Pequeños caprichos confesables / Little confessable whims - Fauna y Flora

Desde que empecé el blog os he hablado varias veces de Fauna y Flora (es una de mis tiendas favoritas de Etsy, os la recomendaba para hacer regalos hechos a mano y también como inspiración de Movember) pero curiosamente todavía no tenía nada de ellos, algo a lo que ya he puesto remedio porque este año los Reyes Magos me han sorprendido con una de sus preciosas creaciones.

En realidad estaba claro que este año estábamos predestinados a encontrarnos porque a mí encanta todo lo que lleva estrellitas y su última colección está inspirada en los astros.

Ahora sí que puedo decir que soy una auténtica fan de Fauna y Flora.

Since I started the blog I've told you several times about Fauna y Flora (it is one of my favorite Etsy shops, I recommended it for handmade gifts and as an inspiration for Movember) but strangely I still didn't have anything from them, something I have already solved because this year the Three Wise Men have surprised me with one of their pretty creations.

Actually it was clear that this year we were ment to find each other because I love anything that includes little stars and their latest collections is inspired in celestial bodies.

Now I can say for sure that I am a real fan of  Fauna y Flora.

Pequeños caprichos confesables / Little confessable whims - "La vida es una verbena" de Lucía Be

Mi último capricho ha sido "La vida es una verbena", un libro muy divertido en el que Lucía Be relata aventuras de su vida virtual y real y da algunos consejos para vivir con estilo y alegría.

El libro me llegó ayer en un paquete tan ideal que me daba pena abrirlo (podéis verlo aquí) y con una dedicatoria preciosa de Lucía. 

Por ahora sólo he tenido tiempo hojearlo un poco pero me he sentido identificada con muchas de las cosas que he leído y me ha transmitido mucha alegría y positivismo, así que creo que se va a convertir en mi lectura favorita del verano.

My latest whim is "La vida es una verbena", a very funny book where Lucia Be relates adventures from her virtual and real life and gives a piece of advice for a stylish and happy living.

I received the book yesterday in such a beautiful packaging that I felt sad opening it (you can see it here) and with a pretty dedication from Lucia.

By now I have only had time to leaf through it a little bit but I've felt myself identified with many of the things I've read and it gave me a lot of joy and positivism, so I think it is going to become my favorite summer reading.

Pequeños caprichos confesables / Little confessable whims - Debbie Bliss "Milano"

Tengo debilidad por las lanas multicolores así que cuando descubrí esta lana tan especial de Debbie Bliss no pude resistirme a comprarla.

Todavía no tengo muy claro qué voy a hacer con ella pero creo que debería ser algo sencillo para resaltar la peculiaridad de la lana.

De momento la he añadido a mi reserva hasta que encuentre el proyecto perfecto, sólo es cuestión de tiempo...

I have a soft spot for variegated yarn so when I came accross this special yarn from Debbie Bliss I couldn't resist myself to buying it.

I am still not sure what I will make with it but I think it should be something simple in order to highlight the peculiarity of the yarn.

For the moment I have added it to my stash until I find the perfect project, it is only a matter of time...

Pequeños caprichos confesables / Little confessable whims: El Costurero Magazine

Hacía tiempo que no os mostraba mis caprichos, aunque los sigo teniendo en gran cantidad y variedad. 

Mi última pequeña tentación ha sido El Costurero Magazine una revista de manualidades que conocía por las redes sociales pero que hasta ahora nunca había comprado.

La semana pasada lanzaron una promoción en la que se podían conseguir los números 4 y 5 a un precio especial, así que me pareció el momento perfecto para conocerla en primera persona.

Además de las revistas añadí a mi pedido un kit de costura para hacer un estuche craft porque no pude resistirme al estampado de la tela (¡es una preciosidad!).

Este fin de semana he podido leer las dos revistas con detenimiento y me han encantado por la variedad y calidad de los contenidos. Incluye artículos de todo tipo: entrevistas a creadores, recetas de cocina, tutoriales variados, tendencias, etc...

Creo que he encontrado una nueva fuente de inspiración...

It's been a longtime since I last showed you my whims, although I still have many and different ones .

My last temptation is  El Costurero Magazine a crafts magazine that I already knew by social networks but that until now I have never bought before.

Last week they launched a special price offer for their issues number 4 and 5, so I thought it was the perfect moment to know the magazine in first person.

In addition to the magazines I also bought a craft case sewing kit because I just couldn't resist myself to the pattern of the fabric (it's so pretty!)

This weekend I had time to read both issues in depth and I loved them for the variety and quality of the contents. They include different types of contents: interviews with crafters, cooking recipes, assorted tutorials, trends, etc...

I think I've found a new inspiration source...

Pequeños caprichos confesables: Semillero de Protea / Little confessable whims: Protea seedbed

Como ya os conté aquí, el año pasado estuve de vacaciones en Sudáfrica y una de las cosas que más me gustaron fue una flor típica de allí, la Protea.

Es una flor muy grande y muy peculiar (parece una alcachofa) pero me encanta, así que compré unas semillas para intentar cultivar mi propio jardín de Proteas.

