Happy (Crafting) Weekend

Hace mucho que no tejo algo para mí así que he cogido con muchas ganas unos de los ovillos que compré en Barcelona y ya tengo casi terminado lo que será un cuello de lana muy calentito.

En breve os enseñaré el resultado con patrón gratuito de regalo.

It's been a long time since I last knitted something for me so I took eagerly some of the skeins I bought in Barcelona and I have almost finished what will be a very warm wool cowl.

Shortly I will show you the result with the free pattern as a gift.

Peppa Pig amigurumi

Hace unas semanas fue el cumpleaños de mi sobrina Nora y uno de los regalos que le hice fue una Peppa Pig de amigurumi porque está en esa fase en la que le encanta todo lo relacionado con la famosa cerdita.

En Internet hay varios páginas con las instrucciones pero yo escogí el patrón de Taller de Maó porque me gustó mucho como quedaba Peppa en las fotos. Además el patrón es gratuito y eso siempre es de agradecer.

Mi sobrina se sorprendió mucho al ver a Peppa, pero le pareció que estaba muy sola así que ya me veo haciendo el resto de personajes...

A couple of weeks ago it was my niece's Nora birthday and one of the gifts I had for her was an amigurumi Peppa Pig because she is in that stage where she loves anything related to the famous little pig.

In the Internet you can find several sites with the instructions but I chose Taller de Maó pattern because I liked a lot how Peppa looked in the pictures. In addition the pattern is available for free and that is something to be thankful for (the pattern is written in Spanish only, sorry).

My niece was very surprised to see Peppa but she thought it was a little bit lonely so I guess I will end up making all the characters... 

Inspiración: Mantas XXL / Inspiration: XXL blankets

En plena ola de frío estoy segura de que no soy la única que sueña con pasar el día bajo una manta de lana gruesa así que es el momento perfecto para hablar de las mantas de punto XXL, una de las últimas tendencias en decoración.

Salen en todos los blogs y revistas de decoración y puede que sean un capricho o una moda pasajera consecuencia del estilo nórdico pero a mí me parecen maravillosas, tan suaves y agradables.

Además, a mí como tejedora me llaman mucho la atención porque no me imagino cómo tiene que ser tejer una manta con agujas gigantes y un ovillo de lana enorme. 

Me encantaría probarlo...

In the middle of a cold wave I am sure I am not the only one dreaming of spending the day under a chunky wool blanket so it is the perfect moment to talk about XXL knitted blankets, one of the latest trends in home decor.

They appear in all the blogs and magazines about decoration and they might be a whim or a passing fashion consequence of nordic style but I find them marvelous, so soft and nice.

In addition, as a knitter I am very attracted by them because I can't imagine how it must be to knit a blanket with giant needles and a huge wool skein.

I would love to try it...

Pelele de tirantes / Baby romper

La semana pasada os enseñé el muñeco de amigurumi que hice para Liz (la preciosa bebé de mi amiga Erica) y esta semana os quiero enseñar el conjunto que tejí para ella.

Como para mí era un regalo especial quería hacer algo un poco diferente a lo que suelo hacer normalmente así que decidí hacer un pelele con tirantes y botones siguiendo el patrón de Creativa Atelier con los patucos "Lavish Booties" de Lion Brand  a juego.

Para hacerlo escogí un precioso color coral de DROPS Cotton Merino (como el que utilicé para tejer mi jersey Sous Sous) que, aunque es un color poco común en la ropa de bebé, a mí me parece muy alegre y fácil de combinar.

¿Qué os parece el resultado?

Last week I  showed you the amigurumi doll I made for Liz (my friend's Erica beautiful baby) and this week I want to show you the outfit I knitted for her.

As for me it was a special gift I wanted to make something different to what I usually do so I decided to make a baby romper with buttons following  Creativa Atelier pattern with matching " Lavish Booties" by  Lion Brand.

To make it I chose a beautiful coral colour from DROPS Cotton Merino (as the one I used to knit my Sous Sous sweater) that, although is not a very common colour for baby clothes, I find very bright and easy to match.

What do you think of the result?
