siwoo in Paris

Si hay alguien que piensa que el bordado es algo antiguo es porque todavía no conoce a Siwoo in Paris  a quien descubrí gracias a Instagram  y que nunca deja de sorprenderme con la genialidad de su trabajo.

Para mí el bordado sigue siendo una de mis asignaturas pendientes, así que cuando veo sus fotos me quedo maravillada con la precisión de las puntadas y con cada minúsculo detalle de la labor.

La verdad es que me encanta todo lo que hace pero... no puedo negar que mi debilidad son los bordados que hacen referencia a las películas de Wes Anderson  y me encantaría decorar mi casa con alguno de ellos (o todos, en realidad...).

If someone thinks that embroidery is somehting old fashioned is because they still don't know  Siwoo in Paris whom I discovered via  Instagram and who never ceases to amaze me with her great work.

For me embroidery is still one of my unfinished businesses, so when I see her pictures I am delighted by the precision of the stitches and by each tiny detail of the piece.

To be honest I love everything she does but... I can deny that my soft spot are the embroideries representing  Wes Anderson films and I would love to decorate my house with one of them (or all of them, really...).

Pom Pom Quarterly - Spring 2019

Ahora que ya es oficialmente primavera me parece el momento perfecto para hablar del último numero de la revista Pom Pom.

Recibí la revista hace unas semanas pero me parecía demasiado pronto para pensar en proyectos de primavera así que he tenido tiempo de estudiarla a fondo y ahora ya tengo claro cuál es mi diseño favorito, el patrón "Davallia"  de Isa Catepillán.

En realidad no me costó mucho decidirme porque me encantó desde el principio y, aunque todavía tengo que terminar algunas cositas antes de empezarlo, ya tengo unos ovillos de DROPS Belle  listos para empezar a ganchillear sin parar.

¿No os parece maravilloso?


Now that it is officially spring I think it is the perfect moment to talk about the last issue of  Pom Pom magazine.

I received the magazine a couple of weeks ago but I thought it was too early to start thinking about spring projects so I have had some time to study it deeply and now I am clear about which one is my favorite, "Davallia" pattern by  Isa Catepillán.

Actually it didn't took me too much to decide it because I loved it since the beginning and, although I still have to finish a couple of things before starting it, I already have some  DROPS Belle skeins ready for non-stop crocheting.

Últimamente estoy un poco desaparecida pero sigo trabajando en mis proyectos y ya casi estoy a punto de terminar mi última labor del invierno, el jersey Garland.

La verdad es que no podría decir cuánto estoy tardando en tejerlo porque lo he alternado con otros trabajos. Pensaba que se me iba a hacer un poco largo y pesado pero al final no ha sido así y lo he tejido casi sin enterarme.

Ahora mismo sólo me queda por terminar una manga y el cuello así que con un poco de suerte dentro de muy poco podré enseñaros el resultado.

Lately I've been kind of missing but I keep working on my projects and I am almost about to finish my las winter piece, the  Garland sweater.

To be honest I coulnd't say how much time it is taking me to knit it because I have made it in turns with other works. I thought it would be a little bit lengthy and boring but at the end it wasn't like that and I have knitted it almost whithoug realizing it.

Right now I only have to finish one sleeve and the neck so luckily I could show you the result shortly.

Inspiración / Inspiration: Laine Magazine

Creo que fue este verano cuando descubrí la revista Laine  y desde entonces no dejo de maravillarme con cada uno de los patrones que publican.

Por un lado sueño con tejer sus diseños con esas lanas tan increíbles pero sus fotos también me transmiten una sensación tan agradable que sólo me dan ganas de abrigarme con gorro y bufanda y salir a disfrutar de la naturaleza.

Ya tengo algunos patrones favoritos así que me imagino que tarde o temprano terminarán en mis agujas, sólo espero no tardar demasiado en  empezar a tejerlos...

I think that it was last summer when I discovered  Laine magazine and since then I can't stop being amazed by every single pattern they publish.

On one side I dream of knitting their designs with that wonderful yarn but their pictures also inspire me such a cozy feeling that all I want to do is wrap myself with a hat and a scarf and go out and enjoy nature.

I already have some favorites so I guess that they will end on my needles sooner or later,  I just hope it won't take me too long to start knitting them...