La época para sembrarlas es antes de que empiece el otoño, así que esta semana voy a plantar mis semillas y aunque tengo muy mala mano con las plantas voy a hacer todo lo posible para que sobrevivan (se aceptan consejos y sugerencias).

As I already told you here, last year I was in South Africa for holidays and one of the things I liked them most was a native flower, Protea.

It is a very big and peculiar flower (it seems and artichoke) but I love it so I bought some seeds to try to grow my own Protea garden.

The right time to seed them is before Autumn, so this week I will plant my seeds and although I don't have a green thumb I will make my best to make them survive (all recommendations and suggestions are welcome).

Pequeños caprichos confesables / Little confessable whims: Pom Pom quarterly

Cuando a principios de mayo descubrí la revista Pom Pom quarterly  fue un auténtico flechazo, así que no pude resistirme a comprar el número de verano 2014.

Hoy, por fin, lo he recibido y al abrir el sobre ha sido genial ver lo bonito que era el embalaje con pegatina de agradecimiento personalizada. A mí estas tonterías me pueden, así que no me puede gustar más...

En breve prometo un post con más detalle sobre  Pom Pom  porque merece la pena.

When at the beginning of May I discovered  Pom Pom quarterly magazine it was love at first sight, so I couldn't resist myself buying the Summer 2014 issue.

Today, at last, I received it and when I've opened the envelope it was great to see how pretty the packaging was with a customised thank you sticker. I love these silly things, so I just can't like it more...

I promise a more detailed post about  Pom Pom shortly because it is worth it.

Pequeños caprichos confesables: 300 ideas de punto de cruz / Little confessable whims: 300 cross stitch ideas

Este ha sido mi último capricho, el kit "300 ideas de punto de cruz" de DMC.

Hasta ahora no me había planteado hacer punto de cruz porque no encontraba diseños que me gustaran los suficiente,  pero ahora se me han ocurrido un montón de ideas en las que aplicar estos diseños tan monos.

Creo que este es el comienzo de una larga amistad ♥


This is my latest whim, the  "300 cross stitch ideas" by DMC  kit.

Until now I had never thought of cross stitching because I didn't find any design I liked enough, but now a lot of ideas of where to use this cute designs come to my mind.

I think this is the beginning of  a long friendship  ♥

Pequeños caprichos confesables / Little confessable whims: Veo Veo Magazine

El viernes al volver a casa del trabajo me encontré con una sorpresa muy agradable en mi buzón: el último número de la revista Veo Veo Magazine  (que venía con regalito incluido: una preciosa aguja de ganchillo de yoypunto  y un carnet del Club Veo Veo ).

 

Decidí suscribirme a principios de febrero porque me había quedado con pena de que no hubiera salido adelante su iniciativa de crowdfunding  para el movimiento manos inquietas.

 

Así que, este fin de semana he aprovechado para leerla con calma y he cogido un montón de ideas de proyectos que algún día me gustaría hacer.

 

Ya estoy deseando que llegue el mes de mayo para recibir el siguiente número...

 

 

Last friday when I came back home from work I found a very nice surprise in my mailbox: the last issue of  Veo Veo Magazine (which included a nice little gift: a beautiful crochet hook from yoypunto and a membership card for the  Club Veo Veo ).

 

I decided to subscribe at the beginning of february as I was I little sad that their crowdfunding initiative for  movimiento manos inquietas didn't get ahead.

 

So, this weekend I have enjoyed reading it carefully and I got a lot of ideas of projects I would love to make someday.

 

I am already looking forward to May so I can have the next issue...

 

 

 

 

 

Pequeños caprichos confesables: agenda Moleskine / Little confessable whims: Moleskine diary

 

Uno de mis rituales de obligado cumplimiento cada año es estrenar una agenda Moleskine,

 

Descubrí la marca cuando vivía en Italia (allá por el 2003) gracias a mi amiga Maria Giulia y desde entonces para mí no existe otra agenda.

 

Mi modelo favorito es el de planificación semanal en tamaño bolsillo, ni muy grande ni muy pequeña. Ahora desde que las hacen de colores cada año me doy el gusto de elegir uno diferente.

 

Este año la he elegido en un color amarillo precioso (uno de mis colores favoritos) y ya estoy lista para afrontar el año!

(El lápiz que aparece en la foto lo compré en una tienda Liberty en Edimburgo hace como un trillón de años, así que le tengo mucho cariño y apenas lo uso. Ya os hablaré otro día de mi pasión por los artículos de papelería…)

 

One of my yearly mandatory rituals is to have a new Moleskine diary.

I discovered this brand when I lived in Italy (as far back as 2003) thanks to my friend Maria Giulia and since then there's no other diary for me.

My favorite model is the pocked size daily planner, nor too big nor too small. Now since they make them in different colours I give myself the treat of choosing a different colour each year.

This year I have chosen a beautiful yellow colour (one of my favorite colours) and now I am ready to face this year!

(I bought the pencil that appears in the picture at a Liberty shop in Edinburgh something like a trillion years ago, so I’m very fond of it and I hardly use it. Someday I will tell you about my love for stationery...)