Hace cuatro años, descubrí por casualidad pom pom quarterly y me enamoré del jersey que aparecía en la portada su número de invierno de 2013.

Fue un auténtico flechazo y, además de la revista, enseguida compré los ovillos necesarios para tejerlo pero año tras año lo he ido postponiendo hasta que este otoño por fin he empezado a tejer el jersey Garland  de Stefanie Pollmeier  con el que tanto he soñado.

Después de tanto tiempo en mi lista de proyectos por hacer lo he cogido con muchas ganas y, aunque también vaya haciendo otros proyectos más cortos al mismo tiempo, sigo avanzando poco a poco y me encanta porque tejer con mohair es una maravilla.

Os seguiré informando de mis avances...

Four years ago, by chance I discovered  pom pom quarterly and I fell in love with the sweater that appeared in the cover of their winter issue of 2013.

It really was love at first sight and, besides the magazine, I inmediately bought the necessary skeins to knit it but year after year I've been postponing it until this Autumn I finally started knitting  Garland sweater by  Stefanie Pollmeir which I have dreamed so much of.

After so much time on my projects to-do list I have started with enthusiasm and, although I will be also making some shorter projects at the same time, I keep progressing little by little and I love it because knitting  wiht mohair is so wonderful.

I will keep you informed with my progresses...

Pom Pom Quarterly - Summer 2018

Hoy es mi cumpleaños y siguiendo con la tradición de los últimos años he renovado mi suscripción anual de Pom Pom Quarterly  para poder disfrutar de mi autoregalo durante todo el año.

Cada vez que me llega un nuevo número es una alegría en el buzón y, aunque no tenga mucho tiempo y vaya a mi ritmo, poco a poco voy haciendo algunos de los patrones que más me gustan.

La semana pasada recibí la edición de verano y ya sé que siempre digo lo mismo pero... este número me encanta porque está dedicado a las prendas de rayas que nunca faltan en mi armario.

Por el momento mis diseños favoritos son los patrones Riley  de Amy Christoffers  y Tarmac  de Anna Maltz  así que espero que dentro de poco uno de los dos esté en mis agujas...

Today is my birthday and continuing with the tradition of the last few years I have renewed my annual subscription to  Pom Pom Quarterly so I can enjoy my self- gift along the year.

Every time I receive a new issue it is a joy in the mailbox and, although I don't have much time and I follow my own rythm , little by little I get to make the patterns I like the most.

Last week I received the summer edition and I know that I always say the same thing but... I love this issue because it is all about striped garments which never fail to be in my wardrobe.

By the moment my favorite designs are  Riley by  Amy Chistoffers and  Tarmac by  Anna Maltz  patterns so I hope that one of them will be on my needles soon...

Pom Pom Quarterly - Spring 2018

Desde que recibí el último número de Pom Pom  el viernes pasado no he parado de darle vueltas a qué proyecto hacer...

Como siempre quiero hacer todos los patrones pero he preferido escoger algo rápido de tejer para que no me pille el verano con la lana todavía en las agujas.

De momento llevo muy poco tejido pero me encanta cómo está quedando y espero poder enseñaros pronto el resultado.

Since I received the last issue of  Pom Pom last friday I haven't stopped thinking about what project to make...

As usual I want to make all the patterns but I have preferred to choose something quick to knit so I don't begin the summer with the wool still on my needles.

I have knitted very little so far but I love how it looks and I hope to show you the result very soon.

En mi resumen del mes de mayo os contaba que este año por mi cumpleaños mi autoregalo ha sido renovar la suscripción a la revista Pom Pom Quarterly y es que me encanta encontrarla en mi buzón cada tres meses.

Normalmente no tengo tiempo para hacer todos los proyectos que se incluyen en cada número pero poco a poco los voy añadiendo a mi lista y sé que en algún momento me conseguiré terminar algunos. 

La verdad es que sólo con hojear las páginas ya soy feliz.

On my monthly roundup for the month of May I told you that this year for my birthday my self-gift was renewing my subscription to Pom Pom Quarterly magazine just because I love finding it on my mailbox every three months.

Usually I don't have time to make all the projects included in each issue but little by little I am adding them to my list and I know that at some time I will be able to finish some of them.

The truth is that I am already happy just glancing through the pages.
